Changing in a vehicle

Recommended Posts

It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep so I thought I'd relate a new experience I had in August. My fiancee and I took a cross country trip in our truck for the month of August. We drove just over 1500 miles one way but we broke up the drive in 3 legs of about 8 hours each day and getting a motel each night. We ate breakfast at the motel each morning but we carried water and snacks in the truck so no food stops just gas. I've found that my Confidry 24/7's leak at the leg cuffs when I'm finding in a vehicle through experience too many times to count. One issue that contributes to my leaking is that when the diaper is just somewhat wet it feels dry and as it gets wetter it will feel wet but that is not uncomfortable to me, it feels natural. The issue is totally soaked and about to leak physically feels no different to me than just wet so it's easy to wait too long and then the leak. On our trip I decided that I had to make it a habit to monitor the state of wetness which is easily done by feeling the crotch of my diaper and testing the squishiness of it.

We were driving through Ohio I think and my fiancee was driving while I was just watching the scenery. We had plenty of gas but a self diaper check revealed my diaper was nearing the danger zone. I didn't want to stop but I didn't want to leak either so I was thinking about whether it would be worth the risk of waiting for a gas stop and decided there was no way I'd make it without leaking. The interstate we were on was under construction in several places and they had jersey barriers to route oncoming traffic to one side or the other so the roadway was only a single lane in each direction. Since I didn't have to worry about semis driving alongside us in the same direction I decided to change right there in the seat in the fly.

I told my fiancee my intentions and her first reaction was disbelief and then she laughed. I keep my diaper bag on the rear floor right behind the passenger seat so I reach back and pulled it out. I retrieved a diaper and wipes out and put the bag in the back seat. I unbuckled my belt and pulled my jeans down right to my ankles and then put the seat into a reclining position. I opened the fresh diaper up, lifted my butt off the seat and slid the new diaper under me while still wearing the soaked one. I opened the wipes and pulled one out leaving the package on the center console. Now I was ready. I pulled off the tapes and pulled the front down while lifting my butt up again. A quick wipe of the area was enough and then I slid the used diaper toward the dash and let it drop into my jeans on the floor. I adjusted the fresh diaper, sat back down, pulled up the front and fastened the tapes securely. Then I rolled up the used diaper and set it on the floor while I lifted back off the seat and pulled my jeans back up. Then I bagged the used diaper up and put it in my diaper bag for disposal. My fiancee was impressed yet in disbelief that I actually did it lol. It was a Kodak moment for sure.

Hugs,

Freta

I've removed a wet diaper while in the driver's seat and parked.  I'm sure I also taped on a fresh diaper a few times while seated parked in the driver's seat.  Not the easiest thing to do for sure when having to pull your jeans up and down with a steering wheel in the way.  The very few times I have put on a fresh diaper in the car I've stepped out to pull my jeans up and tuck in my shirt, naturally in an area where I can't be seen by anyone.

I'd say changing your diaper in a moving car can be very dangerous!  Not so much due to the diaper change you are doing but more from the standpoint your fiancee won't be able to keep her eyes on the road and you could end up having an accident!

I just recently changed in my car. My wife and I were in the parking garage of a big hospital. My Dry 24/7 was soaked to the max, and I didn't want to change inside. I actually changed in the back seat (I thought there'd be more privacy back there) but I regretted that because my back seats don't recline like the front seats do. I still managed to change AND get a decent fit with my new diaper. Had to also change plastic pants, but no biggy. Pull those up, fold over the top of my diaper and plastic pants (for a snug fit) and off I wet. Not bad if I do say so myself. I usually don't change in a car unless necessary as it's fairly uncomfortable to do so.
