safeandhappy Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 Bloomberg Article Excerpts: "These changes are prompting companies to try all sorts of tactics to boost sales, including developing diapers for older kids and persuading parents to keep their children in overnight pants for longer." "The consumer products giant is also producing diapers for larger kids. In the past year, Pampers introduced a size 8, for children weighing 46 pounds or more. “The diaper makers have been finding ways of extending the lifetime of their customer—overnight pants for toddlers, overnight pants for even older kids,” Hanna says. “So that’s helped a bit."" "Adult diapers are also a brighter spot for the industry as the boomer population ages. Incontinence items for grown-ups are set to remain among the fastest-growing personal-hygiene categories in coming years, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Diana Gomes." 5
MegaChar Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Would be shocked if Procter and Gamble decided to make a abdl diaper 1

The only reason they would make those is to compete in the AB/DL market, or to make a diaper that is. The thing is: we are very discerning about our diapers. Unlike children and seniors who require care, the users are the ones deciding which diapers to buy. I could see Kimberly Clark making an adult version of Huggies, but they might forget about the quality. There are very good diapers out there already and it's a competitive market. RearZ and BetterDry both do a better job at it than P&G. 1

That run would sell out very quickly even at a ridiculous price. All the ABs that bought them would be pissed at the diapers, but they would frame the packaging. And in 5 years the unopened packages would be on ebay for triple the original price. 1

There might be some who will buy them, but there is no hiding a crappy diaper. But, they can do well with a quality diaper and the name. Mind you, I'd have to see how RearZ sells compared to other brands to see how big the ABDL market is. I have no clue, and unless there are numbers, all we have is speculation. 1
ValentinesStuff Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 I wonder if @NorthShoreAdam has any idea what percentage of their sales are to ABDLs.

He told me one time in emails. The thought has crossed the mind to make abdl diapers and true pullups but they couldn't find a machine to make it 2
AB_DeLane Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Companies that make diapers have zero incentive to make it easy for a child to potty train and every incentive to make the process stretch out as long as possible so they can drain every last bit of profit from the child's parents before the kid learns to use the toilet. That's unregulated, late-stage capitalism at its finest -- the pursuit of infinite growth of profits no matter what the cost is to society. That doesn't mean that there aren't some valid reasons for larger diapers, such as for kids with disabilities or ones dealing with bedwetting. And kids are larger now than they were in decades past. But there is also a push from diaper manufacturers to normalize kids being in diapers longer than they physically need to be. For example, the whole idea of waiting until a child is ready to potty train has changed from waiting for the child to have the physical skills to independently use the toilet to waiting for them to make a decision to give up diapers. Whether a child wants to wear diapers or not is irrelevant. Once they have the physical ability to use the toilet, it's the parent's responsibility to teach them. There are many things kids have to learn (whether they want to or not) in order to function in society. And the comfort of disposable diapers and pull-ups makes that process all that more difficult. --- Of course, I would also eagerly welcome adult-sized pampers or even a tape-on variation of Goodnites big enough for adults. 1
diaperuser Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 If they make adult diapers. Would be plain white. Hopefully P&G would make a larger version of Pampers Swaddlers. 1

But, "Big Diaper" is a day late and dollar short in this market. 1
BabyJoseph Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Huggies is coming out with a size 8. I saw it on another site. Their diapers tabs stretch better than pampers
Alyeskabird Posted March 7, 2024 Posted March 7, 2024 There has been a very slow trend to stop demonizing diapers. Hell, its becoming more and more common that kids are starting kindergarden and stuff still in diapers. Theres been a fair amount of traffic about that of late, as the teachers hate it, not there job to change diapers after all. The problem is, most of the folks that make baby diapers, are allready making adult diapers. They are the ones making depends, and attends, and the other grocery store brand crap that you see all over the place in the US.
