So finally after 50 years of working, I am officially retired from the work place. So Happy!! And now obliviously I have more time to wear and enjoy my diaper time. My wife works from home and has done so for many years, and she will continue to work another year before she retires as well. So with all this extra free time I have now, and for the past several days I have been getting the most out of my InControl BeDry diapers. Meaning I can use them for extended periods of 9+ hours before needing a change and to hop in the shower. The great part is my wife is all on board with everything. And with my new free time, I will now be trying to use cloth diapers more on a daily basis and especially as a cost savings compared to disposables. Although I will still continue to use disposables in the mix, because a messy diaper is much easier to clean up with a disposable than compared to cloth. Now I have used some cloth products in the past without a lot of success, like cloth pullups (Leak Master brand) and plastic pants. Always had problems with leaks and puddling in the bottom of the plastic covers. I have purchased one from Threaded Armor so far, it's the "Protective Brief", and I have not used it yet but I purchased this because of the variety of ways it could be used (Absorbency wise). So I would like to explore other brands and different types without breaking the bank so to speak, and I realize that several people in this community have a lot of different experiences with cloth diapers. As a long time member here, I respect the opinions of this community and Daily Di (Mike). So a few questions, mainly around ease of use and overall effectiveness. The washing part I have no issues with, as I will be washing them about every two to three days. I am normally a heavy wetter, and tend to wear my disposables until near capacity. I know that some have more capacity than others and absorbency can be modified with additional soaker pads and such. So Type? Prefold, Contoured, AIO (All in One), Flat How they are held in place? Pins, Cloth diaper fasteners, Velcro Material? Flannel, Microfiber, Gauze, Twill, Birdseye And lastly a great cover? Plastic, PUL, Lined or not? Thanks in advance for all who reply, I have some general ideas but I really appreciate the input from others to help me make a better informed decision. Three Rivers

Do you make your own cloth diapers? I do. I use a combination of Zorb II for boosters and the largest size flour sack towels I can find. I learned about Zorb from Baby June. That stuff is, as they say, da bomb.

I just placed an order for a new pair of Leak Master plastic pants from adultclothdiaper.com. Fun times ahead.

I'm going back into cloth diapers and plastic pants and placing order for new cloth diapers. What is the best way to soften cloth diapers? I want to soften them quickly in a washing machine and dryer. What should I use? What should the water temperature be? I have total privacy for month. I intend to wear nothing but my cloth diapers, plastic pennies and a T-shirt as much as possible but I need you diapers to the soft and ready for me for comfort and pleasure.
