baby_snow_white
I have a question for someone in the UK. What is VAT? Link to comment
Elfy
Value Added Tax. The tax added to a lot of things, though not everything, it is 20% of whatever you buying. It is actually quite common throughout most OECD countries, I think the USA is the only one that does it differently (I think). Link to comment
Hookedondiapers
VAT is equivalent to sales tax in the US. Link to comment
Dubious
In the USA you get ripped off, in a way, since the price tag says (like an example) $100, but you have to pay $120, while in any other country the price tag will say $120 Link to comment

Dubious
What income does states with no tax have? Should be a flat 10% in all states, or give tourists tax exempt, if the tag says $100, I pay $100 and no tipping! Link to comment
Amyuser
I don't know about the UK but when Americans are in Canada if you show you are American and pay with US dollars they deduct the tax. I used to buy my radios in Canada because they were cheaper. Link to comment
Snugglebear_69
I'm in Canada (Ontario) and we pay 13% HST on basically everything. It's better than the 15% we used to pay but not by a whole lot. Link to comment
