Who knows you still wet the bed?

So you still wet the bed! Is it a secret? Or does everyone know. Growing up it was never any secret I wet the bed. My sister used to delight in telling everyone.

As I got older and my bedwetting came back. I decided I would just accept it own it and if people found out so be it.

Most of my close friends and family know I am a bedwetter and don't see it as a problem.

As a kid, my brother and sister knew I was an accomplished and prolific bedwetter, as did my parents, and some of my aunts and uncles whose places we stayed at over the years.

Currently, my immediate family knows, as does one buddy that I told, because I was staying at his place for a week, and garbage is complicated where he lives, and I had to dispose of disposables. I have another buddy that I'm pretty sure knows I wear diapers during the day... I'm not sure if he connected the dots between that, and what happens overnight, or if he cares, really; I've shared hotel rooms with him while travelling and I've found myself in oddly contorted positions in his presence while doing plumbing or construction projects or moving heavy objects at each other's houses over the years, where I have strongly suspected my diaper might have made an appearance, and his approach to me has not varied by one degree.

I've never 'fessed up to my doctor about "this", because he's been my doctor since I was a kid - I'm waiting until he retires and then I'll tell my new doctor that "this" has been a thing for years and I'm fine with it, next question, please. Or that's my current theory of what's going to happen when the time comes. I may just as likely chicken out - I'm not asking the government to pay for my diapers, so I really do not need medical "permission" to wear plastic underpants. However, I did once unexpectedly get asked to drop my trousers by a specialist. I'd worn a pull-up, rather than a full-on diaper, and thankfully, not a fanciful one - it was pretty industrial. But, I'd driven downtown to see this highly educated guy because another of my doctors wanted me to, I was there, I'd paid $25 for parking... I wasn't going to make another appointment for 6 months from then, and return wearing boxer shorts that I'd have had to go buy, because I haven't owned any for years. So, despite my misgivings, my pants and pull-up went down. He didn't even blink. As far as I know, the details of my wardrobe did not make it into my record, but who knows.

My doctor and any of his staff who see my medical records know that I am a bedwetter.

Yes it clearly states incontinent and enuretic on my medical records. My doctor never mentions it but the nurses always ask if I am managing my incontinence properly

It’s a secret.  Normal healthy adults don’t (or at least shouldn’t) wet the bed.

Amongst those I currently interact with only my wife knows.

Interestingly my primary care doctor’s annual paperwork has a list of medical conditions including “bedwetting? Yes/no”.  Don’t want treatment.  Don’t want discussion.  But for any future hospital stay I’d like it on my medical record.  It’s a dilemma.

For what it's worth, my experience with this is, they don't consult records regarding if someone does or does not need protective underclothes, they make that determination based on the circumstances of the moment, and, they tend to take the patient's word for it, as well. And, unless your condition calls for catheterization, they tend to prefer people wearing protection. The last thing they want to have to do is change out soaked sheets unnecessarily. If you say you'd feel better in a diaper, they will accommodate, particularly if you say that you will manage it. Both of my parents had "briefs" put on them when they were hospitalized, even though neither had any history of incontinence. The reasoning is, they don't want people who are unsteady on their feet rushing to make it to the washroom, as that is a recipe for falls, and with IV poles and wires strung all over the place, plus the inevitable delay from when someone pushes the call button to when a nurse shows up... they are more than happy to change a diaper when they have some spare time, compared with dropping what they are doing and sprinting over to help someone desperate to get to the toilet at 3 AM.

You don't need to have incontinence in your records to request a diaper. They will thank you for being upfront with them. Just be prepared to spend some time in truly low-end products. I have never been impressed with any institutional diaper I've seen.

Still a well kept family secret.  My current girl friend and a few before her know.  A few friends from college .  Aunts, Uncles and cousins-not really a secret within the family.
