Just accidentally formatted the wrong drive and erased 600 photo sets and videos...... thank God for redundant backups! :66_EmoticonsHDcom::34_EmoticonsHDcom:

I once accidently completely formatted my 2TB Harddrive with absolutely everything important on it. I had no backups, nothing. Thank god HDDs don't actually delete their data right away, they simply mark the zones as "free space" to be written over later. I was able to recover almost everything, with only 1 non-important folder having corrupted data.

This reminds me I need to do a backup project I've been putting off. My goal is to have 1 off-site backup, 1 backup at home and 1 (possibly 2) encrypted backups on servers that I control.

I actually heard that that's a real thing now. McDonald's is apparently giving ADULT happy meals!!!!????? What would make it even better is if McDonald's threw in an free diaper with every order.??♥️??? LOL!??????????

They have some temporary partnership going with some flea market, that's where the real adult happy meals are coming from right now. From my understanding atleast.

  3. I've only ever had internet bullies. This has caused me to grow the habit of having different usernames for everything, so if I get a bully, they can't follow me across the web. I do it for privacy reasons now too, but that's how it started.

    Truth.

That was my favorite Bob's Burgers Episode in a while. I wasn't a huge fan of the last couple of seasons, short of a few episodes here and there. That last one (Episode 2 of Season 13) felt like it was a good earlier season episode. In my humble opinion.

  5. I use a service which allows me to create disposable per-service cards. I set the cards to have a $1 limit, which makes them just deny any transaction over $1. I don't have any service that knows my actual card number.

If a card was to get stolen, I just disable it and make a new one. No actual personal information is lost.

  6. The PC I had before this one lasted from like 2008 - 2020 and would still be kicking to this day, if we hadn't made a mistake when trying to move it to a new case.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially if you take good care of your computer (dust it a few times a year, try not to let it overheat, etc...)

I think what RustyPins suggested is probably the best course of action, invest in an external hard drive or SSD that you can use for semiregular backups. This way, if something does go wrong, the most important thing is safe, your data.

  7. When I was younger, I used to go to church, my mom and dad went to different churches, I usually went with my dad, but sometimes went with my mom.

There were some cute girls around my age at my mom's church, who I had a crush on. They never really gave me the time of day.

Occasionally, one of the church members would bring in their baby or just have a baby and bring it in. For the entire day, these girls I had a crush on would spend all day doting on this baby. Whenever this happened, I'd get EXTREMELY jealous of that child, I genuinely didn't understand what was so special about that baby. I didn't get it, I was more interesting than it was. Why couldn't these girls pay attention to me instead? Why wasn't I the one they were doting on?

Being married now, I barely have this experience anymore, except on occasion, where I will see a mother being exceptionally kind/compassionate towards a child of theirs, but it's not nearly as frequent as it used to be. That might just be because I don't see many situations resembling the sort that I get jealous over.

But yeah, you're not the only one.

What a wonderful piece covering the ABDL lifestyle/proclivity.
Considering that I joined an adult chat site yesterday and today was immediately flagged for discussing ABDL topics. It is stated in their terms of service that ABDL was off limits... along with other topics. Nothing like being kink shamed on a kink site.

Gotta love that "tolerance and inclusion, until it's something we don't personally agree with/want to include" mentality.

  9. Just watched the video, so happy someone is actually covering AB/DL in a kind, realistic way.

Everyone is quick to say that AB/DL is somehow sexualizing children. I think these people just feel the need to try to justify why they feel uncomfortable by pointing at the thing that makes them uncomfortable by saying it's somehow doing something bad, or enabling people to do something bad.

I've noticed this with other things too.

I could honestly talk about this topic for hours on end, but I'm sure no one wants to hear me talk about the differences between fantasy and reality and how people are selective when it comes to things they enjoy and things that make them uncomfortable. So I will just leave it at that.

  11. The technology is clearly there, even on the bank's side. Look no further than platforms like Zelle which allow for instantaneous bank-to-bank transfers. When 2 individuals can send money to each others bank faster than a company can, it makes you sit there and think... “Can they physically not help it, or do they physically choose not to?"

@rusty pins You do not know how many fights I have gotten in at a Mcdonalds over those stupid kiosks.  I was in Knoxville Tenn not to long ago.  I was just finished doing uber eats and I went to a Mcdonalds for a milkshake.

For my hour trip home.  Well I was standing at the register waiting and waiting andI was watching the crew and a manager work.  Well I waited about 15 - 20 min and then I said may I have some help over here.  The manager then told me that I needed to use the kiosk I then told her no I will not use that machine.

I do not like them and there not easy to use.  It turned out into a fight with me and that manager and I was then told to leave.  I then as I was walking out I told her to F herself.  And walked out and as I did that someone in the Mcdonalds said OOH hell no and I said oh hell yea she can go F her self.

The next day I went back there and explained it to the store manager and she appologized to me and told me that she will be talking to that manager about the way she treated me.

I told her I can not use that machine and I did not want to the store manager said that I shouldn't have to if i didn't want to.

All these fast food restaurants can go and F themselves if they keep that crap up.

That's stupid, no store should REQUIRE you to use the machines. My wife and I use them because we can't see the menu's, and it's easier than having a lady explain what they have. But if we know what we need before going into the store, I will always decide to go to the register. I view the kiosk as more of an accessibility feature as opposed to a mandatory means of getting food.

I am in agreement with you @kasarberang One thing I hate the most are those kiosks in most fast food restaurants.  I also hate the self checkouts in most supermarkets these days.  Most people do not know how to use those machines nor why should they learn.  We do not get paid to ring in our own food or at the grocery store check out our own products.  Companies are getting to cheap to hire the right people for the job.  When I was just working in Mcdonalds these last few months I got in a fight with the new store manager over the self checkout.  I told him I can get people to spend more by me asking would you like to make that large.  He said that the kiosk will make more then I would I told him that is not true.  Plus I told him that a lot of people do not know how to use the he said we can help them use it.

I then told him that why bother when they could have just came to the register and I would have taken care of them.

Well I am not working there any longer.  I am done with idiot companies.

I will disagree about the fast food kiosk. My wife and I can't see the menus, and before they added the kiosks, we asked employees what they had, and they just told us to look at the menu, even after we said we couldn't see it. So yes, I do appreciate the fast food kiosks. Otherwise, I'm with you, self-checkouts, especially if you're buying produce is annoying.

  14. Try to be more careful when it comes to giving out personal information. I'm happy your mom managed to fix it for you, but you might not be so lucky next time. So make sure there isn't a next time. Much love friend, wishing you well!

And yet people are worried about China, Russia, Israel, etc having too much access to their personal information.  Well shit, that wasn't a problem until people started trying to digitize everything.  Quite a stupid problem to have.

P.S. Most resteraunts will still give you a paper menu if you ask for one.

Yep,  a stupid problem to have and a lot of it is voluntary, there are alternative services, people just don't want to use them. They can't even fathom the idea of having to pay for a service, meanwhile they complain about how their "free" services are misusing the data they willingly give over.

I've never been to a restaurant that did that yet, but I will keep that in mind. The individuals talking about it made it seem like it was something you had to deal with, like there was no possible way to get a paper menu.

They have been phasing out the street boxes because of bomb threats. You can request a package pick up from usps.com

Yet another USPS feature I can never get to work. I despise things moving to digital. Not everyone has a phone, not everyone has a computer. Apparently, restaurants are trying to lock their menus behind QR codes now, which is absolutely ridiculous. These systems are explicitly designed to turn away certain groups of people. I will fight tooth and nail against the removal of physical things in favor of objectively inferior counterparts. It seems I'm not the only one, either.

I did end up mailing the package, my apartment has an outgoing mailbox, but I wasn't sure if employees could access that. I don't want people to tamper with my mail, I don't even trust the post office. I asked today, and apparently they do not have a key, only USPS does. I also still have a street box by a grocery store, so that's nice.

  17. So, I needed to mail a package, spent all day printing up a shipping label. USPS wouldn't accept my cards for some reason. Stamps.com worked, autocorrected the address, removing the APT/SUITE number and just putting in the street address again. So I had to refund that....then stamps.com isn't accepting my cards either. Have to call customer support, they do eventually get it resolved, very kind people over there. Anyway, I look at the temperature, and it's like 97.6F outside. I sit there and think "well the mailbox isn't that far, I'm sure I'll be fine." I walk over to where we usually drop off the mail. I know the direction and the general whereabouts of the mailbox, but not it's exact location. So, I'm walking on the street that the mailbox is on, and I don't see it, so I walk further (usually my wife is with me, but today I went alone.) I ended up going far past where the mailbox is supposed to be, no mailbox anywhere. On the way back I look on the side of the street where the mailbox is supposed to be, nothing.

    The mailbox is gone.

a safer option might be a toaster oven, if its a pizza like digiornos it might have to be cut, but when i go to heat up anything(tv dinners, store brand personal pizza, chicken fingers and curly fries) i use one all the time, less power, cheaper to run, sooner to eat.

When my wife and I were living with my parents we had a $50 Walmart toaster oven, and it worked wonders for us!

Aye aye! It's not like I'm obsessively checking my story to see if anyone likes or comments on it already....

As a quick aside, thank you for doing this. I've wanted to write forever, but I just hadn't been able to convince myself to not only start, but finish something, and your contest was that push I needed to get over my hangups well enough to say I finished something. So, yeah, thankies!!

Happy I could help, that's exactly what these contests are intended to do, so I am happy that it's working, at least to some degree.

I intend on doing another one of these, probably in 2023 if I am able.
