I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all our members that are past or present Armed Forces service people. Because of you, we have freedoms that other countries do not. In this time of government strife, you might be even more important. Again, thank you for all you have done for myself, my family, and my friends. Your sacrifice (and potential sacrifice)

A Big Thank You to all of our Veterans indeed, including those who are members here. When I'm out & 'n About if I see someone that I can tell has served, I always do my best to get to them & say thank you for their Service, no matter what time of year it is. Our Service men & women deserve our thanks all of the time & I also agree with you Tara.

As a Vet, so many of us are thankful for this day, but many don't understand the hoopla goes with it, particularly those who served in earlier times than I did.

Many civilized nations have similar holidays. For the sake of convenience, they are usually on November 11. At least equate to US and Canada, and I don't know about others.

It has nothing to do with convenience. It coincides with the former holiday called Armistice Day.
