DailyDi
I can't read without taking off my glasses and holding the page close to my eyes. It's officially time to switch from single vision glasses to bi-focals.... I feel old now. ? 2 4 Link to comment
Crinklz Kat
I might have to go bi-focal. I hate progressives. Tried 'em.... went back to single vision (2nd pair for reading).... then last time, got progressives again. Relearned why I hated 'em the first time! I have astigmatism in both eyes... so I can't use generic reading glasses either. 1 Link to comment

I'm practically "blind" without MY glasses! LOL!??? Literally everything gets blurry. I've been wearing glasses ever since I was 8 years old. Now it seems like EVERYBODY nowadays has glasses.??️ LOL!?? Boy, how TIMES have changed! hahaha!????? Link to comment
MegaChar
Unlike the parent of mine who uses 450s for reading and seeing. Too bad they are only advailable online. 1 Link to comment
square_duck
I'm near sited as well, and take off my glasses to read fine print, or look at small stuff close up. This is kind of handy being a model builder, but can be a pain too. I do need new glasses as mine are 15 years old, but my correction is so bad, even at lens crafters, they have to be sent out to be made, which took a week last time I got new ones, and cost over $500. Thats why I still use 15 year old glasses!!! I don't feel like taking out a loan to pay for new ones.... Thought about laser surgery, but then it screws up my model building.....*sigh* or, they end up burning my eyes out completely!!! ?? dont want to end up ?? Link to comment
WBxx
I’ve been wearing progressives for years. It was a bit of an adjustment at first, but the right decision for me. Link to comment
rusty pins
I tried bifocals. Can't stand them. i wear my old glasses for driving and when I need to read, I put on a pair of magnifiers from the Dollar Tree. Doesn't bother me to switch glasses when I need to. for $1 a pair ($1.25 now) I can buy 8 pairs and distribute the around the house, my car and work. 1 Link to comment
oliver d
Have been wearing bifocals for two years now,was the best choice I could have made no need to change glasses for driving and for reading or close up work like building models. Link to comment

Maybe it's just how these lenses were made, but they suck. Can't see well out of them except for 1 damn spot. If I shift my eyes even a fraction... it goes blurry. Makes walking down the halls at work a bit interesting at times. Also, the "sweet spot" is too damn high up on the lenses, so I can't "look straight ahead" -- gotta tilt the head down slightly while driving. And the one reason I got rid of them the first time around was trying to work on computers. The ONLY way you can see is constantly moving your head to keep that one spot on the lens that works centered where you're looking. No... that's unacceptable. Shifting from monitor to monitor - fine, but I want to be able to read what's in a window WITHOUT MOVING MY HEAD! For the longest time, I simply removed the glasses as I was still able to read the screen without much issue. That changed about 3 years ago. So, now I have a 2nd set that are strictly for computer/reading (got them the same time as the hated primary glasses). I specifically stated that I wanted focal distance no more than my arm length, so the gradation isn't nearly as much, and they work reasonably well for me. It's the main set for everything else that just drives me buggy. Next time I want to find a better shop - not one of the mass production chain stores. But, as I mentioned, I have astigmatism which has it's own issues, so may likely need to see some type of specialist. Problem is that my eye care insurance just outright SUCKS! It's likely going to cost a lot. I wish my primary medical plan had vision coverage (my sister is with the same provider and hers does). I got an exam through them once but it ended up costing me $300! Link to comment

DailyDi
Thanks all for the input. I will probably give progressives a try as a one-pair solution would be the easiest. But then, that's when I can afford to get the eye exam and glasses, so who knows when lol Link to comment
AbabeBill
There’s lots of nice glasses out there to try, ya know! Just a few to think about, take some time. 1 Link to comment
DailyDi
I'll get mine from either eyebuydirect or Zenni, have used both and they do good work and have amazing prices. Link to comment

Lines you know are straight suddenly are not. Feel like you’re constantly moving your head to get things in focus. Stairs/driving are a challenge. Just give them a chance. At this point I’d never go back to bifocal or separate reading & distance glasses. 1 Link to comment
