  1. True, the depends diapers (Protection with Taps) weren't the same as the premuim diapers you can order on line, but at least you could run down to Walgreens
  2. Even if you don't make the 7 1/2% or 10% threshold for deductability on your Federal Income Tax for medical, many states let you deduct the full amount.
  3. Leg bags are not made for sleeping because you are lying flat, and the leg bag is level, not below, so you can't drain properly.
  4. Ditto what beallucanb said. It would be very unusual for anyone to notice that you were diapred unless you took consious steps to make your diaper obvious. I had to go out in public in Depends for Men for medical reasons, and was at first sure that eveyone could tell, and now some months later, I am sure that no one even notices.............
  5. Thanks for the thoughts folks. I used to like Depends, which I could find locally at retail, for a lightweight daytime diaper, but unfortunately no one carries them anymore. Are the Molicare Super the ones with the "Breathable" sides? I'm guessing that means plastic front & back, with cloth like sides. The clothlike CVS diapers are nice in that the top tapes can be opened up and then refastened multiple times and they are quiet under clothes. Doe anyone have any experience with the baisic Tena diaper, (not the Ultra or Super)?
  6. I'm looking for suggestions for a good lightweight daytime diaper that I can use under regular clothing without fear of a padded butt giving me away. I regularly use Abena M2's,and they usually are OK for overnight if I watch my fluid intake in the evening. But I think the M2's might be a bit bulky for daily use outside the home. I'm probably going to switch to M3's for overnight anyway, so am OK with stocking two different diapers. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
  7. Wow, I am a relatively low level Regional Sales Manager, responsible for about 8 manufacturers reps in a 6 state area, and I haven't had to share a room for at least the last 15 years, and then only because we were staying at a private golf condo with four master bedrooms with two queen beds each. I would go with the suggestion of OXNL above and have a quiet word with someone from HR, and use his words exactly..... "you have a medical condition that would make it preferable for you NOT to share a cabin". Dale
  8. Definitely plastic backed are my favorites. Especially for sleeping at night (Abena M4) as I toss and turn a lot and the outer cover on the cloth backed get "Frayed", and start to come apart, where the plastic backed tends to slide over the sheets. During the day, cloth backed have some pluses in that the upper tapes can be undone, and the diaper slid down to allow use of the toilet for #2 if necessary, and then done back up. And of course quieter. I do miss the 6 tape depends as a locally available day diaper though.
  9. Having spent 21 days with a foley post RC surgery, my advise is to get a better chair. Come on, spring for a decent recliner at home, and a good desk chair at work, and you will do just fine.
  10. Thanks wethills. I've already found XP & Gary, and have ordered from him. Quick shipping, good pricing, and fair shipping charges.
  11. Good point on starting in a pullup and changing to a diaper Betty.
  12. Seriously though, has anyone been through a TSA back scatter machine (or whatever the latest ones are), wearing any kind of absorbant undergarment? I fly quit a bit for work, and really do wonder. They seem to see things when I leave something in a pocket. I always stop at the restroom closest to security and remove my Tena Guard, and then put another one in my underwear once I get through security. Although I do think I went through once with a Tena Guard in, but can't be sure.
  13. Became a bed wetter due to cancer surgery and a bladder repair that very typically leaks during sleep. Some nights dry, most nights wet, some nights heavy wet and leak. Most of the time I rely on Depends for Men and a waterproof pad under the sheet, but when traveling I always wear a diaper to make sure there are no leaks.
  14. This is an excellent point that I have been struggling with. I would like to use a pullup when out and about, but changing in a public restroom is difficult. And while a diaper may be too much (for me at least), it is easier to change, it does eliminate the option of pulling the pullup down to use the toilet when the opportunity presents itself. I am going to try out the Tena and Abena "Wing" products which might have the best attributes of both pullups and diapers.
  15. Thanks Bettypooh. Yes, found it early, and surgically removed. I'm now 18 months cancer free, but with a new plumbing system that leaks.
  16. Cancer for me. I usually wear Tena guards during the day, and sometimes depends for men during stressful times. For sleeping, it is Depends for men, even though they sometimes leak due to heavy output. But i have a crib size waterproof mattress pad on my side of the bed. I use diapers at night when traveling for work, or visiting relatives, etc., to insure I don't have a wet bed.
  17. The worst part of a cysto is thinking about it the night before and in the urologist's waiting room. They will put some numbing jell in your urethra before they insert the cystoscope, and it's really not that bad.
  18. My urologist has told me that with prostate problems (and prostatectomy), it is very common to leak during the day. While with bladder problems, it is common to leak at night.
