American Independance Day

hey there everyone- happy 4th of july

as we started celebrating our independance

this weekend, i got to thinking (uh oh)..

this holiday is based on american settlers

breaking the law and refusing to put up

with (the kings') laws. and to me if we are

celebrating our forefathers disregard for

the law, then why do we even somewhat

pay attention to laws governing what fireworks

we can use or where and when we celebrate???

i just thought i would toss that out there to ponder

and discuss.

P.S. i have respect for "the law" but i'll be damned

if i'm not going to fire up some fireworks that could

blow up a small country or ones that are so big they

could knock tv satelites out of orbit!!

yea...ill have to agree...i was at a friends house a month or so ago, and his next door neighbor brought out a bunch of firteworks to blast off for some reason or another...well...they live on a lake and he made a raft and put all the fireworks on it at the raft got out about 20 feet into the lake when the fuse he lit went off and all of the fireworks went off at once(wasnt supposed to happen like that!!)...he got the raft back on shore, and the fireworks had blown a big hole about 5 ft. in diameter in the raft!!!!!

Well, brian: If you're gonna explode some TNT tonnage, and if you make a mistake, I hope you don't live to tell. You won't be a pretty sight if you survive. Just don't take anyone else with you. Aside from that...Happy 4th!

the trick is to have a long fuse. I've rigged up an electric igniter from an electric fireplace lighter, with about 10 feet of wire separating me from the larger fireworks.

for the smaller ones, I generally get ones that don't need to be right-side up, and I zippo 'em then chuck 'em a few feet away from me.

I deffinatley agree with the "illegal" fireworks being legal. Every year my brother will go to Wyoming to the "illegal" firework store and pick up some M-80s, bottle rockets, artillery shells, killer bees, ect. We love to blow stuff up!, it must be a guy thing (maybe a girl thing too, I don't know). A few years ago we a "blast" blowing up everything from plastic mustard jars, heads of lettuce, blowing a metal pan sky high, and other stuff that looked cool blown to bits! This year he and I have been brain storming on what else to blow apart. I have a saying "It's not illegal if there no athority figure around to see it", but that only applys to certain things.

well we had our church 4th of july picnic

last night, and everyone (except for a

few children) had "illegal" fireworks.

altgether we had about a pickup truck

full. everything was there from m-5000s'

and bottle rockets to artillery shells and roman

candles. nobody was blown up or hurt last night,

thank God.

Why is it we celebrate the 4 of July with fireworks at all? it's kinda like easter at this point isn't it pretending that a bunny laid thouse eggs and then Hideing the elabrate colored eggs to celebrate that jesus came back from the dead.

i belive fireworks are used to similate the

"bombs bursting in air" and such. they are

also used just because they're cool.
