a .22 vs snake? man, you should up the fire power.

the taurus judge, fires 410 shotgun shells as well as .45 Colt bullets. because the barrel is rifled the BBs spread quick making it perfect for taking out snakes you happen to come across.

I can't shoot handguns worth shit...

Given a stationary target, I can can empty most any rifle's clip through one hole (it may widen a bit, but it'll be one hole). I did a fair job with the snake, given that I could hardly see it from where I was standing. If I want more firepower, I'll borrow the mini-14 or a real shotgun.

Why bother with more firepower, when marksmanship can also get the job done. And I didn't even empty the 10-shot clip. Imagine what I could do with the 50-shot clip... I'll take severial well-placed bullets over praying that I hit something any day.

On a darker note: My grandma's uncle (Uncle Frank to the whole family and most people in this and the surrounding counties) died today (tuesday). So, I'm about to embark on the whole "death in the family" thing again... If I don't show up for a few days, it's probly just cause I'm not getting enough sleep and being over-stressed by distraught family members.

Yuhuce, yeah yeah, for a "long" shot a 10/22 is good for picking off them darn snakes and plinking. but the judge is good for when you are walking about and you happen to come upon a snake or vile beast. because it holds 410 shotgun shells and spreads widely, it is perfect for unexpectedly walking up on such a beast.

I don't go walking around in places where snakes and vile beasts congrigate, unless I'm walking the dogs, who are very adverse to guns. They'd end up halving me if I was walking them and pulled a gun, given the way I usually have ahold of their leashes. Though I did mow down a black snake with the lawnmower last summer. It actually slithered under the mower deck. Not a very bright move.

Also, I prefer not to get within shotgun range of unidentified snakes (or identified dangerous snakes). Let alone within shotgun pistol range. I don't trust my horrible handgun aim with something like a snake, until they come out with homing bullets. Or a handheld punt gun version of that pistol. 410 shells aren't big enough for that job... The 410 is the whimp of the shotgun world. Now, maybe if it was a 10 gauge...

If I'd known it was just a black snake before I shot it, I would've just relocated it to the ditch or the neighbor's yard. I've got no beef with snakes that can't hurt me. I like snakes that can't hurt me, as they tend to eat things like the eggs of the birds that don't know when to shut up and let me sleep in on my days off and build their nests high in the ceder trees, where I can't see to shoot them. But I'm not goinna get close enough to ID them with my bad eyesight and in-need-of-new-lenses glasses to check before shooting a snake.

Many years ago the warden at a college was particularly awkward.

One student said "That guy's a CUNT!"

The Warden was known as "The Tube" ever after.

In fact, the BNP are useful: they frighten the hell out of that present bunch of idle, incompetent, corrupt, arrogant con-artists who have rotted our parliament and brought the country to the brink of ruin. In particular they act as a protest-vote against the presently-ruling Labour party. They have the same underlying economics but eschew the cosy internationalism of the Marxist intellectuals of Labour. At the moment it is a potent mixture.

On 4th June we have an election for the "European Parliament", when we elect corrupt nonentities to a largely meaningless gravy train. It's a wonderful opportunity to protest, and there's so much to protest about. Labour and it's allies (mainly the Church of England and the BBC) are running scared of the likely result.

It is an awkward memory that the Great Depression brought the Nazi party up from 7% of the vote in 1929 to power in 1933. This was largely due to the weakness of the democratic parties of the time. The situation is rather similar to Britain today. Let us never forget that the Nazi party was democratically elected - once.

The fact remains - if the BNP are the answer, it must be a very silly question.

It should be remembered that the in terms of economics, ecology, welfare and general organisation the Nazis were very successful, and would probably have won any free election up to about 1941.

It was their nasty habit of losing big wars that let them down. That, and their policy of killing lots and lots of people. This has certainly tarnished their reputation in certain quarters. (Note that the present government has also started big wars, and killed lots of people.)

The present BNP seem to be a complete load of bozos in comparison. Their leadership certainly lacks anything resembling Hitler's incredible charisma, and their economic theory only survives within a few yards of an open bar.

I suspect the government is hoping that the European elections will act as a lightning conductor for the present surge of public anger, after which they will be able to get back to conning the public as usual. I hope they're wrong, and they will end up being lynched on their own hustings in the autumn.
