City "Mothers" / City "Fathers"  (Term used by a local disk jockey that used to work at one of our local radio stations. He is referring to the City Council members. When I was a kid, there weren't that many women running for office, so when I was little they would always be referred to as city fathers. If there are a bunch of ladies on the council they could be referred to as city mothers, but of course because there are female members of the council now they are a mixture of both mothers and fathers, which is very appropriate since somebody has to take care of the city, and usually a mother or a father takes care of a child, and my city is no different, because it is a child that is being watched over by its mothers or fathers.)
