Looking at the posts that were hidden it was just a couple of posts arguing with another member. There was no real censoring, you called someone an idiot and ignorant and had the posts hidden just like his responses to you were hidden.

Looks like there was a concern that the thread was being derailed so the posts related to the argument were hidden to let the thread go on it's merry way. You said yourself conflict can spur discussion as long as it is polite but the hidden posts weren't polite so they weren't going to stimulate much positive discussion and since it started to become an argument a mod stepped in to keep the thread on track.

I wouldn't know about the pictures. Pictures usually get removed for if it shows a minor in any way or genitals.

Accounts generally can't be deleted for a few reasons. Purging is one of them, for people purging it is best to just log out and go away and everything will be right where you left it when you return. Other than purging though, we don't want people who get warnings or bans to delete accounts and just come back... Of course it is possible to do that anyway but having the previous account can sometimes identify when they do that. We always advise to just delete any information on a profile and log out so that if/when it is wanted again, it is still there and ready to be used.

One Suggestion whether it's editing, hiding, or censoring, posts or photos, it helps to indicate precisely why at the time.
