Forsite - I probably didn't find it, but...
UsuallyDiapered replied to MixerOp's topic in Diaper Lovers
Never tried the striped ones (or any of the other designs), only the plain white ones. They are very good diapers - comfortable, good absorbency, and not terribly bulky. They seem to run a little small - for most diapers (like Tena or InControl) I'd wear a medium, but the medium Forsite's were a bit tight...Maybe I should have gone for size large, but I figured they'd probably be way too big...Anyway, my go-to shop for diapers doesn't sell Forsite's anymore, so I probably won't be buying them again any time soon. -
I think there is possibly a bit of mental conditioning going on...I had a similar experience last week: On Monday I went out for a run with the stent in and, of course, I was dribbling into my diaper all the time. The next night I didn't have my stent in when I went for a run, but I was diapered. I had no issue peeing while walking / running - which is often quite difficult. I wondered if my brain had made a connection with running while wearing a diaper and that peeing whenever the slightest urge hits is just the normal and right thing to do. It could have been a fluke, but I thought it was interesting that I was able to let go so easily without the stent. That is brilliant, @Naviking! Congratulations on making a successful stent and on experiencing what it is like to be 100% diaper-dependent! I could never get @cathdiap's model to work always for me - I even tried again recently (as I documented above). However, I currently have my own design in (I think I have some pictures on one of @Spargano's threads) - roughly 7cm of silicone tube with a bulge at either end to keep it in place at the sphincters. It works brilliantly, and doesn't seem to shift even at night. The feeling of being able to just "let go" and rely on the diaper is amazing! Squeezing to stop the flow is always a moment where I realise how dependent I am on my diaper - there is just no stopping the flow once the stent is properly in place! I agree with you on the dental floss - I wouldn't have the guts to use floss for my retrieval line, so I use a strong braided fishing line. I don't really experience irritation, except sometimes in bed.

Definitely! It's times like that (or as @cathdiap mentioned before, after a shower) where you really feel your total dependence on your diaperπ

These are really interesting observations, @cathdiap and even though I'm not stented often, I can identify with some of your points. On your first point, I never really see diaper changes as a lot of work. I usually change my diaper in my room, unless I'm putting on a diaper after a shower, in which case I'll put it on in the bathroom. I also don't usually wear onesies or plastic pants. Therefore, for me, a diaper change is normally as simple as lying on the bed (or standing against the wall), pulling down my trousers, taking off the wet diaper and taping on a clean one. It is true that changing into a fresh, dry diaper doesn't really make much difference as the new diaper will be wet within seconds or minutes. For me, that's a novelty at first - I guess I'm thinking something like, "Wow...this is the reality of incontinence. I'll put on a fresh diaper, but the cycle of wetting never stops, and I'll be wet again almost immediately". I can see how that novelty could wear off very quickly when one has no choice in the matter and no choice to simply remove a stent when they want to return to "normal". As you know, I haven't really been incontinent via a stent for more than a few days at a time. In that context, for the time I have spent stented, I have enjoyed the ritual of diaper changes, I have enjoyed the very temporary feeling of a fresh diaper, and I've enjoyed the feeling of needing a diaper change to avoid leaking. As I've said numerous times before, I'm glad after all that that I do have the choice to return to "normal" control whenever I like.

100% - huge admiration for those who developed modern disposable diapers. Fundamentally diapers a plastic bag with some absorbent material thrown in, but when you consider the engineering in terms of SAP, leak guards, absorbent cores, locking away pee to avoid press-out leaks, etc. it's amazing! Totally agree - the feeling of total incontinence and relying on a diaper to stay dry is almost indescribable. Granted, for those who never chose or desired incontinence, they could probably describe it pretty well. At least, we have a choice to cause it temporarily and "switch it off" again when we no longer desire it. Only the few of us in this rather odd little "club" will understand π
-
It certainly makes sense - I remember @Spargano recounting on a few occasions how the pressure of the diaper on the urethra would eventually cause a "dam" effect which would stop the flow of pee. In my case - for the very little time I get to use a stent, I will always have a diaper on. I have no issue whatsoever with a wet diaper, but I cannot stand wet pants...whether that's from pee or from getting caught in the rain. Although, I admit I did experiment once or twice not wearing a diaper while stented just to see how long it would take for a wet spot to appear - the answer: a couple of minutes at most! Still, I guess all of this reinforces the absolute dependence on diapers when the stent is in.

So I had my new stent in for a about seven hours yesterday. For a few hours it was draining fine. However, the first thing is that it eventually migrated in while I was lying down for a while - I didn't put in that extra "anchor" at the outer end of the stent, so maybe that's why, but I'm not sure. After about six hours I ran into the same problem that I always seem to experience: it seemed to stop draining even though the stent didn't seem to be too far in or too far out. I've no idea what causes this, but no adjustment seems to help the issue. Perhaps there just wasn't much urine being produced, but that would be odd. It was starting to feel uncomfortable, so maybe the end of the stent is hitting the urethra wall. Back to the drawing board...

How I successfully achieved an OAB
UsuallyDiapered replied to JustAcuteGuy's topic in Incontinent-Desires
Really interesting writeup, @JustAcuteGuy - and welcome to DD! Your approach makes a lot of sense, not just of deliberately peeing more frequently, but of mentally regarding yourself as having OAB. Several members here who have undone their potty training remark that the mindset is so important in achieving the goal. Your sleep pattern is really interesting and smart if your aim is to avoid letting your bladder fill too much. Unfortunately I think I'm too old to be able to handle that pattern long-term π That said, I'm lucky if I get four hours of uninterrupted sleep these days. If I went down the same route as you, however - and it's not really what I'm aiming for anyway - there is no way I'd risk going out and about without a diaper. Even without OAB, I notice so many situations where I think to myself, "I wish I had a diaper on / with me"...I guess the fact that I like wearing diapers already and enjoy their comfort and convenience, I know I would not hesitate to make even greater use of them if I had OAB! -
Thanks for posting the images, @cathdiap. Remarkably, the stent I created yesterday is very similar to yours in shape and, it seems, in the measurements. The middle section of mine is curved slightly, as you can see. Over the past few months when I was using the shorter stent of silicone with a plastic bulge at both ends, I noticed every time I removed the stent it would be curved...So this indicates to me that there is a slight curve in the urethra as it passes through the prostate - hence the curve in this model. Hopefully I'll get to have it in for longer tomorrow or Monday...I'm looking forward to trying it! By the way, I think it's really interesting that you took the stent out after three weeks because you "really wanted to be dry again in normal underwear". You've said it all along, that anyone who desires to go down the surgical route for permanent incontinence should really consider stenting long-term first. No doubt you'll have the stent in again and enjoying leaking uncontrollably in your diapers, but it's great to have the choice to go back into normal underwear - that choice is removed completely with surgery. I have never worn diapers for that long - with or without a stent - but I'm sure I'd be longing for dry underwear eventually. That's why permanent incontinence through surgery will never be a runner for me.
-
That's brilliant that your current stent is so successful, @cathdiap! The feeling you described regarding your dentist experience is something that hits me every time I put a stent in - that knowing that only your diaper can keep my pants dry now. I made my own version of your stent yesterday - I haven't used that silicone and inner tube model in several months. I could only keep it in for a couple of hours, but I hope to try it for longer over the weekend. The main thing that struck me was that I was surprised at how comfortable it was, plus it seemed to remain stable in the urethra and it drained well.

Another person traveling towards Incontinence
UsuallyDiapered replied to Spargano's topic in Incontinent-Desires
Yes, I can see how baby diapers would be useful...they can carried discreetly and inserted into the adult diaper at change time. I imagine disposal is a lot less conspicuous too - if anyone cares enough about what we throw in the bin in the men's room! The problem of migration is always annoying (as we know all too well), but I think it's great that you have so much confidence in your stent design that you'll simply be able to pee it out of your bladder - that in itself is a good design feature π -
Thank you, @Spargano - I have been very quiet because I haven't had much to report! Home life has been such that I have barely had any time to put on a diaper (except at night), never mind putting in a stent. However, when I do get a chance to stent, I'm still using the model I came up with a few months ago - the silicone tube with a bulge at either end. I made a new version last week which is slightly longer between the bulges, and the plastic tubing I used to cause the bulges themselves is a consistent diameter at both ends. I think the slightly longer length has worked well, but as I mentioned above, I tend to get a block in flow after a few hours. I begin to wonder if the stent is gone in too far or if it has come out, and often I can feel it's still in place - the thing is that urine isn't flowing and I can't even push urine out. There are no signs that the stent has been compressed. I have considered that maybe it's blocked by mucous (or something), but I don't see signs of that either. Then I wonder if my body has just slowed down urine production in the evening. So, no clear answers... Obviously, like yourself, I moved away from @cathdiap's design...However, I'm interested to remind myself of what it was like - unfortunately, I threw out all of the models I had made! With my current model I notice that it comes out curved when I remove it - it's like there is a gradual curve around the prostate. I wonder if I could somehow incorporate that into a new model based on @cathdiap's design, and maybe refine it so it fits quite well. So, I'm eager to see what his most recent model looks like!
-
That's brilliant...I still can't get a good night's sleep when I'm stented, even if I'm quite confident that it won't migrate in. I think the thought of wetting my diaper while asleep and stented makes me so excited that I can't sleep - rather like a child waiting for Santa Claus π But then, I don't do it very often, which obviously doesn't help in terms of getting used to it.
-
Well, that's the ideal, isn't it? Having a stent that is so comfortable and effective that it doesn't have to be removed (or that doesn't expel itself). No rush... I'd just be interested in seeing it at some point. Wishing you many soaked diapers in the days ahead π
-
@cathdiap - great to hear that your newest model is working so well. Honestly, it's making me interested in trying that sort of model again as I forget what it was like after all these months! Would you be willing to post a photo of it the next time you remove it? Not that I get to use it much, but my current stent is fine and pretty comfortable - however, I find that after a few hours' wear urine flow tends to get blocked somehow, and I'm not able to figure out why!
