Should I "Lottery Off" My Bambino'S

I get these crazy ideas all the time.

I've got 6 packs of Medium Bambino's still in the case.

That's 24 Classico and 24 Bianco.

As some may know, they sell on their website for about $65 (shipping included)

So I can't compete without breaking even or at least not taking a big loss in shipping.

What if we took 75 entry's for a dollar.

And one lucky person gets a case of Bambino's for a buck.

We send a buck via Pay Pal.

To keep it legitimate, I might ask Mike (or another trusted person) to hold the money in escrow.

That way, everyone knows it's a real deal and not a scam.

If we want to include our Canadian friends, we do a 100 entries.

Custom's, etc. is insane (almost the cost of the diapers themselves.)

So I need input.

I hate not being able to use & enjoy these when someone else can.

It could be fun.

And for a buck, it could really make someone happy, I think.

And if there are any monies left over, It's put into the D.D. "piggy bank".

If I know my US law, I think that the only LEGAL place gambling is allowed in the US is in Los Vegas, and that is under strict licensing laws. Any other lottery is strictly controlled by state. Even, gambling on the internet, where the servers are located within the US borders are strictly controlled. As a result, most of the US owned 'on-line poker' sites are located in other countries.

If, as you say, you have 48 diapers (24 Classico and 24 Bianco) why not sell them for $2 each plus postage.

~~ 48 diapers @ 2.00 each = $96.00. Cost to you = $75.00 approx. Difference = $21.00 which should cover the cost of 48 C4 size envelopes.

but this is not a lottery, this is a raffle..... technically... but yeah there are laws about that.. best bet is to put one of each bag on ebay, and then the other two bags put em into 2 or 4 sampe packs, some people will pay lots of money.

Both aren't legal here :( unless you're the government :P or all the funds go to a 501c3 registered charity  That doesn't mean it doesn't happen- just not openly :whistling:

Ebay is something of a hassle, but yeah the payoff would be good B) If you want to move them faster a multiple item B.I.N. auction would likely help ;) Craigslist is another thought but that's usually a face-to-face sale :angel_not:

I will clarify, gambling in any other state other than Los Vegas is illegal in the U.S.A. That includes, but is not limited to raffles, lottery, card playing etc. This means that it is a prosecutable offense if one is found running one. Card games, games of chance, dice, raffles, etc. It is illegal for an American citizen to partake in these games of chance where money maybe exchanged.

All current lotteries etc that are in operation within the US states are run under accordance of state and federal law, licenceed and monitored.

I think, but am not sure, that this is an extension of the Sales and Services act. The crime, I think, is where American dollars are wagered. Our resident lawyer can confirm this, if she so wishes.

you mean gambling not in a casino right?

cause we have loads of casinos up here in washington state, and they are all legal, but only the ones on the reservations can have slot machines, the rest can only have table games.

in oregon they have slot machines in all the bars though!

Yes, I do mean those as well. The casinos are operating under strict controls as stated by their license. There is an option, although very few people avail of it, to play a casino game without money. I will do a bit of research on the laws, and find the one that is inforce in the US. I think that it has something to do with the right of the American gov to print and distribute the dollar.

The basics of the law states that it is a prosecutable offense to wage the American dollar on the outcome of a game of chance. There are exceptions to this, but I will get the full info and post it here.

yeah i was gonna say we have casinos everywhere up here!

but i didn't think it was illegal for people to have poker games at their own house, as long as they were using chips instead of money, and if it so happens that the chips represent a certain amount of money, ... oh well...

i mean my friends and i play poker all the time and use chips... only afterwards when the game is over to we divy up the money pot according to the amount the chips are worth.

I would hope the cops would have something better to do than arrest a couple of late 20 somethings for playing poker in the privacy of their own home, where the chips are worth nickels, dines, and quarters! lol

It is illegal in the US, without licence. Even for a US citizen to gamble online is illegal. That is the sole reason that ALL the poker sites have their servers located not within the US borders. 70% of US online poker site servers are located in Dublin, Ireland, and the other 30% are in Europe. E-Bays worldwide servers are located in Blanchardstown, Dublin, Ireland to avoid problems with auctioning laws.

Statically, although most of the internet is owned by US companies with the largest domain extention being .com, 55% of the internet traffic terminates in Ireland, 35% is the US (Goolge and Microsoft taking a huge responsibility for that) and 8% is to central Europe. Microsoft have 10% of its servers located in Sandyford, Dublin.

Silly to think, but if Ireland switched off its electricity, over half the internet would be down.

It is hereby declared to be the policy of the legislature, recognizing the close relationship between professional gambling and organized crime, to restrain all persons from seeking profit from professional gambling activities in this state; to restrain all persons from patronizing such professional gambling activities; to safeguard the public against the evils induced by common gamblers and common gambling houses engaged in professional gambling; and at the same time, both to preserve the freedom of the press and to avoid restricting participation by individuals in activities and social pastimes, which activities and social pastimes are more for amusement rather than for profit, do not maliciously affect the public, and do not breach the peace.

from http://www.Gambling-Law-US.com/State-Laws/Washington/

so basically, if i am having a poker game in my house, and we happen to be playing for pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, but we are all friends are not maliciously affecting the public, are not breaching the peace, and its clearly for amusement rather than profit. its not illegal!!! YAY casino night is still on!!!!

also this from same site

as used in this chapter means a card game that constitutes gambling and is authorized by the commission under RCW 9.46.070. Authorized card games may include a house-banked or a player-funded banked card game.

so again if we are just at our house playing poker and are funding it without our own change, its pretty much legal...

this site has all 50 states and the federal gambling laws.....
