  1. Most US hospitals buy the cheapest diapers they can get low bid. They are usually Medline Wings which are paper lined plastic cut out to fit a Standard Human. Those Medline's do come in ugly colors. Medline diapers are the commonly stocked diapers in the Veteran's Administration Hospital! Even then you have to have a doctor's order/prescription in order to get just the Medline's. To Get anything else requires the doctors to fill out a special order based on need (need being proven by abnormal Cystometry and or Rectal Manometry tests).
  2. I suppose that could work biggest thing might be when through peeing if the cath is empty you could get an infection of some sort wandering up the cath. But sure seems like it would work.
  3. Hi Tara I did catheters for a just over a year. Cath is not all that hard but there is a proper procedure to do it right. There is the kind you leave in and its hooked up to a leg bag or the other type you use to drain your bladder then remove and dispose of the cath. Biggest problem I always had was urinary tract infections after a while the doctor put me back into diapers. When you say use a cath to become incontinent I assume you mean to leave the cath inserted so you constantly drain out your bladder??

  5. Withing six months of my return from the Persian Gulf I started having urinary & fecal incontinence. My diagnosis was made at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and later reconfirmed by the doctors at the National Naval Medical Center and they both performed every test possible. The incontinence was secondary to my multiple sclerosis. The doctor will issue a request for "DIAPERS"!! What you get is what they have in the pharmacy!! If you are remotely located they are shipped thru the supply line by the Pharmacy's Supply Officer. If at a Military installation with a hospital they are a common stock item (Medline Wings classic). If they do not have in stock or the diapers do not work for you then the doctor will reissue the Prescription for a product that will meet your needs. Also ask your Urologist or Gastro doctors as they are more informed what is available. The pharmacy supply has a catalog of products that they can choose from. If they still can't provide something that works then go to the hospital's patient affairs and patient advocate. I was military supplied diapers for over 6 years out of my 26 1/2 yrs before my multiple sclerosis got to the point where I could not perform my job and I was medically retired.

  8. Gee that one with the baby in the walker speeding down the roads weaving in and out of traffic!!!! I can just imagine that child growing up to ride motorcycles like that
  9. I would think it might possibly have to do with an idea by whomever that you might be thinking of them as becoming caregiver versus a boyfriend. girlfriend or lover. Going into a relationship with the feeling that you will constantly changing some one's diaper could be a reason for that person not wanting a relationship with you. And of course the odd chance that you two might be in public when that incident of incontinence occurs and results in an embarrassing moment. I know when my brother takes me shopping with him to get me out of the house it can be embarrassing when my urinary & fecal incontinence kick in and your standing at the cash register with folks looking around for where the smell is coming from. In those situations we always pick a line that has a baby in a shopping cart so everyone in the line will think the Lil stinker in the cart did it.
  10. Dear Amphetamenace if he is "But he's curious, and consenting" of you wearing them have you tried asking him if he would like to try them? Perhaps as suggested above saying to him if he tried you would love to apply the lotion, powder and then then diaper he might try it as part of love making and want more. Just a thought hope it helps
  11. I watched it twice at different sound volumes just to try to understand what they were saying. I wasn't sure if it was an advertisement for Iceland Tourism at Christmastime or a food advertisement for the various foods from Iceland
  12. I am curious snowsuit!! If you think this site is for "FREAKS" and "A BUNCH OF CHILD ABUSERS" why did you take the time to find this site, register and then make FOUR POSTS?

  14. makes it look like the babies are having a pooping contest. makes you wonder what a toddler in potty training think when they see a commercial like that. aka Does it make them want to have a pooping contest in daycare to see who can out poop the other and win the prize.
  15. Personally I sleep in the crib with the railing just above the crib bumpers which are 14 inches above the crib mattress. At just over 14 inches it still prevents me from rolling out of the crib at night yet makes it easier to exit the crib should I need to exit for some reason.
  16. As a 100% disabled veteran I have been wearing diapers even as an Field Grade Officer in the Air force. And yes Pilots do wear diapers especially in long flights and in combat situations were the body is subjected to High G forces. I have chronic fecal & urinary incontinence and yes it provided (and still provides) some embarrassing moments. Most of the embarrassing moments come from the low bid diaper the VA provides. As for hating anyone that wears because of their being an ab or dl I could care less!! To tell you the truth the more folks that are into diapers the demand increases and the diapers manufacturers take notice and increase production. Along with that increased demand also has come a demand from diaper wearers that the fit and quality of diapers be improved. I became an ab as my release for mt having to use diapers! Then I grew to love my ab side (and yes my mental health doctors at the VA know about my ab side). Coming to sites like this give many incontinent folks including myself better information about the various diapers available and their quality in relation to each other than any info currently available on diaper manufacturers & supplier sites.
  17. Well I can assure you that getting out of that crib of mine is NOT easy. See that Poop Bear in the crib! In the sitting position he is 3 feet tall and at my 6 foot tall wearing footed PJ's getting out is almost impossible. The release latch is on the outside of the crib and is blocked by the 1 inch thick by 14 inch tall crib bumpers. As far as getting over the railing which is shoulder level not only does the height prevent climb out but just try raising a leg even above mid body length when wearing a footed sleeper. Gee Puer get your roomates to chip in for the crib instead of car tire rims or a cb.
  18. I wonder if Walmart mannagement approved those guys doing that??
  19. I really have no answer as to who it was in that baby carriage. The site was emailed to me by a friend.
  20. Here is what I posted at caring.com to someone asking about adult cribs As a 100% disabled veteran with Multiple Sclerosis, incontinence, and restless sleeping problems I can tell you a crib has sure helped me. And yes there are serious legal problems that can be associated with restricting an adult. In my case I fall out of bed alot while sleeping and I live alone. Physical restraints do have to be prescribed!! The restraints must also be able to be released easily by caregiver in event of emergency. In the case of living alone the restraints now not only have to restraint but be able to be releasable by the patient in event of emergency. In my case VA provided a hospital bed with the standard hospital rails that pull up. The bed railings do prevent falling out of most patients. Problem in my case hospital railings were horizontal!!@ When I got restless at night I would get caught up in the railing and dislocate a shoulder, leg, or hip. After this happened a few times the VA ordered a crib from Hard Mfg in NY ( http://www.hardmfg.com/ ). The crib has vertical railings like your normal baby crib and does prevent my fall outs. The company can also custom make to fit most situation. The crib works fine and is very easy to open by the adult care giver by simply squeezing the railing release on the bottom of the railing. For the patient that lives alone reaching the release is a bit trickier but can be done by reaching through the railings or the release can be ordered & installed on the inside. To prevent the patient from reaching the release crib bumpers can be ordered. The bumpers are 1" thick 12 - 14" high. A mesh netting could also be used. The crib looks like a stainless steel animal cage but it does work. I no longer have the crib (I didn't like sleeping in a steel cage). But I had a friend custom build a wooden crib out of Black Walnut. The new crib is a Twin XXL size with the same size and function as the one provided by the VA. I am 6'1" tall and easily fit this crib and the railings extend to about 5' over the top of the mattress. When the railing is up I could certainly say nobody is easily ever going to get out of it. The railing also goes to un extended position just at 14" above the mattress and it bumpers. My friend build the crib I currently have and it is heirloom quality in both material and workmanship. He build and sold it to me for $1,000. If you buy one from a manufacturer such as Hard, Simmons, or other be prepared for the sticker shock as the start at $3,900. Since the VA did not want the VA provided back I sold it for $2,500. I have replied in another post here at daily diapers about getting diapers from the Veterans Administration (VA) that yes if you get your doctor to prescribe diapers you can get them. You can also get specific brands of diapers from the VA using http://www1.va.gov/n...MedSurg_Catalog Same goes if you need a hospital bed or crib to sleep in for medical reasons. You can use that same link for cribs This link takes you to the Veteran's Administration internet site, MedSurg Catalog (Non Pharmaceutical) catalog which lists all the Non Pharmaceutical contracts that the VA has. Go to the Item Name/Catalog Number Block, then to Term 1, type in crib What comes up is MANY pages of government contracts for companies selling cribs to the VA. You'll also see it gives a description of the type of crib infant, child, and youth (36"x72"). It also lists the products associated with the cribs. Here are some pictures of my crib which is a Twin XXL size mattress and built out of solid black walnut. The front railing easily slides down and under the mattress and above the pull out drawers to give the appearance of a daybed. The rear railing also comes off to give appearance of an old bed that has high headboard and footers.
  21. "Lasts up to four years between changes!" EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww now that really stinks not only a four year politician but a four year old diaper
  22. Now this was a funny video Can you image being that baby??? in that stroller??????
  23. OK some great advise here. For those of you not knowing me I am a 100% rated disabled veteran. I have Multiple Sclerosis with chronic fecal & urinary incontinence. My condition began about six months after returning from the Persian Gulf in 1991. Yes I wore diapers while in the military until my medical condition was such that I was in front of a military medical board. Believe me as a military member once you develop incontinence they will first think its all in your head. Its only when you are referred to the specially clinics and they finally do all the tests getting abnormal results that they move from the mental to the physical. Urology should request Cystometry tests (suggest you look it up online versus me explaining) and the Gastroenterologist request an Rectal Manometry test (you really have to look this one up it very hard to explain - hope you like balloons ) ) I had the tests done at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and again at the National Naval Medical Center each time test result were well above abnormal. It was only after all the test results that they finally admitted I had a physical problem. By Now believe me in most cases they put you through biofeedback training and Kiegel Exercises to see what they can do to help you. They of course also prescribe almost every medicine know to modern and medieval science. Finally they have you start using a catheter until you get too many urinary tract infections. Then its onto diapers !! Or at least what they call diapers. Well to get down to it!! Your doctor writes a prescription and you either pickup or get mailed these cheap low bid diapers (right now its Medline). As said your doctor only writes a prescription with you size on it. The Pharmacy simply issues "diapers". It only when you can prove that current diaper does not provide adequate protection do they finally take notice. As for me I did I tell them that leaky diaper not only left ring around the butt on my clothes but that they also damaged clothing, furniture, car seats, as well as making your house smell like a daycare center nursery. Well telling them didn't work but when I brought in some washed clean clothing that smelled bad. showed them stained furniture/car that it finally got their attention (as well as their noses). A friend in the VA contracts section told me that they can certainly get better products (aka diapers). And he sent me this: http://www1.va.gov/nac/index.cfm?action=printer&template=Search_MedSurg_Catalog This link takes you to the Veteran's Administration internet site, MedSurg Catalog (Non Pharmaceutical) catalog which lists all the Non Pharmaceutical contracts that the VA has. Go to the Item Name/Catalog Number Block, then to Term 1, type in diapers. What will come up is Sixty (60)pages of contracts for particular diapers and various other diaper related items such as plastic pants, protection items for furniture. So if your doctor or most likely the folks in the walk up pharmacy try telling you that only Medline or some other equally low bid diaper is available THEY ARE WRONG. I suggest that you wander through the pages at the link and see what is available. Pick out the item you are interested in then click on the contract number! What then comes up is a page full of info the pharmacy can use to order that item. Granted some items may require the approval of the head of the Pharmacy or the Prosthesis dept! But armed with a print out of that page or pages from the VA's very only home internet site they will have a much harder time denying your request. And yes there is a head of Outpatient Pharmacy Program Manager and head of the Prosthesis dept. All else fails put your request in writing to them and hand it to them when making your initial request. It will show you mean business as well as having done your research. Good Luck
