  1. The correct answer is: Yes! No. Maybe? Like many things in life there is no easy answer. I can insert a normal sized catheter in myself with no issue. When I was in the hospital many years ago I'd say half the nurses caused a bit of pain during catheterization and some did not. Not surprisingly the few male nurses were the best, they always went slower and more carefully. At the end of the day it's like going for a long run, or working out your quads at the gym. Does it hurt? Only for a few seconds, and it's worth it. Just play safe and if it hurts too much or there is too much resistance then don't push it. Where are you buying your catheters from?!? 5 x 30 = 150. I can buy 100 single use cath's for $80 (and that's in Canada, real money it would be like $50). Even if you went through two hundred a month that's still less than 10% of what you are paying. Are you buying solid silver catheters or something?
  2. You have to use quite a bit of force to get the bent plastic tubes in place. My fingers are always sore after doing the two per stent. I have tried pulling the plastic out with the attached retrieval string with no luck. It would likely just break first.

The reason I do not visit other incontinence support boards is because every time I mention using diapers to manage my incontinence, I am swarmed by people harrumphing that I should never use a diaper and they begin to sing the phrases of catheters, Your assertion that I have not been adequately counseled is also absurd as is your assumption that no actual incontinent people are wearing diapers. I have been presented with every possible solution but if you had my history, you would share my reluctance in getting anything else artificial placed into my body. "I've

  9. As someone with no control (via stent) I have been 24/7 for the last five weeks.

Is there no way you can buy a stent from someone if you give them the correct lengths and everything? Or would that break any rules? I'm not really good with crafting, i'm more of a theoretical person if that makes any sense. So creating a stent myself seems like a big obstacle. One thing that makes me freak out about this idea is the possibility of the stent migrating into the bladder. It feels like most people who play around with stents are at risk to
