Their = heir to the throne (possession), it is their diaper. they're, was covered in contractions, if using one word instead of two, an apostrophe replaces the missing letters. i wasn't overly fond of English, but simplifications like this made it more enjoyable. The best part about English, and I'm sure other languages, is the flexibility. You could use all three interchangeably, and in most cases the context of the sentence will tell us which one you meant.
