24 hours in diapers

Recommended Posts

So I decided to spend 24+ hours in diapers for the first time. Yesterday when I got off work I took a shower and put on a tranquility ATN. My wife and I went out for dinner and drinks and ended up at home around 11. This is fairly normal for a Friday night for us. Today when I got up I had to make a 4 hour drive and back to get some car parts. I changed in the morning and packed 2 diapers and headed out, determined to use only diapers all day. I made it 2 miles from home, when I stopped for gas I felt the urge to poop. So while the pump was running I filled the back of my diaper. Now I had a 45 minute drive before I hit a rest stop so I could change. The drive was interesting, feeling a very solid lump shift at every turn. I got to use an empty rest stop for my first public change ever. It went well, taking around a dozen wipes and some rash cream. I rediapered and was on my way. I stopped for a soda and was moving well along. I peed too much for the tranquility ATN and leaked. So, into a truck stop I went, diaper leak marks that any mom could spot were clearly behind me. I changed in a busy restroom and was on my way again in my last diaper. I finally made it to my destination and got my parts. So I started heading back and knew that I'd poop again. So I stopped at a CVS and bought a bag of their crappy cloth diapers. As I was pulling out of my parking spot I filled my diaper again. This time it was a little softer. I drove for about an hour with no rest stop in sight, so I stopped at a gas station with a single bathroom. Without knocking, the attendant tried to key open the door. I yelled. They stopped. Now I'm on edge. After a dozen wipes I was clean again. I put on a cheap diaper and ripped it down the middle, then double diapered. Now I felt safe again. Of course 1 mile after being back on the road I saw a rest stop sign. I stopped at burger king and relaxed with my lunch. Then I continued on to the next rest stop where I changed into a single diaper. It was an uneventful change. Someone came in and peed. I'm sure they heard my diaper rustling as I was putting it on. But hey, I'm incontinent today. I finished my drive home having a new appreciation for 24/7 wearers. I loved the experience and will do it again. So my 24 hour experience used 8 diapers, had 2 poops and 1 leaker. It was fun, and I think I enjoy this lifestyle more after today.

Thanks for reading about my day.

My favorite diaper is a dry 24/7 but those just came back. I spent the rest of the night diapered too so aside from church this may be a complete diapered weekend. I'd love to spend a weekend in dry 24/7's!

A thicker diaper is much less noticeable than a thin one that has leaked. They are cheaper overall too since you change less often thereby having to buy less over the same amount of time.

8 diapers is a lot. I would recommend Abena 4 or Molicare. A thick diaper, the better. ATNs are good too but the other two hold more. I wish I could poop that easily.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Now that Dry 24/7's are back, I'll be getting more of them so I shouldn't have the leaking issues. It was definitely a learning experience that I want to do again, many times. I'd like to go an entire weekend staying diaper dependent some time in the future. I think the coolest part was how relaxed my wife was. Sleeping in diapers has been pretty normal on weekends but staying in them all day and even going on an out of state road trip was unheard of for me. She saw me packing a bag and never thought twice. I think she knew that if we talked about it then my plan would fall through. The next morning she saw me unpacking a bunch of junk diapers into the truck and I told her what happened. She actually felt bad for me having to wear store brand cloth covered diapers. It doesn't get much better than that!

I've done 24 hrs before, (never in public) but either way, I agree with Spokane Girl. 8 is a lot, even for cheap diapers. Unless you actually get a rush from changing in a public space, I'm with the others that say invest in some better diapers.

i've been on business flights wearing a diaper and an open catheter :-D i don't mind changing "in public" (but restrooms aren't that public) especially where nobody knows me. it's easier and more fun when i'm by myself somewhere, because even though my wife knows i like this, my kids don't (and won't, if i'm good about it) so changing is difficult to manage and leaking would be disastrous with them around...

I plan on doing this at least 24 hours this long weekend, it sounds like a fun challenge. I will need to plan some activities so I am not at home the whole time.

I'd wanted to go 24 hours for a long time now. The timing was perfect. Going a long way away in case anything embarrassing happened and not having my wife around to smell #2's made it ideal. Once I learned to have a system it was great. 12 wipes and a plastic bag for a poop. 10 minutes and I'm clean and rediapered. Good luck with your weekend!

I have gone a whole weekend and beyond in diapers and yes it's a fun thing to do  but you also learn to appreciate what those who wear for need have to go through also. I was fortunate to have a hotel that I was using so I wouldn't have to change in a bathroom somewhere and deal with that hassle. I had to do that on another trip a few years before, cleaning up a messy Molicare super plus wasn't fun, just glad I had the restroom to myself

So it does take some doing, and practice, and time, but mostly it takes GOOD DIAPERS! I tried the ATN's long ago and didn't like them, so i stick with Abenas or other extended wear brands. Wellness briefs are a good choice as well.

just as long as no one gets hurt ;)

Thanks for the tips and good wishes! I'll report back here with a complete writeup of my experience.

Gone with same diaper for 24 hours (Slip Maxi no stuffers), its all about directing the pee where you want it :P

But usually I use at least 2 per 24 hours

Zpeed, I'm concerned you're not drinking enough water. I'm barely taking in the recommended amount and I go through an average of four xp absorbency pluses each day (similar capacity to an abena x plus, or molicare super). I've found a tena slip will only hold about half of an xp diaper, which roughly equates to you only taking in one eighth of the recommended amount of water. Is that right?

I can imagine the diaper smelling bad due to lack of water and for having it on for too long. The pee starts smelling real bad when it's out of your system for to long and the smell gets stronger and stronger. I have noticed how bad my wet diaper smells the next day when I had put it on the day before.

Always wanted to try this, may need to make it happen soon. The idea of going about a normal day while wearing and using it/changing wherever I may be sounds like an awesome time.

It is rather nerve racking/turn on the first time I wore diapers out and about. Now a days it is not a big deal. I wear a diaper such as ABRI-Wings. These diapers have vulcro tapes and I consider them to be a discrete disposable diaper. The diaper holds well, at least 6 wettings. I wear plastic pants over them just in case, although during the hot months in Hawaii I just wear the diaper without the plastic pants. I carry at least 2 extra diapers with me and keep them in my truck.
