chronicarchaic
I'm never tried a cloth diaper and I'm rather interested in one. However, I'm wondering how they compare to disposables in terms of comfort, absorbency and washing concerns. Link to comment
Angela Bauer
Disposable or washable diaper is always a question without an answer. There are positives and negatives about all kinds of diapers. Largely it boils down to individual memories of wearing diapers. Generally speaking those who grew up in washable diapers tended to have been toilet trained at younger ages so often have no direct memory of being diapered. On the other hand since Pampers did not introduce the first disposable diaper with sticky tapes factory attached until late 1972, those who grew up in disposables tend to be younger with fresher memories. WakkoWannaBe
I've thought about trying cloth diapers before, but only because I'm a side sleeper and I think it'd be better for night time. Link to comment
Baby Brian
I prefer disposable diapers too, but found they are not enough for me at night since I am a side sleeper and always drink the recommended 64oz of water a day. (which means I pee a lot night or day). I first switched to just a couple of different cloth diapers for night only. I found for someone just getting into cloth I liked the leakmaster prefold from adultclothdiaper. I also found I much prefer the activewear pul pants over plastic pants too. (and that all in ones aren't as good for performance and usable life). 1 Link to comment
WakkoWannaBe
^ I'll have to remember all of that. As someone who would buy a cloth diaper for the exact same reasons as you got into cloth, it's great info! Yay! Link to comment
chronicarchaic
Hm, very nice info. I'm still considering when I buy a onesie as I may want to diaper up but maybe not wet myself. It would be great to save on disposables that way and I should be able to wash it wish my regular laundry if need be. Not to mention just to have one would be fun Link to comment
messyman
They require work and planning unlike disposables which you can throw on any time and toss. Link to comment
heartwood
I have studied cloth diapers for the past few years and it is a whole new ball game. I have a vast knowledge on the subject. So much I have learned to sew. I have found myself surrounded by my diapers and would be happy to make one for you. If you have any specific questions let me know, here is a link to my work. http://matl01.tumblr.com And some links for my fav cloth diapers, http://www.pshealthcare.co.uk/incontinence/details.asp?product=ladies_washable_bedtime_pants_71_15 http://www.handicapincontinence.fr/couches-lavables-pour-adulte/210-incontinence-adulte-couche-lavable-pour-adulte-et-enfant-kiddy-care-kiddybips.html http://www.staydry.com.au/ladies-range/easy-fit http://www.saveexpress.de/de/inkontinenz-mehrweg/joschi-lotties/5441/jo.inkontinenz-windelhose-gr.-large-inko http://www.babykins.com http://www.adultclothdiaperme.com http://www.rearz.ca Link to comment
daisy
I bought an adult cloth diaper pattern a while ago and want to put one together, but it kind of seems like more trouble than it's worth. Disposables are so easy. Link to comment
turtlepins
My gauze diapers last about six to eight months and then get turned into rags for dusting and stuff like that, or just get thrown out. Link to comment

BabyJune
I've never worn disposables, but from my experience, cloth diapers are comfortable, soft, and when used with a Zorb absorbent panel, they work great. I also make waterproof pants out of PUL fabric that "breathes," so I don't get that clammy wet and sweaty feeling even when I wear all night. Link to comment
