  1. You’re not likely to find any that are comfortable. For what you want, the over pants would need to fit very, very snuggly around the legs and particularly, the waist. They need to keep water out, in addition to keeping the poop in.
  2. As someone who has become totally incontinent by choice, I haven’t actually messed my diapers while completely asleep. Usually around 3-4 AM, I’ll be awakened by an uncomfortable feeling in my abdomen and rectum. The feeling very quickly becomes so uncomfortable as the rectum contracts that I automatically tense my abdomen and push to quickly finish the bowel movement. At that point, I go back to sleep and wait until I’m ready to get up to shower and change. I’ve gotten so that all of this happens while I’m half awake and quickly get back to sleep, but it’s still a conscious action. As for accomplishing this without having daytime problems, I’m not sure that can be done. Several times, I’ve tried to stifle a sneeze or tensed up while straining to lift or pull something and accidentally messed my diapers. It’s difficult to completely lose control under some circumstances but have normal control under others.
  3. Go back a few years and SAP did not exist or was not then used in diapers. Back then, it was just absorbent fluff. Diapers were thicker and less absorbent then. One problem you could run into with old diapers that have SAP is that they could leak. The SAP crystals can cut through the plastic barrier if the diapers have been moved around a lot.
  4. When I was younger, I tried aiming it down to prevent leaks. However, it would inevitably change direction while I slept. If you’re using cloth diapers, I’d recommend folding them so that there more material at the front waist area. If you fold the diaper inward at the waist, you can create a pocket that might prevent you squirting up your stomach. However, there are no guarantees. The penis changes size many times during the night. So, you have no idea which direction it will be aimed when your bladder empties. These days, aiming isn’t necessary or even possible for me. Medications, age, and prolonged diaper use have reduced m penis to near infantile size and erections don’t change that significantly.
  5. I’d recommend not wasting your money on all-in-one diapers. They are virtually guaranteed to leak. The absorbent material is sewn right up to the leg gathers in the crotch area. As a result, urine will wick out the stitching holes and be squeezed out the leg openings when you sit. I’ve tried many different brands and they all exhibit this problem.
  6. If you use the daytime weight contoured diaper similar to the one from the Adult Cloth Diaper Co., the bulk should not be a problem. I wore those for years under my jeans. With a cloth diaper, bulk = absorbency. You have to decide which is more important; a diaper that is more easily concealed or one that has sufficient capacity to not need changing every time you wet it.
  7. Contoured diapers would meet most of your requirements. However, I’m not sure if they’re available in the UK or where you’d find them. There are a couple of US suppliers. The contoured or fitted diaper eliminates much of the bulk in the crotch area.
  8. I agree. A warm, dry diaper fresh out of the dryer is the most comfortable. Those of you who only wear disposables will never have that pleasurable feeling.
  9. Part of the problem is body hair. The hair also absorbs urine and fecal odor. I’ve found that removing all hair in the diaper area helps minimize lingering odors and eases clean up.
  10. Seeing what the doctor finds and the doctor recommends is probably your best course. Incontinence is a symptom not an illness. You need to know what is causing the problem. Once that is known, you can then decide how to proceed.
  11. It’s certainly a lot less convenient than simply wetting your diaper. Once you have learned how to manage your diapers, using them for urinary incontinence is pretty easy and inconspicuous. You can wear and wet your diapers with very little chance that anyone will know or find out unless you tell them or make it ridiculously conspicuous. Messing your diapers is another matter. It will become very obvious to anyone within 10 feet of you within seconds that you’ve pooped in your pants. In addition, clean up is a pain and is most easily managed at home. Away from home, changing a dirty diaper is a chore and not easily done with no one noticing. Most AB/DLs who are not actually bowel incontinent, prefer not to deal with the problems of changing a messy diaper.
  12. In general, for me a phone is just a phone. However, I’ve done all the things you struggle with and more, and I’m 12 years older than you. You need to catch up,with the times. These days a phone is becoming a Swiss Army knife.
  13. Nair reacts differently on different people’s skin. I have no problem with it if I don’t leave it on for more than 8 minutes. If you want to try it, follow the directions on a small area. Assuming you have no problem with that, then use it on a larger area. Always make sure not to leave it on for more than the recommended time. It also softens the skin and you could wipe away the top layer of skin along with the hair. After using Nair, coat the area with Vaseline or diaper rash cream to protect the skin for the next day or two.
  14. I voted "yes", but that vote comes with considerable qualifications. To be a "normal" person, the triggering event(s) that caused me to become a DL would never have happened and my life would have undoubtedly followed a much different path where diapers played no role except for changing them on the children I may have had. In that case, my vote would be "yes". To suddenly have no desire to wear diapers at this point in my life while still remembering everything in my past, not to mention the fact that I've been incontinent for over five years, my vote would be "no."
  15. I was a bedwetter until I was about 10 years old. As I remember, I think I learned how to diaper myself when I was around 7 years old. It was after we had moved out of the trailer and into our house in the suburbs. I'd gotten used to wearing diapers at night while we lived in the trailer that didn't have indoor plumbing. Even though my bedroom was right next to the bathroom at the house, I seldom woke up to pee and continued wetting my diapers for several more years. This was in the days before pull-ups or disposable diapers, so i took me a little while to learn how to pin cloth diapers on myself.
  16. You can end up in a nursing home/rehab facility for a number of reasons. In my father’s case, the hospital insisted that he go to one post-surgery for recovery because of the need for professionally administered medications, special diet, and for rehab to regain his strength. It had nothing to do with his mental capabilities. So, he was quite aware of being diapered and the inadequacy of the service provided. I spent most of my day at the facility helping him when I could and changing his bedding. I’d hate to think of how he would have gotten along if I hadn’t been there. I took him home just as soon as I could, in spite of the objections of the nursing home administrators.
  17. Assisted living facilities and nursing homes diaper the inmates for the convenience of the staff, not the patients. Most facilities have too few staff for the number of patients they support. So, unless you are completely mobile and able to get around on your own (if that were the case, you probably wouldn’t be there in the first place), you’re going to be wearing diapers. If you weren’t incontinent when you entered the facility, you probably will be by the time you leave (if you leave).
  18. You do have a point in that case. On the other hand, their possible awareness of the AB/DL culture may also lead them to believe they can charge ridiculous prices and still make sales. After all, that was how DPF and other similar organizations made money. They’d sell commercially available products at three to five times the normal retail price because AB/DLs either didn’t know where to find them or wanted 1 or 2 diapers instead of a full bag so they could be hidden more easily.
  19. That’s one way of interpreting things. Another is that items are donated so that they may be sold in order to generate money that can be then used to purchase the supplies that the charity needs to provide services (e.g. meals) for the needy.
  20. Agreed. Shaking the solid waste off the diaper and into a toilet assumes that the waste is not very soft and has not been smooshed into the diaper. Speaking from personal experience, this is seldom the case. It’s far more practical to simply roll the diaper up sealing the mess inside and put it in a well sealed waste container. A kitchen wet garbage container works well as long as it is emptied every 2-3 days.
  21. If you’re a caregiver, you do whatever needs to be done. It’s not a pleasant task, but changing a messy diaper is something that’s unavoidable. With latex gloves, disposable underpads, and a lot of wipes, I’ve done that job while taking care of my father.
  22. In times past, I always made it a point to wear diapers on New Year's Eve and on my birthday. This year and the last few years, I've continued the tradition, but I really haven't had a choice since I've become incontinent. Sorry, I'm not an exhibitionist; I don't go out in public dressed only in my underwear. A diapered elephant parading around in public would likely put a damper on most celebrations.
  23. If you still have the problem, you should be seeing your doctor immediately.
  24. Males can get UTIs the same way females do, but it happens far less often because of the longer urethra.
  25. UTIs are caused by poking contaminated foreign objects in places they don’t belong. Both of mine were a result of my urologist sticking tools up my urethra. The female anatomy allows fecal bacteria to travel up their short urethra into the bladder unless scrupulously clean hygiene is maintained.
