  1. I have found the Rusch Belly Bag to be very comfortable. They are rather pricy here in Australia but last well if you rinse them out well after use.
  2. 🙂 I use a light, mono filament, fishing line.
  3. I soak mine in an alcohol solution for 5 to 10 minutes then rinse with previously boiled water.
  4. I have only tried this once but it worked OK. The hole needs to be beyond the outer sphincter but not too far, maybe 5 or 6 inches from the inner tip. Be sure to avoid the filling line. My prostate has been removed so my measurements won't help. Yes, urine drains around it.
  5. When your stent is in place, do you actually feel anything? Can you feel that it is there? I have been experimenting on and off for years but until recently, with 'straight' designs. Having had the prostrate removed 9 years ago, a single 45 degree 'bend' is all that is needed to keep a stent it in place. First efforts are encouraging but further work needed.
  6. I don’t know how much experience you have with catheters. First time they irritate the lining of the urethra but very soon, the urethra accepts them and there is no problem. I use plenty of sterile gel. Catheters can drain into a leg bag or belly bag. A two litre night bag is great for a good night’s sleep. Draining straight into a diaper is said to be dodgy. I have successfully used a small attachment were the urine drains through a pin hole in a membrane of plastic wrap. The idea being that with urine constantly flowing in one direction, there is little chance of reverse flow. The one time I tried a one way valve, I got UTI. Another way to make a hole in a silicone catheter is to use a small twist drill, 2mm is adequate. If necessary, the surface could be smoothed with fine emery paper of maybe a flame. Fr14 is unlikely to be too big. Fr12 is very slow to drain. Good Luck!
  7. Spargano, five inches from the inner tip should be OK but it still might be inside the prostate and outer sphincter. You could try 6 inches. Give it a rest for a few days for things to settle down. The cuts in your holes may be a little sharp and need to be smoothed off somehow.
  8. Another thought is that a stainless sound might be a suitable tool to help keeping things clear.
  9. I use stents quite a bit, usually with Tena pull ups. Sometimes I need protection for just an hour or so. Here the thicker Tena mens’ pads or Depend guards are just fine, used with fairly close fitting panties. (I changed to panties 9 years ago to accommodate pads after a prostrate op.) Never had them move.
  10. There is urine trapped between the ‘hole’ and the plugged outer end of the catheter. This has not been an issue for me but then I never have it in place for more than a day or so. As the trapped urine is not exposed to air, bacteria may be slow to develop.
  11. Thanks for that. When I sleep with a regular catheter into a bag, I sleep well. When using the 'modified' cath, holey foley, with a diaper, I often wake with the sensation of a full bladder. Can't work that one out.
  12. Pretty well. I used pads for 10 weeks and on other occasions such as travelling when I think it might be wise. Passing wind with a full bladder is risky! Care needed. The big down side is total ED but it is worth it if you manage to get rid of the cancer. That was 9 years ago; so far so good. I am now soon 80.
  13. My inner sphincter and prostate were removed by robotic keyhole surgery going in through the navel after some prostate cancer was found 9 years ago.
  14. Cathdiap, I know it is written somewhere, but what type of tubing is used for the outer tube?
  15. I have found smaller sizes more comfortable. Fr14 is good. Also latex work better for me. On 2 occasions in the past I have warn a catheter continuously for 6 weeks.
  16. A modified foley catheter is simply one with a hole in the tube and the end is blocked so that urine flows out via the urethra. This is a Fr14 with a hole cut just over 10cm (4in) from the inner tip. Care must be taken not to cut the inflation line. This catheter has been used many times, explaining the stretched balloon. Before use it is soaked in an alcohol solution then rinsed with previously boiled water. The hole was cut with a sharp blade, wrapping the tube around a finger. I used a butane gas flame to smooth off the edges of the cut. (Don't know if that worked but there is no irritation.) I have had my prostate and inner sphincter removed so my urethra is shortened. A regular guy would need to place the hole a little further along, say at 13cm or about 5in from the inner tip. A silicone catheter would be easier to cut. About 26 years ago I had a "Prince Albert" piercing. Initially the piercing was very small; 1.6mm. At that time the thickest sound that would pass the meatus was quarter inch; 6.35mm. Gradually I stretched the piercing eventually to 8mm. During this time I noticed the meatus was also stretching, just by wearing a ring in the piercing. I suspect most of the stretching occurred wearing the smaller gauge rings. I can now accommodate a 11mm sound and just now am wearing a 10mm diameter Princes Wand.
  17. I've been using a modified foley catheter for sometime and have one in place just now. Easy to insert and remove and probably safe chemically.
  18. Of course, an alternative to diapers is a condom (external) catheter with a leg bag. This might be suitable on some occasions when diapers are inappropriate.
  19. I use pull ups but they always need support after an hour with a stent. A suitable pair of panties does the trick.
  20. On this site, a homemade urethral stent is rarely made from metal.
  21. If soft enough, it could curl around and easily fit in the bladder.
  22. Perhaps the thought of bondage (wearing leg irons) excites the same part of the brain as sexual thoughts and stimulation. As a kit, I had no knowledge of sex. I guess bondage which does not involve any sexual activity, cannot be described as sexual, neither, enjoyment of diapers.
