How have things changed for you since you started?

Recommended Posts

I have had several previous attempts to untrain over the course of my life, all of which have led me to stop wearing. After the death of my father, I realized life was too short to not go for the things you want, 24/7 was one of many recent changes in my life.

    • Under what circumstances did you decide to go into diapers 24/7?

I have had several previous attempts to untrain over the course of my life, all of which have led me to stop wearing. After the death of my father, I realized life was too short to not go for the things you want, 24/7 was one of many recent changes in my life.

    • How long have you been in diapers?

    2 months, 67 days precisely

    • Do you still own any underwear? If not, how long has it been since you owned underwear?

No, about 3 months. I ramped up to 24/7

    • Do you use your diapers and the toilet, or do you use your diapers exclusively?

    Diapers exclusively

    • Since starting 24/7, have you had to make changes or improvements in response to practical pressures you didn't foresee? e.g., switching diaper brands, changing up your wardrobe, etc.?

Yes! I have recently lost a lot of weight and had to figure out a different diaper. The Confidry mediums were Waaaay too big on me, I switched to the megamax in smalls and am looking for a cheaper alternative

    • Are there any circumstances under which you would definitely leave diapers?

    No

    • Do you think you could easily leave diapers immediately, assuming for some reason you had to?

No, I bedwet consistently and the last few days my confidence has been iffy. I still have control but it's starting to dribble a lot more now.

    If you are untraining:

    • How long have you been untraining?

    67 days

    • How is your control right now?

I had my first involuntary bowel movement yesterday. Bed wetting is hit or miss, but becoming more hit. My bladder feels different, I get these weird little spasms when I pee and sometimes it doesn't go out all the way. I'm using the 12 month guide method, so I'm not going to test my bladder control.

    • If you haven't yet reached your untraining goals, what are they?

    100% Bladder and bowel incontinence

    • Did you have any continence issues before you started untraining? If so, do you think they were a factor in your decision?

I was an unreliable bed wetter from previous attempts, and bowel control has always been a small issue for me. Yes, definitely.

    • If your control now is definitely worse than it was when you started untraining, how does that feel? For example, if you never had bedwetting or fear wetting or messing accidents before and you have them now, how do you feel, or how have you felt, about it?

It is definitely worse. Coughing and sneezing will cause me to pee or mess myself, when I'm hydrated properly I don't really pee, I just dribble, and bedwetting has become much more common, though I do still sometimes wake up needing to pee, I don't move until I do.

    • Do you want to regain lost continence? Have you tried to regain lost continence? How did it go?

From previous attempts I regained my continence, with the exception of bedwetting. I would wet the bed about once or twice a month before I restarted untraining

    • Is your incontinence in your medical records? If you're comfortable sharing, how is it described?

Peripheral Neuropathy, I actually just had this conversation not too long ago. It's medical jargon for "uhh, idk" lol

    • Do you think that if you tried, you would be able to leave diapers over any timescale?

Right now, yeah, but in the future I don't think so, not without seriously retraining.

    Additional Information

Cost is a major factor. I cannot go without diapers, so that being said, budgeting has been a major rework. I just had to make a decision because I noticed I was running low. Don't discount price.

I love this thread! I need to put mine up here hopefully later today. For those of you who untrained but have it on your medical record. How did you go about it?

did you tell the truth or that you have incontinence issues? Did they do any testing? I have an appointment coming up and I’m nervous about the conversation of putting it on my records.

    thanks!

    thanks!

Not gonna lie, it was NERVE RACKING as all hell the first time I brought it up.  The second time it was still anxiety provoking.  The third time it was mildly anxiety provoking.

When I first brought it up I told my primary doctor that I have some incontinence issues and sometimes wear protective briefs and I asked him if he would make a note of it in my chart in case I ever had to strip down for a medical test.   He asked a few questions like if I want to see a urologist.  I said it’s not necessary and I minimized because I was nervous.   He said okay and that was that.   He did put it in my chart.

The second time I brought it up was with my new primary doc and it was disastorous. That doc was terrible and spent the whole time lecturing me and made lots of assumptions about everything I brought up.    I told her upfront because I was planning on flying and I wanted it documented so I don’t  get charged.  She insisted I see a urologist to get my incontinence treated.   I told her I don’t want to see a urologist as it’s a chronic issue, and not something I need treated. I flat out said I’m fine managing with diapers.  She persisted on referring me and I told her that she wasn’t listening to me.  (She wasn’t!) at which point she got flustered and told me to keep  a voiding diary.   She still made the referral and when the office called to schedule, I declined.

Third time I brought it up was with an unrelated specialist during my initial visit. She could see my records from my primary doctor. When I told her she just shrugged and said “one less thing to worry about.”

A couple of pointers I guess:

    1. It is anxiety provoking to tell a medical professional

    2.  Be clear why you are telling them. In my case I wanted it documented so I wouldn’t feel nervous about medical procedures that involve me stripping down to my “underwear.”

    3. You always have the right to politely decline if your provider refers you for treatment.

    4.  It’s okay to say you have anxiety and wearing diapers makes you feel more secure and confident.  That doesn’t mean you are acknowledging you have a diaper fetish or whatever.

    5.  You’ll live.

    • Under what circumstances did you decide to go into diapers 24/7? I suffer from urge incontinence and had been a life long bedwetter.
    • How long have you been in diapers? I have worn 24/7 for 10 years.
    • Do you still own any underwear? If not, how long has it been since you owned underwear? I do not own underwear, I've always been a comando kind of fellow.
    • Do you use your diapers and the toilet, or do you use your diapers exclusively? I do still use the bathroom for #2 and have been good at it being at a specific time.
    • Since starting 24/7, have you had to make changes or improvements in response to practical pressures you didn't foresee? e.g., switching diaper brands, changing up your wardrobe, etc.? We've tried almost every diaper over the rainbow and keep a plethora on hand. As for clothing we purchased me clothing of an appropriate size to allow me to remain covered up and comfortable.
    • Are there any circumstances under which you would definitely leave diapers? Hopefully not. I don't think i'd stop wearing even if i gain bladder continence.
    • Do you think you could easily leave diapers immediately, assuming for some reason you had to? Probably not. They are a part of me. It would be like loosing a limb to me.

Under what circumstances did you decide to go into diapers 24/7?

I have urge incontinence and an overactive bladder. I was a nightly bedwetter until age 17 and was finally dry only because of a bed wetting alarm. I also had daytime issues that I became very adept at hiding. I also had surgery at around age 11 to “cure” my bed wetting which obviously didn’t work but I’m sure the surgeon collected his fee anyway. As I got older my continence was slowly deteriorating.

How long have you been in diapers?

I’m unusual in this group I think because I never really made a decision and don’t know how long it’s been. I have been wearing every time I fly for 20 years out of necessity and then it was for any long drive. Then it got to be to go shopping or anywhere I’d be out for any length of time. It seems that the more I wore the more I needed to where. Now I just wear all the time and I don’t have to worry about it.

Do you still own any underwear?

Yes, exactly 3 pair but they are all incontinence underwear with waterproof crotch and built in padding. I threw out my “normal” underwear years ago because I couldn’t trust myself to stay dry all the time. I don’t wear them but they are there.

Do you use your diapers and the toilet, or do you use your diapers exclusively?

I try to use the toilet for #2 but I’m not always successful. When I don’t make it I’m always thankful I’m in diapers. I think over time I’ll end up using my diapers most or all the time but I would prefer the status quo.

Since starting 24/7, have you had to make changes or improvements in response to practical pressures you didn’t foresee?

I have to wear pants that are bigger than I would wear without diapers but when I go to buy pants now I try them on and since I’m diapered I know they will fit. I’ve found that I favor longer tops because my diapers come up higher than the top of my pants and I’d prefer to be discreet. That being said I know anyone looking at my crotch is going to see I’m well padded because I wear dry 24/7’s exclusively.

Are there any circumstances under which you would definitely leave diapers?

Only in my dreams maybe because the reality is I’m incontinent and it’s getting worse not better.

Do you think you could easily leave diapers immediately, assuming for some reason you had to?

No, not easily, not immediately, not at all.

The For people who aren’t untraining, have you had to deal with unexpected continence loss regardless?

Yes, I had been trying to not be completely dependent on diapers for #1 but that was not to be. I would really not want to be completely dependent for #2 and currently I am mostly successful but time will tell.

Is your incontinence in your medical records?

Absolutely yes. From surgical records at 11, a full continence testing at a major Boston hospital with diagnosis to my current primary care doctor that I wear diapers to my appointments.
