Thx guys and gals, I just havent felt very good these last few weeks. I don't really know why , but I hardly have a reason to get out of bed in the morning. And I look at my life and see that I havent done anything with it. is it me , or does this sound like a mid-life crisis? ....Keep in mind im only 19

So i guess its a quarter life crisis then?

And to Timmy , I really wish I could cry sometimes, But like I said , i cannot summon the tears

Give it another 10 years. Then, if you're going nowhere you can start getting depressed. Your real age is listed as 19. You're too young for your life to have really gone anywhere just yet.

Life is what we make of it. Some of the people who love life the most have very little and their lives are going precisely nowhere, with little or no hope of ever changing that. If you let yourself worry too much about things like that, it'll drag you down.

Some people also find help in religion. Corney as it may sound, the philosopy of "what's 75 or so years of suffering compared to eternity in Heaven?" does help some folks deal with a hard life.

You just need to find some positive stuff to focus on. At least you've got friends here, right?

Give it time. You may be suffering from depression if you can't identify a source. If you are and don't want to go through the whole therapy/meds stuff try taking Chromax(chromium picolinate) - studies show it has turned around some depressions (like mine). I used to not get out of bed and now I just have to. Even though the doc just started me on zoloft as well and I have to say it has been a long time since I have felt this good.

Take it easy friend. Things are a lot tougher when you are older and have not set on your desired path.

Might I suggest a couple of good books? I have had this in my library for about 20 years and just found LIFE 101 by Peter McWilliams online!!:

http://www.mcwilliams.com/books/life1/lf1toc.htm

Also The Road Less Travelled by M Scott Peck is a super great book loaded with resources.

Always look at the bright side of life.. doo doo doo doo doo doo... always look at the bright side of life doo doo doo doo doo doo...

When life life seems jolly rotten, there's something you've forgotten and that's to laugh and dance and sing yes it's true.

Okay I can't remember the rest of the lyrics. :D

I do like to think I have friends on here. Everyones on here is so friendly its nice. Its alot easier to open up on here where noone can see your face. I think alot of my depression has to do with family ( thats probbaly everyone) Everyone in the family just seems to live together. I can rememebr tiems where I havent talked to anyone in my family for several days.

I know I really dont have Sh1T to be depressed about. I mean I dont need to work , The only think i have to do is occasionally clean the house. But It just feels so useless to me. Like theres something that i need to do that never being done.

Some days are just a blur to me. I dont even feel like im doing these things, like my bodies on auto pilot. My therapist calls it a disassociative disorder. I can even feel like this in school sometimes. Its not like we really need to think in school anyways. You;ve might have heard my rants about the American school system in one of these pages somewhere. But, I degress, sometimes for me , the world seems to melt into a grey haze of nothingness.

This world is slowly dying for me. As oureconomy gets worse, The only thing I see getting biggeris the Obama government. Give it 20 or 30 years and we'll be socialists. It pains me to think of what our forefathers though this country could be , what it could acomplish. I see it as a dying cultural wasteland full of fat slobering consumers.

Sometimes the only thing I can feel is pain. Whic of course hasled down the path of self-destruction. Wither it be from cutting or just plain sloth. I've always had knee problems . nothing too serious but it constantly brings a small amount of pain. Not to mention the fluid in my knees drains down into my leg and that constantally swelling and that hurts even more.

Well , I think that enough for now.

just wanted to say first off, hope things are getting better for you with these kind words..

second off, although you dont HAVE to work, working will give you a reason to get up in the morning. It can give you a sense of accomplishment, and responsibility, it will get you OUT of the house and interacting with new people each day. It can increase your social circle, your self esteem, and open up many new doors for you.

So although you dont have to work, even 16-20 hours a week could perhaps give you something new and interesting to do.

and since you dont have to work, if you hate your job, you can just quit!

I do want to work , but the economy in Michigan SUCKS. So getting your first job without any good references its pratically impossbile , even at McDonalds or BK.

I was actually gonna guess that the working thing was getting you down. Sad to say, but, if you're 19 and don't hafta work, don't. There are those of us ahead of you who have bills to pay, and, in many cases, children to provide for. With the so few jobs left ANYWHERE, I think I speak for many people when I say that you should hangout, and be a kid for as long as possible. Cuz it's never gonna happen again! Let us do the working for now. Trust me, you'll get your chance. (In addition to being a four-letter word, WORK is also a drug; once you start, you can't stop.)

As far as the country and it's administration -- well, I can't say I don't share some of your Doomsday perspective. But, in the end, somebody somewhere still has a conscience, and will see to it that we don't completely fail.

get out and do some exercise. 30 minutes a day is proven to reduce stress and increase happiness. It releases endorphins and makes you feel good.

Screw working!! What you need is something to get your mind off the stupid everyday shit of life. Now if you work what will happen is everyone at that job will bitch about the economy even more and make you feel worse. No I say find an alternative to working. Find a hobby where you can escape to. Do you like acting? Go find a local theater group and do a play. Lots of fun!! Or get into an MMO online if you like gaming. I think you need socializing outside your house but with people you enjoy, not dumbfucks your forced to deal with because of work. The world is open to you and there are many free things to do. How about do you play an instrument? Or learn one!!! Find people off craigslist to just jam with, not form something serious. 19 is a glorious age! Your an adult but still young enough to learn anything at a rapid rate. Have fun!!!!!

Its not like im a guy on a corner yelling "the end is nigh!". Its just more that im worried about the possibility of this happening. If youve seen movies like "idiotcracy" you might see what im getting at. Most of you are out of school and are working. But being in school has taught me something. You dont need to think anymore. Were told how to do something , and then do it for an hour to two afterwayds. Were never just given a problem and we have to find our own solutions for it. And it agrivates me sometimes. I see the potental , some of the kids in our school are really bright and have potental, but they would rather spending their time smoking dope and getting pregnant.

I just find it hard sometimes to see these people "grow up" and what their really going to become

Ace...

I completely agree with what you are saying about the schools... it is really scary, the kids are thought to accept authority and that the government has all the answers and not to question them (which is the EXACT opposite of the founding fathers ideas), but I too digress and do not mean to start a flame war or make you feel worse.

I was about your age when I had my first bout of what I call 'diaper guilt' that made me feel similar, I knew that diapers were a part of who I was [and some AB items) but I felt bad and depressed because of it. I remember what that was like and if you ever need someone to talk to then you have friends here. Either in the forums [as you know] or in PMs.

Hang in there ace, it *WILL* work out.

ok then how about volunteering? doing something to help out fellow man? it seems like you are in a position where you have all your needs met, how about sharing how that feels with those less fortunate? pretty much any public agency is in need of volunteers, from schools and day care centers, to libraries, to political offices, to well like i say any social service.

basically what i'm saying is, get out of your house, get out of your head.. and do something!!!

Acemanner,

There must be a blue moon or something out there, cause I completely agree with Sarah_AB (sorry Sarah, had to do it :P ) You really need to focus your mind on something or someone - or both if you can. Get a hobby, an outside interest - do something completely silly and stupid for no other reason other than you can. Go watch the Monty Python series, and see if that gives you inspiration. Live every day as your last - 'cause one day you will be right, and beat us all at the same game.

Despite the arguments / disagreements / rants / flame wars etc - we all here like each other....

Thank yourself that you are not Irish - we Irish are not racist - we are not that discriminatory - we hate everybody equally

People also have people arrested for disturbing the peace or being public nuisances...

I'd suggest asking around to family and neighbors. Maybe you know an old lady who could use help with her groceries or lawn? Sure, it may not be a regular job, and may not even pay. But it will help you find purpose. Even in a crappy economy, someone needs help doing something...

As far as the country and it's administration -- well, I can't say I don't share some of your Doomsday perspective. But, in the end, somebody somewhere still has a conscience, and will see to it that we don't completely fail.

Personally, I think that we need to fail, so that we can re-forge the country into something better. There comes a time when one needs to stop futilely trying to spruce up a house that's going to fall apart and take a bulldozer to it, so they can build a new, better house. Our current setup is set up to effectively screw its own backbone... That's not something worth salvaging. We need a new setup that's designed to work, not just screw people...

I say we riot like Iran. Or China. Or North Korea. Or hell, even France. All the cool countries are doing it  Let's nuke our own country, resurect our Founding Father's,zap 'em back to half dead zombies with nipple electrodes and ask "OH HEAVENLY FATHER! PLEASE COME BACK AND START OVER!".

You mention all the places that have rioted, and you forget the top two- Seattle and LA. The WTO riots kicked ass, and the LA riot was frickin' legendary! Civil disobedience is actually a very difficult art form, but it is always effective.
