  1. Cathdiap, When you could feel the stent in place, was it at times uncomfortable? How did you go bending over to pick up something from the floor? My experiments continue but so far never totally comfortable for more than a few hours. I have, however, made a totally comfortable 'holey foley' but that is hard to repeat. The slightest irritation to the wall of the urethra is 'referred' to the tip of the pee pee.
  2. When I was a kid in the 50s, there was a lot of polio about. The sight of another kid wearing leg irons would always bring on a prepubescent erection. There is some connection there.
  3. Although slower to drain, perhaps a 12Fr might work better for you. Use plenty of sterile lube. The urethra is easily irritated but seems to recover quickly. I have a regular Fr14 in at the moment but had recently been experimenting with a 'holey foley' which did cause some soreness. For the best night's sleep, use a night bag with a regular Foley catheter. I have been using them on and off for 18 years. Cheers!
  4. I once tried using a valve system into a diaper. UTI straight away. A night bag works fine. One can enclose it in a hot water bottle cover. In the morning you will have a "warm water bottle".
  5. All my efforts have never resulted in a perfectly comfortable stent. However a holey foley usually works well. A hole is cut a few inches from the inner end of the catheter without cutting the inflation line. After sterilizing, it is inserted normally then the outer end is blocked off so that pee passes into the urethra then to your diaper.
  6. Whilst not encouraging you, a sound is a more positive way to stretch things than a catheter. When trying a new stent design I have had success loosening the sphincter with a suitable sound.
  7. Sorry to hear about your UTI, Ivanna. Girls are certainly more prone to UTI due short urethra. Could it be some bacteria working its way back from your diaper?
  8. If you ever get to have your prostate removed you will end up with both a shorter penis (the urethra is drawn in to connect with the bladder) and total ED as the nerves which control erections incapsulate the prostate.
  9. I made a stent similar to this yesterday. Previous efforts had failed due leakage from the balloon. All good this time. I used an Fr14 catheter and inflated the balloon to just over 8mm diameter. Prior to inserting, I opened up the sphincter (I only have one since removal of the prostate) with an 8mm, then a 9mm sound. The balloon part of the stent slipped straight into the bladder with no effort. It has only been in place about 3 hours but so far, so very good!
  10. We have a joke in our family. My wife wears the trousers and I wear the panties. She won't wear a skirt. I had the prostate removed 9 years ago and dribbled a little so needed to use pads for a while. I read here somewhere that pads fit better in panties, which is true. I wear the ones my wife has grown out of; also enjoy shopping for them. No need for pads now but panties do feel better. Not into frilly ones.
  11. I received one from Temu today. It was difficult to insert, uncomfortavle to wear and awkward to remove. Never again.
  12. I have had a PA for many years and whilst away on holidays recently thought of using my Prince's Wand to hold a cutdown, uninflated catheter in place. Tried it when returning home. It works well but there are two downsides. One cannot feel any pee dripping out and it probably is no more safe than a regular catheter draining into a diaper. Of course one could use it to keep a cutdown holey foly in place but still you would feel nothing. So far, the most success I have with stents is the humble holey foly.(modified catheter) A problem with any divice requiring a PA piercing is that pin needs to be of the correct diameter for the piercing, and, if it is a wand, it also needs to be the correct diameter for the urethra.
  13. Nineteen of various types. Some in a drawer whilst the remainder in a plastic bag at the bottom of the wardrobe.
  14. My answer to your questions: 1. I prefer 14FR 2. No 3. A steralized lube from a small sachet. 4. After a day or so this may happen. A little vaseline can be worked in. 5. As I understand, there basically are 2 types of Foley catheters; short term and long term. Short term are limited to a week whilst long term may be OK for several months. Check with the manufacturer. The longest I have had one in is 6 weeks. 6. Leg bag or belly bag during the day. Two litre night bag when in bed. I enclose mine in a hot water bottle cover which makes quite a nice bed companion. 7. Draining into a diaper is not recommended due increased risk of UTI but some do it. 8. Leg bags are usually 750ml. More than half full becomes a little uncomfortable. Drain when convenient. I always rinse bags several times after each use. They seem to last well. UTIs will happen. After my last occurrance several years ago, I asked my Doc for a script for the appropriate antibiotic to avoid waiting for an appointment next time. When that script was about to expire I collected the antibiotics which have a shelf life of several years.. Best of luck.
  15. You sure need a plug or small clamp. Even then you may not feel much.
  16. El Chancho, do you drain your indwelling catheter into a bag? I have only discovered the joys of incontinence in latter years. For 18 years now I have been experimenting with and enjoying catheters.
  17. El Chancho. I am a little confused. You talk of using an "indwelling catheter" for five years then you refer to an "intermittent catheter". Do you remove the indwelling catheter when travelling?
  18. Perhaps one could slip on a condom held in place with an elastic band and take your time. The condom could be rinsed and used again when needed.
  19. Well said, Ferix. I have no wish to change your mind.
  20. Thanks for the post Ferix. It may also be a question of "Been there, done that." I have been experimenting with catheters for 23 years and usually find them totally comfortable. Also more recently with 'holey foleys' and stents. Experimenting with stents is ongoing, so far not yet 100% comfortable but a correctly made 'holey foley' can be. These days I always take a Hiprex tablet each 12 hours when something is in place, followed by a cranberry capsule each 12 hours for 48 hours after removal. Never had UTI using Hiprex. Also there is a course of suitable antibiotics on hand if needed. Presently, it is a matter of forced abstinence, being overseas for a few weeks.
  21. I had an infection in the prostate once. It also infected the testis and was quite painful. It came from experimenting with stets.
  22. The truth is, I never mastered the art of putting on a diaper; always a bit saggy. A pull up with some close fitting panties, sits well.
