Taxes On Diapers

Recommended Posts

Most Americans are not concerned about the tax differences. Clearly, rich people in socialized healthcare countries pay a significantly higher tax rate to subsidize lower and middle class healthcare.

I would happily pay a premium to make sure government doesn't touch my healthcare. I like my healthcare (for the most part), all I want to see is everyone, regardless of condition, able to buy into the system that is already there. Kill the Government Option, and go regulate overly-greedy capitalists. Everything goes back to moderation, and America stays the greatest nation out there.

When government controls your health care, they instantly get to control a lot of other things in your life. And, that's the last thing I'll say in this thread. Unsubscribed.

You do realize you pay about three times what we do in taxes for your health care right?

The current Bill if it passes as written is a disaster and will bankrupt eery middleclass American. I don't have an extra $100.00 in taxes to start paying for a system that I won't have access to until 2013. All I want is a law passed that restricts an insurance companies right to service denial. I have no problem paying for insurance however due to pre-existing conditions, I can't.

We need to reform the current system as it does work for those who have it. I shouldn't have to privde money to give someone else health coverage because they refuse to take the benefit at work because they might have to cut back on cigarettes or actually live within their means. Enough with the entitlement mentality.

What about all those folks that lose their job and can not afford nor qualify for health insurance. What about those that work for companies that do not provide health coverage and what about those that work for $8 to $15 an hour that can't pay because their whole cheque would be for health insurance.

There are many hard working low and middle income Americans that can't pay for insurance because then they couldn't pay rent let alone a mortgage. They are already struggling to get to work, pay the bills etc. If saying they have an entitlement to affordable health insurance is wrong because they don't earn enough money to pay for it, who will pay for it or do you subscribe to the idea that America is a class based system and only those middle and upper middle income folks are entitled to the spoils of wealth?

Its likely these people could pay for health insurance if employers paid people that worked in the service sector a decent wage. Oh I forgot, they should get a better job, like that will happen....

I'm just glad that Obama is getting knocked off his high horse. Ooohhh, the presidential candidates distanced themselves from Bush. We won't do what Bush did. Bush is a n00b.

Obama gets elected.

Yay! Change! Not bush!

Now, Obama isn't doing too good of a job. He isn't keeping all of his promises. His popularity is going down. Hmmm...

(flashes back several years ago)

Yay Bush! Not Clinton! We love Bush for the war after 9/11.

Now, We hate Bush! You didn't keep all of your promises! We hate the war! You killed the economy!(even though other countries had failing economies at the same time) Hmmm....

Long story short, the president's status is a popularity contest. They are only popular when they are doing something you like. If not, we hate you forever!

(Inserting personal political opinion after this point. do not read if you could be offended.)

I was against Obama from the getgo. He got elected for the wrong reasons. Obama will fix everything! A year later, he isn't doing so good. Not an easy job, is it?

It hasn't passed yet for a reason...

Couple months ago, there was a booth at my college passing out propaganda associating the health care plan with Nazis. I know they were on the extream end, but like I said, it has failed a couple times so far. It can't be that good.

The only reason nothing gets done is because if it's not there idea, then it's not a good one. SOOOOOOOO tired of votes being ALL to one side. Is it really possible for a group of people to be totally for and totally against an idea. One or two maybe cross the line. It's like a bunch of two year olds in office going, "it's your idea so I don't like it just because it's yours and you're not my friend anymore!" Now if the other party came up with the exact same or similar bill, the other party would be doing the same. Nobody can seem to agree on anything and the only way stuff like this gets one is by one party having more people in the house.

I'm sorry but all are politions are like baby's who can't play nice together and allthough very educated are f-ing idiots because they don't even know a thing about getting along. They're too worried about image and staying within party lines. Our system will eventually crash if this continues.

What about people who DON'T WANT a healthcare plan? Believe it or not, but there are MANY: either really rich people who can afford to pay as they go, or fresh-from-college kids who think they are so healthy they don't need to worry about coverage.

And then there's f'ing ILLEGALS who would get coverage under OBAMA'S plan, even though they have NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER! I'm so sick of seeing illegals around the country getting BETTER access to things than I (a NATURALLY BORN CITIZEN) can get! They are called ILLEGAL for a reason: THE BROKE THE IMMIGRATION LAWS BY SNEAKING INTO AMERICA! My wife is an elementary school kindergarten teacher, and some of her students have MEXICAN birth certificates (and the parents of those kids also have MEXICAN bc's), which means THEY ARE NOT AMERICAN CITIZENS, AND DO NOT BELONG IN AMERICAN SCHOOLS!

It hasn't passed cause faux news hates change and obama (THE GOD DAMN COMMIE TERRORIST BASTARD!)

No, Fox News reports TRUTH while ALL OTHER "news" channels report the party line (only what Obama and the Democrats want reported).

And THAT is the TRUTH!

The "Change" Obama wants is just like what Karl Marx did in Russia. If you can't see that, then you are BLIND (or else never paid attention to world history before the USSR - Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics - collapsed).

Gee, think about this:

There are 545 people in Washington with POWER (ignoring all lobbyists, aides, secretaries, etc):

The President, 9 Justices on the Supreme Court, 435 members in the House of Representatives, and 100 Senators.

And THEY make the rules for over 300 MILLION citizens! That is a serious case of a minority trying to rule a majority, when it's supposed to be MAJORITY RULE.

WE elected THEM, THEY WORK FOR US, so why do they not listen to US about what WE want? Simple: they lie to us with their promises, they care more about the money given to them by lobbyists and special interest groups than they do about our votes which put them in those seats.

It is time to vote out the corrupted politicians who only care about money, and vote in NEW people who have never been in a position of power. People who KNOW what it's like in the REAL WORLD of America (since the DC politicians live in a FANTASY). We need more Doctors, Teachers, Accountants, every possible profession in America, EXCEPT LAWYERS! Over 90% of ALL the politicians in office right now have histories as lawyers/attorneys or judges, so they have NO IDEA AT ALL how it feels to live under the laws they pass, since they ALWAYS act like they are IMMUNE to the laws they pass for US to live under.

Problem is, if they don't want it, then they don't pay for it, then they get hurt, go to the hospital and get treated for free anyway. Make em pay, no free rides. It'd be like people who drive around without car insurance. I won't get hurt, next thing you know, they have medical bills up the ass but no worries, they didn't pay for insurance and now, they won't have to pay for the medical injuries either. You the responsible one will wind up paying for his injuries through your taxes and insurance while he'll gets off. Sometimes makes you wonder, why even have insurance when i can just count on everyone else to to cover my ass. The way the system works now. Well, times up, no more free rides. The same would go if it was a mexican. They'd have to treat them at the hospital for free so why not charge them?

RAR RAR RAR RAR. CHANGE THE BLOODY RECORD.

I was going to spend time chucking more fuel onto your swirling bonfire of shoutyness. But Its my birthday, there's a beer out there with my name on it. And I really really don't care. I argue for the sake of arguing, and tbh this argument is boring now.

Drew, you just don't get it. The US Government already controls TWO healthcare plans (Medicare and Medicaid) and BOTH are TOTALLY SCREWED UP! This bill DOES NOT FIX ANYTHING! I just makes things WORSE!

For years my taxes (and yours, and the taxes paid by every other American) have been used for programs to give OTHER PEOPLE "assistance" options that we (those of us PAYING the taxes) cannot touch (because we "make too much", even when I only made 28k a year and was considered barely over the poverty line), and I think that is complete and utter bullshit - particularly since a LARGE PORTION of the people receiving the benefits HAVE NEVER PAID INTO THE SYSTEM THEIR ENTIRE LIVES (families living for generation after generation using welfare checks, people PHYSICALLY ABLE TO WORK but NEVER working, ILLEGALS getting benefits WITHOUT EVER PAYING TAXES)!

And by the way, car insurance is a DIFFERENT subject from health insurance.

Why not let each state (or even each separate county in each state) decide for themselves how to handle healthcare? Since WHEN did a small group of politicians in DC have the right to SHOVE THINGS DOWN OUR THROATS? The Federal government answers to US, the PEOPLE. We DO NOT answer to them! Look up the wording of the Constitution in Article 1, Sections 8 and 9. Section 8 specifically states the powers Congress DOES have, while section 9 specifically states powers Congress DOES NOT HAVE! Also, read the wording of the Tenth Amendment which says "The powers not delegated to the United States" (meaning the Federal government) "by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Therefore Congress does NOT have the power to create a "federally mandated" healthcare plan.

If you want the government to distribute diapers look out. The lowest bidder gets the contract. There are some really bad disposables out there.

Think about this. The environmental nutballs could push the issue and force you to use cloth diapers and if disposables are available, they could tax the hell out of them.

As much as I hate the notion of a government option... this part of it would actually benefit me.

I would have little problem getting a doctor who knows me to admit that diapers are beneficial to my relaxation, and medically-speaking, it wouldn't be hard to get a prescription.

Just think... Bambino Biancos on someone else's dime. Now that's change I can believe in.

(Obviously, I don't want anyone but me paying for my diapers... but I'll be happy to covertly work/wreck any system I'm subjected to. And, I doubt Bambino would pass on the opportunity to become subsidized either... if you think this is the only area prone to abuse, think again).

Yeah, ill probably have to agree there. If you are incontinent and need diapers I don't think you will get prescribed bambino diapers, simply because it will be viewed as "excessive".

You won't be given what you want, but you will be given what you need. They aren't going to give you a paper napkin with a sponge inside either.

How broken is the American healthcare system?

It is the finest in the world! People don't leave America to seek healthcare. Folks from all over the world come to America when they have a serious medical issue.

Now I understand that people go abroad for things like sex change operations etc. Insurance here never covers elective surgery.

It hasn't passed yet for a reason...

It's a wonder everyone hasn't killed everyone else in htis country with the amount of arrogant self righteous selfishness i've seen. If this board is any indication we are all damned to a life of loneliness, even as we are surrounded by others....

So much for treat others as you wish to be treated and good will towards men.

Apparently its "treat me likea king while i shit on your face" and "good will towards me and me alone"

Axshually; while SRS and Breast Augmentation and the like are considered to be "cosmetic surgery" and would be considered "elective" - if you're on a proper transition plan with your therapist; and it is recommended that for your own state of mental well-being that these procedures are required? They're covered under Medicare Australia.

Next time; do some research.

I get it, I get it. I'm just as pissed at how the system operates right now. All these people getting free rides because we can't have anyone living on the street or deny anyone medical treatment. Anyone who wants can get free money from the gov't if they really want to. It's an F-d up system. I hate it, but I make a good living and usually just let someone else worry about the details because you and I are utterly powerless. To me, our votes for president don't even really count. Only electoral votes so what good is my vote?

The private insurance system doesn't work either. Known too many people to have paid in to insurance for a lifetime only to get denied coverage when they need it because of some technicality or the insurance company for what ever reason decides not to pay for it because they felt it was "unneccisary treatment" or some other bs reason. It comes down to them just not wanting to dole over some cash. It's a business, wtf do the care what happens to you. Fortunately and unfortunately, the gov't has to care.

I realize car insurance is different but it was an analogy. Geez, sometimes I swear nobody here get's what an analogy is, similar...NOT same. My point is, car insurance is manditory, therefor, it keeps the rates to all that pay lower. If 1 out of 10 people carried car insurance, the one would be paying through the nose to cover themselves because they'd be paying for everyone else too. This is true too if health insurance was the same way. So the more that pay, the more are covered, the lower the rates to all. No bank would give you a loan on a car without coverage, no coverage, no car, but right now, you can get medical treatment on yourself without any coverage. By forcing people to cover themselves, you'd be lowering the cost to all. If you don't force people to do it, they'll just keep sucking the gov't teet. At least they be paying for the services. You can collect gov't money without having ever contributed like you said but this manditory H.I. wouldn't be a free ride anymore like other current programs.

I'm sick of paying everyone elses tab, that's the way the current system works and then when I go in, I still have to pay or my insurance decides not to cover me because it's a business, business are in the business to make money. The gov't has no interest in making money. They've made that quite apparent.
