Cute_Kitten Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 It was very kind of you to donate your diapers. I'm sure people in need will be very grateful to have them! 2
willnotwill Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 I've got friends who live in Asheville (their house is safe but no power) and their cat living that managed to escape yesterday and are living with us for the time being. 2
Dubious Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Nice of you, but there are plenty of millionaires, and even billionaires that could help and not lose anything. 1

True, but my experience with many are they will donate anyway, and many won't! They don't get rich by giving their money away! Some would rather see a person get kicked out of their home or not be able to afford to eat so they can spend what they make off of them on new expensive luxury cars and vacations! Doctors and Lawyers. Besides, in a situation like this, every bit helps! 1

These people do not acquire that amount a wealth by being 'decent humans'. Better yet they can even convince you with their wealth that they highly altruistic by buying a mass media outlet, hiring outside help, giving you money, etc... This is going to end up being way worse than Katrina which is sad and unfortunate. 1

Can you say "Elon Musk" who bought Twitter and caused half the employees to quit, changed the name and the stocks plummeted? 1
LGGrace Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 I would say every little bit helps right now. Without doxing myself too much, the Carolinas are my home and luckily most of my family lives in the eastern half other than two of my step-sisters and their families that live in western SC. They are OK and only lost power for about a week. One of my sisters-in-law gathered up all of the unused medications from our family church members and all the sample medications from a local family practice, enough to fill her car and give it to a local pilot to fly into western NC today. I'm sending her money to buy as much infant formula and baby diapers as possible for the pilot's next trip. I talked to one of my brothers today who is a lineman working in western SC right now, and he told me that line crews in western NC are finding bodies and are having to work around them until someone can come and pick them up because they can't stop working. I really don't think the national media is giving this disaster the attention that it needs. That being said, Hurricane Milton is one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded right now and is going to hit Florida as a CAT 4 by the middle of this week. 1
