Getting Found Out At Pc Repair

The only thing we had to actually concern ourselves about was reporting illegal stuff to the police, you can guess what that is, and we only found that once. The guy got let off though because he was proven to be at work when the stuff was downloaded and he found out his 13 year old son ditched school that day. :D

I was thinking along those same lines. From time to time I see in the paper where someone has been arrested after taking his computer in for repair and porn images have been found on it. I'm not talking regular porn, I'm talking about kiddie porn and things like that. I'm relitivly sure people here aren't into that crap, but you never know. As far as diapers, I think it might help to erase your browser history and delete some cookies but it's not any type of gurentee that computer repair pepole won't find things on your computer. Hey, looking at diaper sites is not illegal, but you may get some rather strange looks from the repair tech when you go to pick up your computer! Oh, and burn all your saved diaper pictures to a CD and delete them from your hard drive first! Especially if you have any of some legal aged people who look much younger than their actual age!

looking through your history seems like it should be qualified as an invasion of privacy if the person is a complete stranger or has nothing to do with you, and while its very easy to see where you've been on your computer, they should just do their job instead of looking to see what sites you've been on. of course i dont know if it could qualify as invasion of privacy because for example cell phones aren't considered to be private and school officials can look through cell phones to see what you said and to whom very easily without any kind of warrant, so maybe computers fall under the same area of property.

Ok, it boils down to this. I worked on computers for 28 years now. I mostly have only dealt with businesses.

I will add this my niece has a boy friend that is going through a computer tech school. Of course he knows more than anybody before him. :glare: He brags about how he goes to peoples homes to work on their systems and scans their drives looking for anything, music, pictures. and why not web links.

hence the caution.......... i just dont want to get busted f that it is a big no no.. ppl would take it the wrong way where i live

i would get labelled as a paedo or some s shit like that.

i suppose im just going to have to learn pc repair lol.

I assume you're using windows. . .

I had a simple batch file I wrote and added it to autoexec. It erased the history, the hidden history file, and some other stuff, (i forget now. .) but all I had to do was just restart after a browsing sesh and it was all gravy. And mom was pretty savvy back in the day -- she knew how to snoop almost as good as I did. Almost. :)

You can delete files off your drive all day long, and I'll put them right back in place in minutes, as long as they haven't been overwritten yet.

You can find software on the net to do this with little or no knowledge.

Get a fair size thumb drive or external, use Firefox Portable.

Firefox can password protect your browser (should someone find the drive)

Save your photos to your 'special" drive only, secure the drive. If you think you need to, encrypt your photos.

All of this still won't protect you from someone who's good and willing to spend to time, but will stop your SO, roommate or little brother.

Batch file, autoexec?

I'm a dinosoar but really, in the world of Windows do these things exist? Years ago I used these things but they were the providence of ms-dos. And you claim to be 22. :D

Newsflash: Windows XP STILL uses the old-style config.sys and autoexec.bat files, because it still loads a DOS-like shell BEFORE loading the actual GUI.

(I've been building PC's since 1995, and I ALWAYS setup those two files on every machine because they are still the FIRST to load on EVERY boot.)

geeksquad got busted because people were copying files off customers PC's onto their USB keys.. I have an ENTIRE copy of firefox hidden in a truecrypt volume with no shortcuts, all the temp files are hidden in that drive. all my porn and music is stored in there, granted I'm a IT administrator so I don't need to send mine in. but I don't take any chances. I lock all my shit up tight when people use my desktop.. I was sure I was outed last week, a girl I had a crush on used my desktop, I went to load up myspace for her, and mydiaperspace.com came up instead.. OOPS. I just loaded up IE for her.

Great are you guys sure that computer guys can still find out? I delete my history AND the cookies! That's really bad if they do figure it out... i've had some computer guys even friends fix my computer before and they've never said anything though. You mean this whole time they know I go on this site?

you know their talking crap about it, they just won't tell you.

Are you serious?! I still don't think so. I delete the cookies and history, I don't know what else there or how they could possibly see on it by doing a computer clean up or download anti-virus systems...

When you delete stuff on your computer all it does is open up that space on the hard drive. Until you save something onto that same spot on the drive it can be read with the right tools. Tech guys have these tools to find recover stuff that people accidentally deleted. If you are really paranoid there are programs that overwrite data onto the used spaces to prevent it from being recovered.

If they want to there is nothing stopping them from seeing what you cleared out before they came. People like snooping.

Weird! I'm listening to The Loop FM 97.9 WLUP out of Chicago and Black Sabbath's"Paranoid" just came on :roflmao:

 This song was the first thing that popped into my mind when I first read the OP :D

I have a similar problem though- I have some pics containing children from other fetish-related sites. The kids are clothed and not involved in anything sexual or wrong :) None of the adults in the pics could be busted for what they're doing either  but the adults are engaged in what could be called quite suggestive activities  It's all in how you look at things- some might say this is kiddie-related porn and some wouldn't.

I'm not worried about that as much as I am about what else might be on my hard drive. I bought my PC used for cash, don't have a reciept, and can't prove that whatever was on here when I bought it isn't mine :( And while I'm totally against kiddie porn and somewhat against hardcore porn there might be stuff on here that is bad enough to add up with my stuff into a problem  I tried deleting what was on here when I got this PC but some of it is password protected and I can't get to it so I have no idea what's there! Mine's a batch-licensed XP home OS so I can't reformat and reload the OS or I'd just save my stuff and do that. I can't go back to Dell because I'm not the registered original owner. For all I know this might even be a stolen PC but I'm pretty sure it isn't.

I'd rather just pay someone to sort this one out but I'm not willing to take the risk I spoke of above so I'll probably just get new OS software, reformat, and start again after saving my goodies on removable media ;) At least then I'll know what's on here so I won't have to be worried about it! And to everyone- I have no sympathy for you if you downloaded kiddie porn and get caught- it's illegal for a reason!

your seriously taking this too far...

A bit of diaper links/pics on your computer are probably nothing they will ever look at unless they are intentionally trying to dig through your personal files. In that case, it will be NOTHING compared to what they may have seen elsewhere and really, i HIGHLY doubt they would ever say anything about it anyways because alot of computer shops hold a stict privacy policy and he/she would get their azz fired on the spot.

I can see why you would be a bit paranoid, but just doa few basics like clearing the browsing history and 'hiding' any picture/videos/ect that you wouldnt like them to see.

If they really want to find something on your computer they CAN and WILL, any effort to stop it is really just useless and would only make the curious geek even more curious...

i dont have any pictures on my laptop although i would love to have a certain one as my wallpaper lol.

i have thought about this and i think the guy what looks at my laptop if he did find out about my fetish interests would not say anything to my face anyway i am just too paranoid. i just dont want to be classed as a nonce.

most people n society havent even heard of ab'dl its not like been gay etc so people will be quick to jump to the WRONG conclusions.

fucking hell man im so paranoid i darednt even puy any pics or anything on my own laptop what cost me a lot of money whch has passowords on it. ffs:(

Yes, go for it. Unless it's illegal, they won't care. The vast majority are professional and won't go routing about beyond what's necessary to fix the computer. In the event that they do find them, you might get some weird looks but assuming the IT geek isn't your cousin or something, who cares? You won't see them again and it'll give them something to giggle about.

The rule of thumb for IT Guys is the same as the rule of thumb for doctors and the likes: No matter how weird you think you are, they've seen weirder.:P
