Most of that price is probably tax. The UK has a National Health Service. This is how it is paid for.

its between 2.89 and 3.00 a gallon for regular here. down in my summer home its like 2.60 or so.

I read in the Sunday paper that oil execs are saying that gas prices will stabilize around $3.00 a gallon. I could be wrong about tomorrow's election having any kind of effect on the price of gas. Only time will tell.....

Friday I filled up at my my usual stop for $1.73 a gallon(no typos and no kidding!) Here in SC, gas prices are almost always the lowest in the nation However the wages are the same way too so overall it takes about the same bite out of your budget.

It's not always like that though. After the last hurricane the only pipeline serving this area was shut down for weeks. Gas(if you could find anyone who had some)was at a low of $4.23 while the rest of the nation was about $0.50 cheaper. I hear of people being gouged for $4.85 but I didn't see that. That didn't matter so long as you could get gas. The biggest line I had to wait in was 17 people ahead of me but I saw much worse.

Some time ago I asked a couple mechanics about storing gas. They both said that today's gasoline doesn't store well and to use it within a couple months. Something about gumming and varnish and inbjectors. I discovered the problem after my lawnmower wouldn't start He said to use something called Stabil which you can get at any auto parts place so now it goes into the lawnmower tank at the end of summer. Just make sure to run the mower awhile so it gets into the carb and not just the tank. It does seem to work, and it's cheaper than the repair bill I paid to learn the trick.

Hopefully there won't be much need for this thread anymore but you never know!

Well the last price drop I got this weekend was $1.65 a gallon...so that was pretty awesome. I only keep $10 bucks in my neighborhood beater car (never know when she's gonna give up the ghost). I put $10 in it this weekend and it was like WTF!

You all are lucky with your gas prices. The best (non Reservation) price I have seen here is $2.35

I hear on the Reservations it is around $1.80

Buffalo gas prices suck.

I caught the tail end of a news broadcast that said if oil keeps dropping we may hit the big $1.00 a gallon by spring...that would be sweet..!!!
