  1. Hi Kim, I'm also from the UK and I'm sure you'll love it here on DD. I've found everyone to be really friendly and helpful.
  2. Hi KimiM, I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. I hope you're OK and finding things a little easier. Take care.
  3. Hi KimiM, Thanks for your update. I'm so sorry to hear about the terrible things that you've suffered. It's awful, and it's hard to understand how anyone could treat a child in such a terrible way. I can only imagine the ongoing pain that this must cause you. Please know that there are people out there who understand and want to support you, and lots of the good ones can be found here on these forums. The thing I love about this site is that it really is a community, and in a good community, we're there to help and support one another through our bad times. Do keep us updated on how you're doing, and be kind to yourself.
  4. Hey KimiM, I just wanted to check in with you and see how you're doing today. I hope you're feeling OK and that things are looking a little brighter.
  5. It's been a real pleasure for me too; thank you again! I do love the people in the AB/DL community! :-) Thanks for the information on the use of disposables in the US; that's really helpful. I think there was some calling plastic pants rubber pants here too, but I'm not sure this is something I ever experienced personally. It's wonderful that there's such a wide variety of diapers out there, and so great that some of us get to wear them long than most! Thanks again; I'm really grateful.
  6. Hi All, I'm keen to get myself some terry nappies, but I'm a bit confused about the various sizes available. I've been looking at the terry squares available in the UK which seem to be produced by Drylife, and sold though a variety of suppliers. I'm not sure how to relate the size of the squares to waist size, and whether it is better just to get the biggest nappy available. Would it be possible to fold the 60" square to fit a smaller waist, or should I get the size closet to my actual waist size? Does anyone have any experience with buying cloth nappies in the UK? If so, I'd be keen to read your tips and recommendations. Thanks! ?
  7. I'm also in Wiltshire, and a trip to Berkshire would certainly be possible. Any other Wilts-based babies here?
  8. Yes, I certainly seem to! Sometimes I wish I were a bit less "scatter gun" in my approach; I do seem to be able to spend far too long learning about things that aren't really relevant before moving on to the next things…. Still, it does mean that I'm almost never bored, and at least my strange interests occasionally give my friends something to laugh about, and someone's got to be interested in old technology… Thanks for the information regarding plastic pants and rubber pants. I wore plastic pants as an infant (although I think we called them "elastic pants", but I may have just misheard!), and I don't think I've ever got to wear rubber pants, but, again, this is something I'd be very keen to try. Thanks for the links, and that additional information. I wish we has a really good history of diapers and baby care products resource available. I'd love to know when the use of disposable diapers overtook cloth in different countries around the world. I'd assume that the US led the way there, but that's only an assumption, and it feels like that would have happened sometime in the 1980s here in the UK. Thanks again!
  9. Hi BabyCR, Thanks for your reply, and for your kind words. Yes, I think part of my motivation for joining the forums here in the first place is that being Little does make me feel quite lonely a lot of the time. It's not something I can share with friends and family, and yet it's an important part of my life and identity, so it can create a distance in my relationships. It's great to come on here, see that other people have similar struggles, and get friendly replies! ?. It's been a tricky few years for me, but hopefully things will pick up, and I'll be able to play more of a role in the community here. Thanks again!
  10. Cool! I'll get some prunes and give it a try! I had a colleague who got themselves in to a bit of a sticky situation having eaten a whole bag of sugar-free candy. I tried it myself, but it didn't seem to work on me. I'll give prunes a go though! ?
  11. I do understand how you feel. It often seems as though the world is uncaring, that people are selfish and that all the news is bad. However, I keep reminding myself that the view of the world mediated by social networks, radio, TV and the press is only one aspect of reality, and that, behind the headlines, there's a kinder, more humane world. It does feel true as though there's a lot more hatred about than there was 20 years ago (although it might feel that just because I'm 20 years older…), but I think there are a growing number of people around the world who long for a kinder society, a more civilised public discourse and a world where we really can allow ourselves to be vulnerable, honest and brave. Together, I think we can make that world a reality. :-) I'm here if every you want to talk.
  12. Hi All, I'm hoping that this will be a good club to join here. I've spent much (most) of my life battling with depression, even from a very young age. I've spoken to my Doctor, I've been proscribed medication, and I'm currently seeing a counsellor, but I'm not sure how much it's helping. Does anyone have any tips on day-to-day things that have made dealing with depression that little bit easier? Thanks for your support! ?
  13. Thanks for your additional reply, and for the link; I'll have a look and see what I can else I can learn. I'm really grateful for your taking the time to share your knowledge with me. It's interesting how different sides of our personalities interact. I'm generally interested in history, and I really like to learn the history of the things around that we just take for granted, such as the telephone system, or TV and radio broadcasting, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that this desire to get in to the history of everything should extend to my little side too! (The downside is that I now can't help from wondering when plastic pants overtook rubber pants in popularity, and what people used before rubber pants…) I don't really remember my own potty training, which is something I'm quite sad about. I think I can just about remember underwear that could have been made from terry cloth, but I'm not really sure. Thanks again for sharing the information; it's great to get to know more!
  14. Me too! I always find myself hardly able to control my bladder when I'm wearing diapers. I like this though. It's as though somehow my body knows that wearing nappies is the right thing for me, and it knows what to do when I am!
  15. I'll have to give it a try! :-). Would eating half a bag give a similar effect without causing the bloating?
  16. I vaguely remember an episode of "Married… with Children" where Peggy treats Bud as a baby, but I can't recall much of the detail. I'm sure there was one scene where Bud says something about being oiled and powdered by your own mother, but I could be wrong. I've never been able to find that episode, but if anyone else knows anything about it, I'd love to see it again. From my own youth I remember seeing an episode of "Eurotrash" when I was a teenager that had a section on Adult Babies. It was the first time I realised that there were other people out there like me, so quite an eye opener! As as child, I used to love adverts for nappies and baby products, but I'd always feel embarrassed if anyone else was in the room…
  17. There really are! Sometimes it's just good to know they're there. I often wear nappies on a long car journey just because I'm worried about needing the loo and not being able to stop. I don't always end up using the nappy, but I just feel I can relax so much more knowing that I have one on. Although, I guess for many of us, we always feel more relaxed wearing a diaper!
  18. Thanks so much for your reply and for the detailed information! That's really helpful! I hadn't thought about it all this way, but it's really useful to think of it in terms of differing base materials and weaves. I think I'd read somewhere that the "diaper" originally referred to a type of weave that was commonly used for infants. Do you know any further information about what type of weave this is? I wonder if it's still available anywhere? Yes, Terry nappies can be difficult to clean. I guess that's why we can buy nappy liners here, which are supposed to contain messes for easy disposal. Are liners not really needed if using Birdseye diapers? I wonder if there's anyone here in the UK supplying Birdseye diapers, as I'd be keen to try them too. Thanks also for the information on training pants in the US; that certainly makes sense. Thanks again for adding to my knowledge and contributing to my topic; I'm really grateful!
  19. Welcome! I hope you're enjoying your time at University, and that you're able to get plenty of time to explore this side of yourself.
  20. Hi All, I'm currently investigating getting some cloth nappies (diapers). I can remember the Terry nappies that were quite common here in the Britain when I was a child, and I think I'd assumed that cloth nappies the world over were made of Terry cloth, but my research suggests that's not the case and I was hoping the hive mind here might help clarify things for me. If I've understood correctly, then cloth diapers in the states tend to be either gauze or Birdseye; I'm not really sure what those are, and how different they would feel from Terry cloth. Are both made of cotton? I have the impression that Birdseye would be a little thinner than Terries. Does anyone know whether that's actually the case? I'd be interested to hear what was/is common in other counties around the world too, so please do let me know what the situation is wherever you call home! ?. I think that Japan uses something different again, but I'm not sure about the other European counties. It seems that these days bamboo and microfibre are commonly used. Does anyone know when these first start to be used for making nappies? Thanks in advance; I'm really hoping to expand my knowledge of the wonderful world of nappies!
  21. Hi All, Just to let you know that someone has requested this onsie through Fetlife, so it's no longer available. I'll post on this sub-forum again when I've next got something to offer. xx
  22. Hi, I'm offering a 4XL sized Cuddlz onsie free of charge. It's got a really cute trucks and diggers design and red piping. For the first time in my life, I've managed to shed a few pounds, so this no longer fits me, and I'd like to see it go to a good home it at all possible. I've only worn it three or four times, and it has been washed. I'll offer it on a 'first come, first served' basis. I'd just like the recipient to confirm that they are over 18 (I know it should be a given, but I want to make it clear that this offer is made to adults only) and I'll even pay for the postage. I've also posted this on Fetlife, so I'll just give it to whoever contacts me first through either route. I hope someone can get some use out of it! xx
  23. I can just about remember when Pampers came in cardboard boxes! These are wonderful!
  24. Hi, I'm over the border in Wiltshire, so not that for away really. I'm keen to make new friends who would understand my AB side. You're welcome to message me if you'd like to chat further.
  25. Yes, that would be amazing! As as side sleeper, I often find this to be a problem. I'd second those suggesting adult potty. I'm really surprised there's no-one out there making one. I'm sure there would be a lot of demand!
