I made sure I was drinking plenty of liquids before and during. Which made it alot easier. It still takes about a minute to start to pee. I just have to make sure I already am damp before driving. If the road is bumpy it's really hard to go. Link to comment
ozziebee
I can, and I can't, pee whilst driving. If I'm driving down the highway and I get an urge, it pretty much releases. However, if I'm stopped at a traffic light, I can't pee. I attribute this to using muscles in my legs manipulating the pedals, causing other muscles elsewhere to change state, which won't allow my bladder to release. Same for walking. It is also very much a case of trusting one's diaper during the drive to not leak. If you have any concerns what-so-ever of your diaper leaking, you won't get a release... you'd have to force it... 2 Link to comment

For me I think it's a focus/concentration issue. When I'm at a stop light, I can pee. If I'm on on the highway, no matter how full my bladder is or how much it hurts, I can't pee while driving. 1 Link to comment

I had a hard time peeing while driving , It takes practice as everyone will say. But I used to lift my butt up use hands on the wheel, and using the wheel to make it easier to lift, and push, now to make it harder, if you can hold the wheel with one hand centered, you can push with the other hand on the bladder just for a few seconds , or do the pushing just beforehand , that will make the bladder a little weaker, and then you can drive safe with both hands. But the butt off the seat makes it much easier . 1 Link to comment
ozziebee
FYI, diapijay, pins aren't the only things available to affix cloth nappies - you should do a search for snappies, which are elastic grippers. Although marketed to parents of babies in cloth nappies, we can use them too. They tend to remove the slack that pins can cause, as they're elastic. I also had used pins to "backstop" the snappies, just in case one breaks. Also, you should experiment with various cloth folding techniques, as some work better than others. I am currently using the Newspaper fold on my pre-folds, so my nappy is triangle-ish, but not pointed. I am also using Boingo snappies, which are much shorter than snappies, but also have more strength, so I can get my nappies nice and tight against me. Over the top is a mesh compression pant, and over the top of that ensemble is my plastic pants. 1 Link to comment

I find they tend to tear into the type of diaper I use where pins properly work without tearing... till the cloth gets more worn out. Something to watch out for, and probably varies with the type of cloth diaper you are using. 1 Link to comment
deewet
Back to the point of this discussion, when driving if I get the urge to pee, it is only a matter of time until that happens for me, not the position I am sitting in or if I am stopped or going down the road. But in my case, it is a medical condition that I now have that is causing this, not my choice to wear diapers for other reasons. 1 Link to comment

I will look into getting some bingo snappies. To try Link to comment

diapijay
3 week update. So this past week I had no potty use. Cloth diapers drying n bathroom didn't go that well. I have larger combo washer dryer coming this week. I did my first long drive pulling the travel trailer. It was nice to be able to drink any water I wanted. Also only having to stop every 6 hours for fuel. As for peeing positions driving I don't have to stop anymore. Laying down I can do it almost everytime. This week I'm going to improve my fiber intake so I can mess easier. 1 Link to comment
diapijay
1 month update. So I offially at 1 month of wearing diapers. Still only 1 non diaper use. Except for when I'm in the shower. Wetting has gotten a lot easier. I even have been able to start wetting while walking slowly. My messing has gotten softer with my increased fiber intake. Still only going once a day typically. The new combo washer dryer has done a good job with clean my cloth diapers. Still figuring out the best load size for them. 1 Link to comment
diapijay
Week 5 update No potty uses this week. No major change to peeing positions. Still only messing once per day even with higher fiber intake. Link to comment
diapijay
Week 6 update No potty use this week. As for peeing positions I noticed that when standing causes me to have to pee about 40% of the time. Messing has gotten easier. I push for about 30 seconds then the rest basically slides out with a couple of minor push near the end. As for cleaning of the cloth diapers in the washer/dryer combo. I can wash 5 prefold diapi's and 9 inserts. Which is a full day of cloth only. I wash them will I sleep. As for the vibration when it's on spin mode in the rv is a little ruff. I'm going to need to a better stabilizing system. Link to comment

I hadn't thought about it, but I can understand why you are doing it at night since if you are moving in the day, that won't work. I expect you really need services hooked up (power / water / sewage ) to use the system. One comment was the dryer can't have as much heat as a normal house hold electric dryer, as that is typically a 30 Amp 220 Volt circuit, which would use all of a standard RV 30 amp connection, and most of the higher 50 amp standard connection where that is available. I assume this is just a "standard" 15 amp 110 volt plug - so maybe using only 1/2 of one side of the standard 30 amp circuit to the RV. That would mean longer drying times, which I did find documented by another user of this type of washer dryer.... And being overnight, the longer time wouldn't be noticed... I didn't consider how much the RV would shake while the load was spinning.... Interesting..... Overall, I think I will plan to stick with the campground washer and dryers which are typically standard household systems. Yes, you still need to spend some time to handle laundry. At my usage level, I can (mostly) get away with doing diaper laundry every four days in a more standard size washer / dryer. I suspect I would be close to daily with the type of system you are using.... Thanks for the info on your usage. 1 Link to comment

As for using campground washers there are 2 issues. First is not all have luandry facilities. Second I don't want to use them based on email I got from my current rv park. Just a reminder regarding use of our laundry facility. No clothing soiled in oil products are allowed to be laundered. One dryer is out of order because the clothing had some type of tar or grease. diapijay
Week 7 update No potty use this week. As for peeing positions I noticed that when standing causes me to have to pee about 50% of the time. Messing has hasnt changed much. As for the washing of cloth diapi. I did run into an issue this week. Twice the diapi's spun so hard they ended up sticking to the sides of the tube amd dryer hard to the sides. I had to dampen them and re-dry. 1 1 Link to comment
diapijay
Week 8 update No potty use this week. Peeing has remained the same during the day. There were 2 mornings when I wook up that I barley had to pee my diapi. Messing still basically just my morning poop. As for wasing the cloth diapi's. I just can't run them in the combo wash dry mode. Once they finish washing I get them un stuck from the side wall then dry them. Link to comment

I assume you are still drying over night, so don't really notice the amount of time needed for the drying part of the cycle. 1 Link to comment
diapijay
Week 9-10 update No potty use the past 2 weeks. As for peeing still no change in positions. It does seam that im starting to go more frequently. diapijay
Week 11 update No potty use this week. No changes in peeing or messing. This past Friday was an rv travel day. So I had the opertunite to really practice peeing while driving. Most the time I could only go on smooth roads a hand under my butt. Link to comment
