For you guys who have been successful in making a stent that fits your body good. Do you reuse the stent or do you make a new stent each time?
And if you reuse it, how do you clean and sterilize it?

I reuse my stent for as long as I think it will last.  I sterilize it simply by putting it in a pan of boiling water and heating on a high temperature for a couple of minutes before I want to reinsert it.  I've never had any problem with UTIs etc.

  2. I wonder if wearing cloth nappies at night might help you on your way: the thing about disposables is they're designed to make you feel as dry as possible and so, actually, you don't get used to feeling really wet.  OTOH, cloth nappies really do feel wet and if you use them regularly you get accustomed to that feeling.  I've noticed recently that even why my nappies leak (and sometimes the leaks are quite big) I still sleep straight through and wake up in the morning to a wet patch on my bed pad ...

  3. Hey Reddy

Thanks for sharing your journey with us over the last few weeks - I'm pretty awestruck by your decision and courage to carry it through.  Hope everything turns out as you want it.  And I must admit that I can't think of a more beautiful sight right now than you dribbling constantly and uncontrollably.

One of many questions though it may be too early to answer; if you've followed the discussions about stents you may know that often the stent doesn't seem to work so well in bed at night, perhaps something to do with gravity and angles changing compared to being upright; I was wondering if you'd experienced something similar, i.e. waking up at night with the need to pee - or are you going straight through and waking up soaked?

That may be true for some, but most wealthy individuals (see actors / musicians etc as examples) grew up in what is classed in a poor environment.

But now you're guilty yourself of making a false generalisation (although it may just arise from an unfortunately imprecise use of language): the vast majority of actors and musicians are not wealthy - just a very small proportion of the total, many of whom have a high public profile.  If you're going to take someone to task for a poor use of logic, you need to be scrupulously rigorous in your own logic/expression ...

Please let me know if it worked and how it went.

If I had to mention one downside to these super comfortable and safe stents: there is absolutely no reason to pull them out. Don't you also find it tempting to simply remain permanently incontinent?

It's very tempting indeed!  Things just feel right when I'm dribbling uncontrollably and without noticing.  I'll keep you updated with my stenting plans!

    Awesome design! @nappyboymids

Isn't that the best feeling ever? Completely incontinent, but the body gives you no clue why.

Nice. Is the stent suitable for long-term wear?

@cathdiap  Thanks!  It's taken many versions over the years but I've finally got there (the previous version was similar but had the inner tubing through most of its length so it wasn't flexible enough to be comfortable.

And yes, the best feeling ever.  I have urge and frequency incontinence anyway but to have all remaining control taken away and to dribble constantly and hardly noticing is the best feeling 🙂

My longest time so far has been 48 hours but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be a lot longer - hoping for an opportunity to test it over Christmas ...

  7. This is my most recent stent.  I've taken a somewhat different approach to others I've seen recently here.  It's made from a silicon catheter (18fr).  The two 'flanges' (made from rubber 'O' rings) were inspired by a malecot catheter and anchor the stent in place; one sits in the bladder and the other somewhere around the external sphincter.  Between the two is a stiff piece of plastic tubing so there's very little bending possible at that point.  Below that the stent is flexible (just like a cath, which is unsurprising given what it's made of!).  The black 'bulb' at the end enables me to grasp it from the outside and means there's no need for a retrieval line.  It's *amazingly* comfortable - once it's in place I don't feel that it's there at all.  It's also completely stable and there's been no hint of inward migration (for me this has always happened at night but after several nights of trying it out, I wake up with it in exactly the right place every morning).  It's a little bit challenging to insert but practice makes perfect!  Really happy that I've finally found the perfect stent

I fantasise a lot about cutting the retrieval line of my stent. A simple action, but with huge consequences. I know I would never be able to get it out myself. Honestly, I still don't have the guts to do it.

No matter what other people say, incontinence is a very disabling condition. That's why I don't cut the retrieval line.....

    ....at least not now.

    😉

@Cathdiap - Just out of curiosity, in recent years what's your longest period of continuous stent use - and what is the longest period you haven't used your stent?

  9. Getting decent nappies in shops in the UK is a challenge because many people who need them get them free through the NHS, so your best bet is ordering online and having them delivered, either to where you're staying or a nearby pickup point.  One of the best online shops is www.nru.co.uk (nappies-r-us); their delivery is excellent - I've never had a pack not arrive the next day.  Many of the brands they sell will be familiar.

  10. When I was a teen I don't remember knowing anything about incontinence but was certainly fascinated by nappies and did a bit of experimenting - rather more after I managed to get hold of some adult disposables and a pair of plastic pants when I was about 17.  I was already fantasising at that stage about never having to use the toilet again (at age 11 I imagined some sort of magic underwear that you never had to take off and could use for everything ...).  I think what kicked the incontinence element off for me was reading a DPF story in which the main character realises that's what he wants after experiencing his first messy nappy and orgasm (wish I could find a copy of it again ...).  Since then it's been a pretty constant obsession; originally it was about no-one being able to take my nappies away from me but later it became an end and a fetish in itself; I hated feeling desperate to pee so the possibility of always having it flow with no control or pressure was hugely appealing and I also liked the potential humiliation side of having to admit that I was in nappies because I was incontinent.  And, of course, wearing and using nappies just feels awesome.  Over the years, my control has declined and I would define myself as being incontinent for around 10 years now (I've worn 24/7 rather longer); I'd still like to lose more control so what I experienced was a natural, constant and unconscious dribble.  Hopefully some day ...

  11. For me, a constant unconscious dribble is the ultimate form of incontinence - I love being almost unaware of when I'm peeing and utterly unable to control it.  It means I absolutely need protection at all times (except in the shower).  I've never liked feeling desperate or having any urge to pee so an uncontrollable flow is perfect; my nappy does all the work while I get on with other stuff and enjoy the feeling of steadily getting wet ...

To the extent that I have “incontinence desires” I suspect they relation to a rationalisation or a socially acceptable excuse for being diapered.  It goes something like “If I’m actually incontinent, I actually NEED diapers.  Nobody can take them away from me, I don’t have to pretend, I don’t get judged, debate and controversy are OVER.”

This doesn’t reflect well on myself, showing a fundamental insecurity with respect to who I am but it’s being as truthful as I can be.

The upshot of this is that if the destination (diapers) didn’t exist then incontinence (a vector to reach that destination) would be of no interest for me.

Subjected to the same infantile factors of course, I’d probably just have some kind of alternative dysfunction but I can’t know for sure.

Very similar to this for me - I doubt that I would have become interested in incontinence had it not been for wanting to be in nappies more and more.  That said, being incontinent has also become an end in itself because there's something about losing control of such a basic bodily function that I find a huge turn-on; in part it's a humiliation kick - how could an otherwise (reasonably) fit and healthy male be incontinent?  Having to explain to a potential partner that I'm not in nappies by choice but because I really need them is a big thing for me.  And choosing nappies - for a long time the most 'disapproved' of solution to incontinence - only heightens that (as does wearing cloth nappies and plastic pants at night - what better way to scream 'bedwetter' at someone?) ...

Oh yeah that's right, The British use pounds. LOL!????☺️? But it's still the equivalent of the US dollar. What I've never understood, is why The British use Stone instead of pounds like we do here in the US?! LOL! I think going by pounds when it comes to weight, would be a lot easier to quantify. But that's just me.?? But I DO wish our government was more like the British Parliament. Just because I think that would be more entertaining, watching them argue and shout over each other while they try to get their various opinions in. LOL! I think I would pay a LOT more attention to politics if that happened. LOL!??????☺️??♥️???

Trust me, as a Brit, all I can say is that the bit of our Parliament that you commonly see - Prime Minister's Questions - is a monumental embarrasment and waste of time. Rarely are there any worthwhile questions, and still more rarely are there worthwhile answers.

As for stones, all you have to remember is that there are 14 pounds in a stone.  What will really get you confused is that British and US gallons are different volumes because while both contain eight pints, an imperial pint contains 20 fluid ounces, while a US pint contains 16.

@rusty pins  I agree to some extent that our preferences in diapers are tied to when we were little. I grew up in the  80’s and although I don’t remember wearing diapers as a toddler, they probably would’ve been white or blue (if they had gender specific diapers in the early 80’s, which was a thing for a while.)

I think there's quite a bit of truth in this: being a child of the 60s, I used cloth nappies and plastic pants, although I don't remember anything about them.  I didn't encounter disposables until I actively started looking for adult diapers in my late teens and early 20s.  They were fairly low quality then, with very little choice and all medical - the ABDL diaper was a long way from being a thing.  Nevertheless, my preference now is for medical diapers and I always wear a cloth nappy and plastic pants at night unless I'm away from home - those early associations have well and truly stuck.

I rarely buy ABDL diapers as I don't really go for the ABish patterns (I've got some tykables cammies and still got a few tykables p-leather diapers but I bought those precisely because they weren't very ABish).  Also, wearing 24/7, ABDL diapers are just too expensive; medical diapers like Betterdry, Drylife and Tena suit me just fine and feel like a lot better value; they do the job really well and, if I need a bit more capacity, I just add a booster ?

Just something I been a little carious about regarding Personal Homepages you used to see the on internet that from what I can gather where big during the late 90s and early 2000s,  and they basically allowed you to create the page however you like based on what ever you liked ( fandoms, movies, hobbies ect ) ...

You know you're getting old when someone else refers to something you remember well like it was ancient history or a piece in a musuem ...?

  16. Hi all

Ages ago I set up a custom 'New Since Last Time' feed in My Activity Streams so I can see new posts in the (sub)forums I'm interested in.  It's worked fine until a few days ago since when I've got a message on the lines of 'No new content'.  I'm not aware of having reset anything myself to cause this.  Can anyone suggest how I can retrigger the search so that starts working again (preferably without starting from scratch!).

    Thanks!!

I appreciate the advice Diapered Dave & Loveable_guy. I did forget to mention that I actually brought a separate line up through it to sew each cup in place as an added precaution. They are on there super tight (I did some tests) and also extremely flimsy-- I would almost consider them soft, but I agree there could still be some discomfort on both the insertion and removal. I thought that might be part of the reason it would stay in place better where it's seated.

Let's get back to the original concept then. Could you tell me what you see wrong in this design? It slides into place but migrates into the bladder even if I walk around, flex my pelvic floor even once (kegel exercise), lay down, cough hard, etc. On rarer occasions where I had an extreme urge to urinate, they on seldom slip out the other way.

    Looking forward to hearing back!

I think I've found something similar to you in that inward migration was a problem - fortunately, everything that went in came out again.  For me, I realised that the stent needed a bit more 'resistance' to anchor it into place.  My solution was a 'scooby string' (see the pic below) threaded through the outer end of the stent; this acts as an 'anchor'.  Occasionally, at night usually, the stent can migrate outwards a bit, but it's never gone inwards.  I'm not sure if the 'crook' I put in really makes any difference.  Like all these things it takes a bit of getting used to but you acclimatise pretty quickly and after three or four uses I had no sense that it was there and it's easy to get in and out.  For initial 'tests' I left a length of scobby string sufficently long to act as a 'retrieval rope'; once I was confident it wouldn't move I cut it off; retrieval is by grasping the 'bulb' at the outer end through the skin (sitting just behind my balls) and gradually working it out.  The tubing is fairly firm medical grade silicon; I found that the more flexible the tubing, the more likely inward migration was - which is why I gave up try to modify a latex cath.  Sorry it looks a bit discoloured now - it's had plenty of use!  I clean it by putting it in a mug of boiling water and then in the microwave for a couple of minutes.  For me at least this design is perfect - but it took many experiments to get there!
