Sunshine2585
I kind of like the entire lyrics to Savage Garden's Affirmation. I know they aren't really a quote as such. I believe the sun should never set upon an argument I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality I believe that trust is more important than monogamy I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul I believe that family is worth more than money or gold I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed I believe that God does not endorse TV evangelists I believe in love surviving death into eternity I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye(Repeat 2) I particularally like the line 'I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality'. I remember one of my friends telling me about how that line had special significance for her. She knew she was gay from the age of 11, and the kids at her school found out about it and bullied her. She ended up having to move to another school, which was a lot smaller. But eventually the kids there had found out about her sexuality. The morning after they had found out, the teacher that gave the assembly played this song and pointed out the sexuality line, to make it clear to everyone that they shouldn't start bullying my friend because of her sexuality. Saluthyus
not exactally a quote that is easy to pull out in any situation, but this is quite possibably my favorite quote/solliquoy in the past few years. Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V. -V for Vendetta the fact that it uses one of the least used letters in the english language in almost every word, and yet still makes sens is pretty impressive to me. Let alone the message that I whole-heartedly agree with. Link to comment

DollyDiaper
This be the Verse They f*** you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you. But they were f***ed up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and coats, Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another's throats. Man hands on misery to man. It deepens like a coastal shelf. Get out as early as you can, And don't have any kids yourself. Philip Larkin 1922-1985 D lly Link to comment
