The way to get rid of it is vote these idiots out of office, and NEVER let them back in!!! 1 Link to comment
Little BabyDoll Christine
I do not know about that. This is a school which just happens to be run by the town or city. If it were a private school or workplace, would it have the right to enforce a dress code? Now, we are talking about "being on the clock" i.e. not on your own time. Since this is video then you are being viewed. As such, you should look "ready for business". That is true in any context whether is is run by the government or not. Obtrusivegovernment reans when it is acting outside its purview. If you accept the idea of public schools, then you must allow for them to have the same rights ans any school, which inlcudes deciding what "ready for business" looks like. If you do not accept the idea of public schools, then your arguemtn is much more fundamental. Conservatives have been calling for school uniforms, even in public schools for 3-1/2 decades. I prefer dress codes as it allows choice within reasonable parameters just as in the workplace. And believe me, I am a greater opponent of "Big Givernment" than you are.Besides which, we are dealing with minors, in which case "in loco parentis" applies Link to comment
ylowrvr
As Mark Twain once said. "First God created the idiot, just for practice. Then he created the school board." As Mark Twain once said. "First God created the idiot, just for practice. Then he created the school board." Link to comment
AbabeBill
How stupid is this crap! So if I want to be totally naked, and show up from “Home” for virtual school, that should be ok too? My mummy & daddy said, I can do whatever I want!!! ? And you can, you’re free to do what pleases you. But, you can’t affect others freedoms, and the realm of normal accepted behaviors. There seems to be this belief by some people that, you’re in there world, they can do whatever they want, and you need to get out! As if it where their personal dream, and you’re just a player in it. “THE ME/MY WORLD” people???? Link to comment
Crinklz Kat
I have to agree with the dress code. As said, it's not really any different than adults in the business world. I have to be on video every day for my job - it's only with the team I work with, but it's still expected that I'm dressed more or less appropriately. Granted, early on I was wearing t-shirts and sweat pants (they can't see the lower half anyway). Besides... who wants to have to look at others that appear they literally just rolled out of bed? "Bed head" and all! And the mention of being naked.... conjures up this commercial! Link to comment
Little BabyDoll Christine
Then too, This was not an issue when I was of that age. Even at home, during weekends or vacations, I was expectedto look presentable by 10:00 at the latest; and that was if I was not headed outdoors, usually earlier, which was usually the case. Slovenliness started with my generation (born in late '45, I am more like a Boomer than the generation to which I nominally belong) in the name of letting the child "express himself" pseudo-individnualism (while supporting massive collectivism in politics and economics) in the late 1960's, when the hippies were saying "do your own thing' while being notorious for their communesand supporting Communist dictatorships and socialist and economics, throughout the 1970's. and it got worse from there, with kids running around showing half the cracks of their asses. Please notice that dressed LG, you do not see anything that would be recognizable. I will be going out to the store within an hour, when I get beck, I will dress in something more "apprpriate", which, by some amazing stroke of fortune, will be FAR more comfy in this heat and humidity, as well as not scare Andrea and Lisa Link to comment
