baby-dandan
Man, I thought no one would get that! I think Chris probably went to the same concert I did. Well, maybe not, since live in a different state. I saw them at a club in Salt Lake City with my brother and some friends. I love going to punk concerts! Ok, another one! And sometimes when the game is on the line tessie always carried them away up the road from third base to Huntington the boys would always sing and sway...2..3..4 Tessie old Jim Mcgrady shouted were're not here to mess around Boston you know we love to hear the crowd roar to your sound Don't blame us if we ever doubt ya you know we couldn't live without ya Red Socks you are the only only only only! That song was on the soundtrack of a recent movie, which I thought was pretty good. Link to comment
D_Rainger
Hi, I'll bet that was Dropkick Murphys' "Tessie." It was on the soundtrack of Fever Pitch, am I right? Now do I get to do one of my own? -D_Rainger Link to comment
Guest diamondback688
you only get to do your own if you get that one right... Link to comment
D_Rainger
That is what I'm asking. Am I right? -D_Rainger Link to comment
baby-dandan
You got it right, D. Rainger! Go ahead and post your own. I really haven't guessed any of them right, but I've posted some of my own, so go for it! Link to comment
D_Rainger
This song was a one-hit wonder from a 5 piece British group that was made up entirely of RAF pilots that were noted for flying very low, hence, their "anonymous" name. Doctors finding many ways Of wrapping brains on metal trays To keep us from the heat To keep us from the heat To keep us from the heat Bet you get it right away. -D_Rainger Link to comment
diaperwerx
My guess is Mike McGear (sp) The Scaffold Next up another easy one: "What happened to the dream sublime? Tear it all down, we'll put it up again." dw Link to comment
D_Rainger
Nope, Diaperwerx, who were the original artists? Think 1960's...... There is a big clue in the "anonymous" name!! -D_Rainger Link to comment
D_Rainger
Sorry, didn't mean to make this too hard. Here are the complete lyrics: It's good news week Someone's dropped a bomb somewhere Contaminating atmosphere And blackening the sky It's good news week Someone's found a way to give The rotting dead a will to live Go on and never die Have you heard the news What did it say? Who's won that race? What's the weather like today? It's good news week Lots of blood in Asia now They've butchered up the sacred cow They've got a lot to eat It's good news week Doctors finding many ways Of wrapping brains on metal trays To keep us from the heat It's good news week Someone's dropped a bomb somewhere Contaminating atmosphere And blackening the sky It's good news week Someone's found a way to give The rotting dead a will to live Go on and never die Have you heard the news What did it say? Who's won that race? What's the weather like today? What's the weather like today? It's good news week Lots of blood in Asia now They've butchered up the sacred cow They've got a lot to eat It's good news week Doctors finding many ways Of wrapping brains on metal trays To keep us from the heat To keep us from the heat To keep us from the heat Someone should get this one now. -D_Rainger Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Grrr, I could probably sing this song without even looking at the lyrics you've posted but I can't remember the title or the band (an eternal problem for me) and I won't cheat and Google it. Someone post the answer please, to stop me racking my brain! D lly Link to comment
ChrisKnight
This one is before my time Link to comment
D_Rainger
Another hint: RAF pilots were called "hedgehoppers" because they flew at low altitudes. The person that wrote the tune (not one of the band members) gave them the "anonymous" part of their name. The title of the tune is also repeated several times in the lyrics. I was about 11 or 12 when the single became a hit stateside. I thought it was about the neatest thing I had ever heard. Remember that we were in a time of civil unrest at home and at war in Southeast Asia. I thought the song said it all. Hope you can guess it now. -D_Rainger Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Do you want the good news or the bad news? The good news is that I know it's called "It's Good News Week" but the bad news is, I can't remember the name of the group. D lly Link to comment
D_Rainger
Good job! I'll give it to you. The group was "Hedgehoppers Anonymous." Very nice to see someone play by the rules. It was a case of a one-hit wonder. I'll try something a little more mainstream next time. Your turn Dolly....... -D_Rainger Link to comment
DollyDiaper
I'd never have got that if I'd had a million years to think about it, so thanks for your generosity in giving me it on barely a pass-mark D Rainger This is the last part of another 'oldie but goldie' - Woke up, fell out of bed, Dragged a comb across my head Found my way downstairs and drank a cup, And looking up I noticed I was late. Found my coat and grabbed my hat Made the bus in seconds flat Found my way upstairs and had a smoke, Somebody spoke and I went into a dream I read the news today oh boy Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire And though the holes were rather small They had to count them all Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall. D_Rainger
You must like the Fab Four, Dolly. That was one of the last Lennon / McCartney collaborations. Must have been Sgt. Pepper's? I'll let someone else play, though. -D_Rainger Link to comment
ChrisKnight
There are no official lyrics to this one, so I'm using the ones from when it first came out on an Album/EP/Single. Out of town she came eyes open and staring up at me Only two lovely eyes, so red and raging... Wait until I come and she would leave you Wait until I come and she would go Wait until I come and she would leave you Wait until I come and she would go Watch it man, leave it where you lie I come for you, a-lightly I suck up into your mind We'll leave it all behind I sell it to the lonely I march up into your eyes Oh little chicken eyes open and staring up at me... Wait until my momma gonna see me with a you Take a good look, momma, gonna see me with a you Take a good look, mama, let me tell you well my momma said "Lie..." Hey man watch it where you lie I come into your psyche You're sleeping - I'm in your mind Link to comment
D_Rainger
Wait! Nobody guessed Dolly's song. What is the title and who were the artists? -D_Rainger Link to comment
diaperwerx
My guess is that Dolly is referring to song by John Lennon and NOT the beatles as certain portions of the lyrics show up in beatles songs but nothing shows up in its entirety. Anyone else have an idea? Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Are you deliberately trying to mislead peops DW? It's a track from the Beatles' last album and NOT a John Lennon solo track. Talking of tracks, D Rainger was on the right track D lly Link to comment
D_Rainger
Lennon / McCartney hired a bunch of stringed musicians for the climactic finale of the song. It must have been quite a day in the life of those artists. Ha! Ha! -D_Rainger Link to comment
D_Rainger
"A Day In The Life" - The Beatles (from Sgt. Pepper's) -D_Rainger Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Worse than pulling teeth eh? So where are your lyrics then DR? D lly Link to comment
