In keeping with the adage DOING is LIVING and LIVING is DOING, RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME presents...
Often, the question comes up of how to make a "theme" for a "child's" room. A theme is a "look and feel" based on and reflecting an esthetic, motif, or, in the chase of a child's room, subject (category, character(s) story, activity or abstract; like the use of colors, designs or pattersn of shapes). A theme can be temporary, like colors and images reflecting the current season or a holiday, or fixed, reflecting a major interest. This is of special interest to girls. A gir's room is a most important place. She does far more than dress and sleep here. She entertains and does many things. For a little girl, this is even more so since she is still developing, it is where she lives out many of the fantasies that make up her little world. As such, she may wish for it to look such a way that it shows her interests, reflect her personality and holds things she especially likes. Creating the appearance that suits and pleases her best is done by a "Theme". A theme is a "look" based on a basic idea mae visible by specific things that are part of, and represent that idea by appearing several different times or being in important, very visible places
There are many themes for a little girl's bedroom. Alice (in Wonderland), Baby, princess, Dorothy (Over the Rainbow), ballet and more. The most colorful and appealing to a little girl is Fairy: Especially as it is done at RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME. First, who does not love Fairies just burstingly? Next, who would not just swoon at the thought of being a fairylet (Fairy little girl)? This idea is both ultra-girlish and speaks of an exotic people living in a beautiful world of flowers, lovely dresses and gowns, tiaras and magic. So it is very pretty, cute and striking, with things that are not part of the ordiary; speaking of a place that would fill the feminine imagination. In this album, we are only looking at the things that make Christine's room fairyish. This means we are not considering things like the contents of the dressers and beureaus or her little desk as these are quite ordinary for a little girl's room. When you enter, the white furniture tells you that this is a feminine place. We also try to make it smell in a way that the fairies find pleasing; flowers and powder. However, Christine is an over-age wetter in diapers and rubber panties, so that does figure in how the room smells but that simply makes it smell like a Fairy nursery or punishment room. And a few fairies like that. So do not turn your nose up as plug-in potpurri or essential oil heaters or scent warmers such as Scentsy but I would avoid candles or anything with open flames. Also, many of the things may not be available to you . That is fine. All you need to do is find thngs like them. Coloration can help a good deal; using colors that fairies would lokeThe basic colors are pink white and gold, Fairies also love various shades of violte, like magenta, Tyrian purple or indigo. They also love shiny, transparent or translucent colors, pearlescent, iridescent and metallic colors. Using these ideas, it should be quite easy to turn your little girl's room into a little bit of Fairyland. If you want to see some of the other aspects of Christine's world, look at the other albums
Now, you can make a little girl's bedroom one in which a fairylet would feel right at home and whose parents would feel perfectly happy with. The ladies at RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME have a first-name relationship with many of them and know what they like and need. In fact fairylets often stay over for a few days at a time and feel right at home since most of the bedrooms and some of the guest rooms are done in a fairy or fairylet theme. It is important to understand that fairies are not little bug people but for the most part, look just like you and me so need full-size furniture and things. Also, our Christine Daryleanne Paradise is half-Fairy and is treated as a fairylet
This is a RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME fairy themed room. It is the bedroom/nursery of Christine Daryleanne Paradise, who is half-Fairy. Since fairylets are children, because Fairies live very long and can have many children; all girls, over time and feel that they can give a single child the attention she deserves, their rooms are decorated with very specific themes and have things in them that are very Fairy. Since Christine has many unwanted things about her, such as being babyish, whiny and FAR too proud, the things that are used to chastize her, being also Fairyish, are also in the open where they can easily be gotten at. Hopefully, that will not be needed with your little girl
If you would like to make a little girl's room like that of a Fairylet, you can use this album as a model. Observe that nowhere is any descriptive material used, such as "Mommy's Little Fairy Girl". That would be self-conscious. Do not tell; show. If you have to say it is a Fairy girl's room then you are not doing it right and the phoniess would show. You may want something with her name like Chrstine's nightlight
