My worry would be the dye. Usually black dyed rubbers and plastics tend to be weaker than undyed or lighter colors. I think you have to use a lot more dye to get something be black rather than say… yellow. Just guessing there. I don't have a load of knowledge on the subject and it's probably somewhat dependent on what exactly the material it is. I'm fairly certain that foam latex suffers a lot from that.
