What happens when post-micturition dribble progresses?

Recommended Posts

I believe my sphincter muscle is becoming weaker from my prolong 24/7 wearing and wetting at the slightest urge and not excising my sphincter by clenching. I'm very good at renaming relaxed. I'm been doing this for a few years in binges but when I hit a purge I start using the toilet again. I have noticed I am getting post-micturition dribble after using the toilet. I have wet drops in my pants. As well as it's taking me longer to get rid of the constant urge to pee, constant feeling I have pee in my bladder and when I use the toilet its a little dribble/stream which resembles when I'm wetting in my nappy as its always a little dribble or gush.

What would happen to my continence if I finally carried on with the binge for months and continue wearing nappies wetting at the slights urge. What would the progression be?

I think your quite young for this so maybe you should try to find out if its a medical problem. I have problems with my sphincter muscle and post-urination dribble as well. Sometimes if I wear underwear the whole front is wet after I zip up. These days I often start wetting before I even make it to a urinal or toilet. Wearing a pullup is helpful when your doing things where being somewhat wet could be a problem or might be noticeable. I don't know whether wearing all the time will make the problem better or worse for you. It could be that your dealing with incomplete voiding and that can sometimes be psychological. Even if your wearing a pullup try using a stall instead of a urinal and you might find you have better flow and more complete voiding. If I really want to be careful I sit down to urinate and that seems to lead to more complete bladder drainage. Anyway, hope you find a solution that makes you feel more comfortable and secure. I know the inconvenience of that "wet feeling down there" that can make you think you wet your pants.

Are you trying to lose continence or are you finding this an inconvenience? If you were wearing diapers through a desire to become incontinent then you need to decide if that's what you want to achieve. If you don't then it may be worth visiting a doctor to discuss your condition.

Sounds like something that is happening to me but in my case in early 70's, it is a result of issues with my prostrate and onset of diabetes as my pee doc pointed out at last visit.  Not sure I would have wanted these symptoms to develop in my younger years but am accepting of what I have in front of my now!

I love doing the training, relaxing the muscles, reducing the bladder size, I am in dribbler state with some gushes while in diapers and have many wet spots when not. I currently don't wear 24/7 however leaning on the unpotty trained toddler i am so get diapered and stay diapered, and yes i love it :)

A couple things could be going on. For reference, I’m 34, which is much younger than the average age at which men may start experiencing prostrate trouble, and it sounds like you are too.

I started noticing a frequent need to pee probably ten years ago. I’d go and have to go again, and it was never much after the first time but I still felt like I had to go urgently. Id also have to get up 2-3 times a night sometimes. I ignored the problem, because it wasn’t much of a problem.

Around age 30, I went 24/7 except for work and a few other settings. I noticed the urgency getting worse over that period, and I think the diapers had at least something to do with that. Still minor, and I don’t think it has to do with muscle weakening. I think it’s just conditioning. I got more used to go frequently.

Then about 18 months ago, I got a UTI. So unusual is this for men under 50 that it’s considered a complicated case automatically. I went to a urologist to make sure nothing was wrong, chief among the possible concerns being cancer.

Skipping the details, by the time I had been thoroughly checked out by the urologist and did a number of sessions with a physical therapist specializing n pelvic disorders who I had seen previously for what turned out to be a related problem:

1) I have a narrow prostrate. That’s not the same thing as BPH, but it has the same effect of making the need to pee more frequent and urgent, as well as causing post-voiding dribbles.

2) I injured some hip cartilage 7 years ago. Over time, that injury pulled my tailbone out of alignment. That’s what I originally saw the pelvic specialist for. Treating the pain for the tailbone led to constipation, which led to an anal fissure, which is the single most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. It’s was pure misery that ended 18 months later in surgery.

Between the narrow prostate, hip injury, and all the pelvic trauma, I have very high resting pressure in my pelvic floor. It all combines to make urinating more urgent and frequent, and it makes it difficult to completely empty my bladder. Hence the feeling I still have to pee even if I really don’t. It also makes voiding my bowels completely more difficult, and a full bowel puts pressure on the bladder and also creates a sense of urgency. No surprise, I was diagnosed with OAB.

So I’d say being 24/7 contributes to maybe 10% of the problem. The rest is my anatomy. The solution has been some physical therapy, high fiber diet, trying to stay consciously relaxed to lower my resting pressure, and some breathing techniques while I’m peeing to makes the muscles work better.

I still experience some urgency and frequency and definitely dribble, but it’s not as bad as it was, and I’ve only had one more UTI.

Since the pandemic, my almost 24/7 had become all but 24/7. Because I haven’t been paying as much attention to it, I think the problems are getting a little worse, but not like it was. To the extent the dribbling in particular gets worse, I suspect age more than diapers.

In my experience, this is the beginning of incontinence but unless you do something to speed up the progress, you’re probably a few years away from needing more than very light protection. For years I had dribbles every time I urinated, to the point where I thought it was totally normal to have damp underwear. I’m a lifelong bedwetter, so my sphincter has always been weaker due to that, but my dribbles took years to progress to diaper dependency because I wasn’t trying to. My continence finally went .

if you wish to progress your incontinence then wear appropriate protection and don’t fully empty your bladder. Let as much of your urine output come out as dribbles as possible
