Brudda Voodu
So lately my depression has been getting the better of me. So my head doc recommended ECT (shock therapy) at first I thought of poor old Jack Nicholson in the movie One Flew Over The Cucoo's Nest. Link to comment
Elfy
The heck? They still do that stuff? I thought we left the idea of using electrocution to cure mental disorders in the past. Link to comment
wetatnight
the Idea of shock therapy scares the heck out of me. Link to comment

Elfy
I have been reading the wiki article and a few other things for it, still pretty sure if given the choice (as in the past many weren't) that I would turn it down or at least only go for it in a last ditch type thing. Link to comment
Crimson_Wolf
The only thing though is that there is some memory loss when you undergo the procedure. Link to comment
WakkoWannaBe
Well, looks like the answer to Voodu's question is (so far) a solid no. Link to comment
Brudda Voodu
Yes my memory has been effected but nothing too serious. Link to comment
Elfy
Well to be fair, I think I read that people who do this are 1 in 1,000,000, it would be pretty unlikely (albeit not impossible) that someone here does it too! Link to comment
warpiper
I've seen it done before while I was in nursing school, and it's a lot more common than you think. Link to comment
CDLover
BV... I am pleased this has worked for you! Link to comment

Bettypooh
This was discussed when I started Therapy for my depression. I was told it's something of a "last resort" but if it works then that's all that matters. Link to comment
Backindiapers
Yeah its more common than you know. Link to comment

drynot
Please don't think I'm making light of your condition Brudda....but I'm curious.....did you wake up wet? Link to comment
Brudda Voodu
A couple times I have woken up wet. Around 33% of the time if I had to call it something. Link to comment
RPcat18
For folks worried that ECT is cruel or anything it's not it's still a legitimate treatment but to my understanding only really used for people who have depression due to chemical issues in the brain rather external issues.
