D_Rainger
Twin leads, two drummers, an impossibly soulful vocalist - Rolling Stone Everybody wants to know where Jimmy has gone He left town, I doubt if he's coming back home Well Tony got a job, three kids and a lovely wife Working at the Commerce Bank for the rest of his life Nobody left to run with anymore Nobody left to do the crazy things we used to do before Nobody left to run with anymore I'm gonna hit the road, adios my friend Go someplace and start all over again Don't know where I'm going, like a gypsy out on the road I'll go someplace and join a traveling show Name the artists and the title of the song then post your own so someone else can guess. Hope you get it, -D_Rainger Link to comment

D_Rainger
It's not what I would call country and it's not that old. The album is from the 90's -D_Rainger Link to comment
MyNameIsDee
I still cant imagine who it could be *looks puzzled* Link to comment
D_Rainger
Boy, I'm sorry, I didn't think it would be that hard! It's the Allman Brothers Band from their album "Where It All Begins." It was recorded in 1994. Supposedly Dickey Betts wrote it about leaving the past behind and starting a new life. Take a good close look at the chorus, and you should be able to guess the title. I'll accept anything that is close. -D_Rainger Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Thanks DR but your clue has still left me clueless Taking a major stab in the dark here - is it called Nobody Left? D lly Link to comment
D_Rainger
*DING*DING*DING* (bells, whistles, chimes). Close enough. It's called "No One To Run With." I won't make them so hard next time. Of course, it is possible that my musical taste is so far off center that no one can relate. I was brought up on Lesley Gore and the Beach Boys from my brother's influence. I graduated to The Ventures ending up with Creedence, Santana, The Doors, Malo, mixed with Glenn Miller and Leadbelly. Strange huh? I'm stuck in the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's GO FOR IT DOLLY! -D_Rainger Link to comment

I tried to hide from your love light, But like heaven above me, the spy who loved me, Is keeping all my secrets safe tonight. The way that you hold me, whenever you hold me, There's some kind of magic inside you, That keeps me from runnin', but just keep it comin', How’d you learn to do the things you do? Guest diamondback688
you are correct ma'am...that movie came out in 1977, so that makes the song pretty old...ok, here are my lyrics: I used to like to walk the straight and narrow line I used to think that everything was fine Sometimes I'd like to sit and gaze for days through sleepless dreams All alone and trapped in time All alone and trapped in time I wonder what tomorrow has in mind for me Or am I even in it's mind at all Perhaps I'll get a chance to look ahead and see Link to comment

DollyDiaper
Now I'm not sure which is harder, answering or asking, but here goes - (Verse 1 and Chorus cut out, too easy ) CHORUS The telephone is ringing I say, "Hi, it's me. Who is it there on the line?" A voice says, "Hi, hello, how are you Well, I guess I'm doin' fine" He says, "It's three a.m., there's too much noise Don't you people ever wanna go to bed? Just 'cause you feel so good, do you have To drive me out of my head?" CHORUS I was sick and tired, fed up with this And decided to take a drive downtown It was so very quiet and peaceful There was nobody, not a soul around I laid myself out, I was so tired and I started to dream In the morning the parking tickets were just like A flag stuck on my window screen D lly Link to comment
baby-dandan
Hi Dolly, The name of that song is "Get off of my Cloud" by the Rolling Stones. A great song, if I do say so myself! Here is a song, it's a little bit sad in a way, but I'll let you be the judge. "Oh how do you do young Willey Mcbride?" "Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside?" "And rest for a while in the warm summer sun." "I've been walking all day and I'm nearly done." "And I see by your grave stone you were only 19," "When you joined the great fallen in 1916." "Well I hope you died quick and I hoped you died clean," "Or Willey Mcbride was it slow and obsene?" Chorus "Did they beat the drums slowly?" "Did they play the fife lowly?" "Did they sound the death march as they lowered you down?" "Did the band play the last line and chorus?" "Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?" "And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behind?" "To that loyal heart is your memory enshrined?" "And though you died back in 1916 to that loyal heart your forever 19." "Or are you a stranger without even a name?," "Forever enshrined behind some old glass pain." "In an old photograph torn, tatered, and stained." "and faded to yellow in a brown leather frame." D_Rainger
"Willie Mc Bride" by Tommy Makem & Liam Clancy from "The Makem & Clancy Collection." (I like "Red is the Rose.") Now mine - Probaby the most cult classic of all the cult classic rock tunes: In-A-*****-Da-****, honey, don't you know that I love you? In-A-*****-Da-****, baby, don't you know that I'll always be true? Oh, won't you come with me and take my hand? Oh, won't you come with me and walk this land? Please take my hand! (If you can believe it these are the complete lyrics. The title is contained in the first and the third lines, so I have blanked out some the words to make it a little harder.) I still get off on the 10 minute drum solo. Ok, NAME & ARTISTS! -D_Rainger Link to comment
