  1. Still a well kept family secret. My current girl friend and a few before her know. A few friends from college . Aunts, Uncles and cousins-not really a secret within the family.
  2. I was born in 1988 and wet my bed virtually every night until around the 8th grade when I started to have an occasional dry night. By the 9th grade I was having dry nights maybe a quarter of the time-sometimes two or three days in a row. I was diapered by my mother in cloth diapers with rubber pants until I was about 6 years old then I started using Goodnites- the original white ones-covered by rubber pants which worked until I was about 10 or 11 and started outgrowing and out peeing them. For the next couple of years I was using attends diapers with the tabs -covered by rubberpants. My bed always had a rubber sheet underneath the bed sheet, and in fact my bed at my parents house still has one to this day. By the time I started high school I was having dry nights so I tried going without the diapers for a couple of years and just had the rubber sheet. Well thank God for that, because I did have some dry spells and dry nights-but when I would pee the bed, I would end up wet from my knees to my chin. I found out growing teenage boys can really pee alot. After a couple years being marinated in pee, I capitulated and asked my Mom to get me adult . diapers and adult plastic pants-since by the time I was a senior in high school I had grown to 6'4". She found them at a medical supply store. By then I was wet at night maybe 2-3 times per week-but when I was wet- I wet heavily. My bedwetting has continued more or less to this day.
  3. I am curious- as a teenager where you would keep a bedwetting chart without advertising to the world you were still wetting your bed?
  4. Also, as a teen I don't think you really had to tell someone you still had nocturnal issues. All anyone had to do was sit on your bed and they would have a clue that you either still had accidents or had a "just in case"mother (because you STILL had accidents :)) I sat on more than one friends bed and just knew. Also, no matter how discrete you think your parents were, stuff would be left out in the open from time to time. Maybe nobody noticed-but I sure did. Also, it always seemed that the mother's of my really good friends just "knew" when I slept over. I think the Moms certainly talked to each other.
  5. My mother bought 3 of them from MyProtex when I was in high school (Class of 2006), so probably about 2004 or so. They were ivory colored and Queen size and I got a new Queen bed when I started high school. She kept one in the closet as a replacement and rotated the other two on my bed. They got used quite often and after a couple of years get quite seasoned and start to take on a faint yellow sweet spot. Those sheets remain on my bed at my parents house and when I am not visiting, are used from time to time by my 10 year old nephews when they visit Grandma and Grandpa. The rubber sheet is directly under the bed sheet. When I moved to NYC a few years ago after law school, she sent the new replacement with me to NYC where it is now on my bed.
  6. Yes-In my case diapers certainly mean I will bedwet with more frequency. However, I sleep much more soundly. I think I pee the bed less without them because I am 1/2 awake all night.
  7. My doctor prescribed something called Enablex. I think is generic name is Darcifinan (probably spelled wrong) or something like that. I don't take it every night because I don't want to build up a tolerance to it, but I take it when I travel or stay over somewhere and it works MOST of the time.
  8. The pullups are more convenient and work for me at night as long as a cover them with plastic/rubber pants.
  9. I did the same thing. When I started to become more regularly dry at night, my mom suggested that if I stopped using the night diapers I would "grow out of it faster". It was the summer before I turned 15. I liked the security of my diapers, and frankly the convenience, so if I was dry too many nights in a row, I would intentionally pee my bed, just so the diapers did not disappear from my bedroom drawers. This went on for 12-18 months before I finally stopped doing it. However, I did continue during that time to also have some legitimate accidents, and those continue to this day.
  10. Isn't that the truth. I could always tell sitting on a friend's bed (and I am sure they could tell on mine) if there was a rubber sheet below. My teenage years rubber sheet remains on my bed at my parents house to this day.
  11. I would think of all places a Disney World hotel would be used to seeing wet beds, given all of the exhausted kids that stay with there parents. I would be stunned if those beds were not protected well.
  12. No. But I am from the west coast. But given that ad, I sure would not have told anyone that I went to that camp. Would be outed for sure. As bad as your mom hanging your diapers and rubber pants out to dry on the clothes line next to the house.
  13. I think you misunderstood. I don't think there were camps specifically for BW, but most camps had some bedwetters (obviously given the age groups involved). I went to camp in the 90's for 6 summers, starting with the age of 8 through 14. In my 8 year old cabin, there were 14 kids and at least 1/2 had "accidents" at least once, many more than once during the 3 week session. I was in the 1/2 that did not have an "accident'-since my parents were smart enough to send me with pull up diapers which I discretely put on in my bed and disposed of in the morning. I wet every single night and no one was the wiser. The same thing continued in my age 9 and 10 cabins, although with less frequency as more kids grew out of the curse. By age 11 and 12, I was in the informal BW cabin, since virtually all of the kids in my cabin had the issue to some extent and all slept with pull-ups. We knew each other from prior years and it was no big secret from prior "accidents'. My last two years, it was more discrete since most of the kids had supposedly dried up. We had a couple of accidents I remember, but not much drama other than that. I slept in pull ups with plastic pants, which I discretely put on under my PJs and took off before getting out of bed in morning. I disposed of the wet diaper on the QT and stuck the used plastic pants after a couple of days in my laundry bag. My parents sent me with about 8 pair of plastic pants so they did not get to "ripe" before I got home. I really enjoyed camp and the fact that I had IC issues my entire 6 years did not stop me from having loads of fun.
  14. I generally do every Friday night, because I do my wash on Saturdays. It takes me back to those carefree days as a pre-teen or young teen when I would often wake up to a soaking wet bed.
  15. I generally wear plastic pants over a disposable. Without them the diaper will leak through the legs, but the plastic pants-judging from how "ripe" they get after a couples nights use, do their job pretty well and keep the bed reasonably dry.
  16. I had similar experiences. I wet just about every night until I was 13 or so. Then I started to dry up a bit, my mom thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the night diapers since I would be less comfortable and would try harder to grow out of it. For a year or so, other than the real bedwetting accidents that were still occuring, I would often pee my bed intentionally if I woke up dry to convince my Mom to return me to the night diapers. I don't think she ever figured it out-however she often checked my bed right after I woke up and jumped in the shower and perhaps figured out that the wet spot was still warm-LOL. I liked the convenience and security of the diapers. It took almost a year, but she did and I slept in diapers until I was around 16-17, when I was ready to stop using them.
  17. Grew up in the 90's using Goodnites. They stopped fitting (and by then I was over-peeing them) when I was about 10-11 years old.
  18. I was potty trained by around 2-1/2 years old. I continued to wet my bed pretty much every night until about the age of 13 and then more often than not through high school.
  19. Many times during the period where I was about 13-18. I was chronic bedwetter growing up and slept in diapers and plastic pants nightly until I was about 13. At that point my mother gave me the option to sleep in what I pleased, as long as I was responsible for my own wash and clean up. Of course at that age, the stigma of sleeping in diapers was horrifying and since my bedwetting was starting to diminish I chose no diapers. My bed had a rubber sheet under the top sheet that wiped down easily after a sheet change and an accident. During that period I had regular accidents and "marinated" many nights in my wet bed.
  20. Yes-- About every night until I was 12-13. Then I kind of started to dry up, but still multiple nights a week even through high school.
  21. At first I thought it was a joke. But the website is real and it gets good reviews: https://sleepopolis.com/mattress-protector-reviews/purple-mattress-protector-review/
  22. I was a chronic just about every night bedwetter until I was 13 or so. Then as I started to become more reliably dry, my mother discontinued my diapers at night since she thought that it would help me become totally dry. I missed the security and, frankly, the convenience of my diapers and rubber pants. For about about a year after that I would wet my bed intentionally 3 or 4 times in a row-which would supplement the accidents I was having anyway, and my mom soon returned the diapers and rubber pants to my dresser drawers.
  23. And during that period, how did you manage it? Still in diapers or change a lot of sheets?
  24. How long after that did it ultimately take you to become dry?
