For Our Convenience

What if society were to accept that adults wear diapers for both medical and recreational use? How do you think society would adjust to help mitigate our inconveniences? Would they have, say, diaper vending machines in restrooms? Or have diaper changing rooms in certain businesses?

Have fun!

Fantasy dreams are fun, but reality is reality. Diapers are acceptable for incon need, but the "recreational" aspect is up to YOU. Do it if you want, but be discreet and use some decorum. Recreational diaper use will never be embraced or accepted by "mainstream" society. The view will remain what it is. The more that can accept that can help form and formulate a better "community" that is already in place, to a degree. You simply are not going to see adults padding around out in public wearing just diapers and a t-shirt and have it accepted. It might be a pipe-dream for many, but it's just not gonna happen... Reality bites some days...

From what I understand with Japan's better acceptance of adults in diapers who could do without them, there are some vending machines for adult diapers over there :) but as to the AB side of this such as changing tables etal, forget it- it won't happen here or there. Nor will the level of adult diaper use and acceptance now seen in Japan happen here either :( There are many basic differences in our societies which have taken centuries to evolve into what they are now, so deep changes like this one would take just as long to come about. At that rate, something tells me that I won't be around to see them even if they do happen!

Well in Japan the diapers are commonly used by workers and in the escort industry they seem to cater to fetishists to a higher degree then I assume here

They are also accepted as a valid alternative to having to use possibly unsanitary public restrooms. It seems that they may place a larger value on such matters than we do, especially considering the condition of some of the public toilets found around here! :whistling:

In a fantasy world... considering the posts above... I would say that there would be a machine that you would lay in and it would change your diaper to your specifications, wet v. soiled, if you want disposible or cloth, and the entire thing would be automated. That would be a pretty cool machine/system.

I think that first of all there would have to be some sort of solution with diaper type, if diapers went mainstream there would probably be a garbage overload if everyone used disposables. Would everyone switch to cloth?

I don't need a changing table for adults in public restrooms and I don't care if someone wears Diapers/pull-ups for recreational or need. However I long for the day when, the world accepts that there are people who weigh over 45 lbs who actually wear diapers or pull-ups (for what ever reason). And, when they do i hope they understand; for us( the people who are over 45lbs) who wear diapers/pull-ups there are times when we need to change our diapers outside our homes home and sometimes we either, run out or forget our diapers. So, my dream is the day when regularly see travel/sample size packs of diapers/pull-ups for people larger than 45 lbs being sold at; Travel centers, Convience stores, Sundry Shops, etc. for those who need them.and either run out and for need 1 or 2 diapers to finish whatever doing (Traveling, or whatever) rather than making us find a grocery store or pharmacy and buying a 16+Pk that we don't need.

I think adult diapers are more accepted in asian countries because the elderly generally stay with and are cared for by their families.

Maybe if the west did the same, (instead of sending the elderly to retirement homes) we'd have the same level of acceptance here. There would also be better consumer access to diapers, rather than wholesalers catering to large businesses.

Getting back to the point of the thread "What if society were to accept that adults wear diapers for both medical and recreational use? How do you think society would adjust to help mitigate our inconveniences?"

I think the medial side of the question would be obvious - better access to diapers & adult changing tables in disabled toilets.

The recreational side would be interesting! More 'adult services' would cater to diaper / ab/dl services. I can just imagine casually walking into a brothel on my lunch break & asking for a "diaper service #3 please"

That'd be interesting. I have seen some diaper vending-machines at Disneyland in their bathrooms. Just baby diapers though. Changing table was built from the floor up instead of wall-mounted which was nice. Just not quite big enough to fit the likes of me.

If the "rest of the world" wanted to help, they'd just ignore it really ... or (to the Japan point) accept it. The problem is that most of the world everything fits into binary categories, which is dangerous thinking. For the incontinence, it's not just "an old person's" problem, just like not all disabilities are visible to everyone. Basically, stop pigeonholing everything and we could all live together more peacefully.

Japan however does it right ... but exactly why they do I don't know. Either they no longer believe in taboos (which is awesome and very possible) or they just don't see things as "dirty" or "clean" like everyone else does, and I'm not talking sanitation here. They treat it like it just is.

The biggest problems with the incontinence in the US is public restrooms are being refit to discourage drug use or to increase sanitation, which neither works anyway. These changes make life harder for the disabled, not just the incontinent but I know only of that aspect from personal experience, the others I just hear complaints. Like the open toilet seats, which are suppose to be more hygienic. They really are not and make changing in the public restroom virtually impossible without sitting on the floor when needed. Another change is the colored lighting, this is to discourage drug use but ... most junkies who this could effect really don't care anyway, they just "follow the tracks." The colored lighting just makes the restroom less useful to everyone and downright dangerous to the disabled as a whole.

So yeah, the best thing they could do for the incontinent, and even the fetish people, is to just live and let live more. The whole morality arguments .... stupid. Just no, don't ever bother, as soon as someone says "it's a sin ..." just turn around and leave because they are not interested in listening to reason.

Even if wearing for pleasure won't become "mainstream", if the fact that a lot of adults wore nappies because they need to and others would choose to wear them on occasions due to a combination of a slightly weak bladder and/or difficulty in getting to a toilet in certain situations was accepted, it would be good. Then they could become more visible with perhaps vending machines in toilets etc!
