Sounds like your mother needed help. Inconsistency is worse than being overly strict. You end up not knowing what you should do. My wife's mother sounds a little like yours. it took her a long time to get it worked out. I hope you are doing well.

If you have the desire to be spanked it shouldn't be easy to find a spanker to solve the problem. MY criteria is the condition of the bottom. Although I can't remember anyone who didn't cry during one.

I know a lot of people used a slipper or a Pimsole. But your're the first to say a ballet shoe. But having seen them,I certainly could see why it would be effective.

I'm afraid with anesthesia is the people who administer it believe that "Oh I can'y hear it" crap. Perhaps only one out of a hundred can and it wreaks them out. I woke from after bypass and I was still paralyzed. Terrified I was forever that way. Then the nursing staff tried to say you are just imagining that. I lost a lot of respect for nurses (and my wife was one) that day. I could repeat what was said and what was happening. It was no imagination but they kept denying it. I'm glad I never saw the anesthesiologist after I'd would probably punched him. he scared the shit out of me and it would terrify me if I needed anesthesia again.

You're old if you can remember seeing kids being spanked in public places. The ladies rest room usually had a outer room with a chair or two. I guess I have a question for her. Did her parents use a wooden paddle? And displaying it is good so the naughty persons can see it as a warning.

Do you use the same implements as your parents used on you. I say that because i wonder about the "carry over" from childhood. While I use a variety of implements, I usually use a paddle. I was paddled as a kid, so I think that makes in my kind of go-to implement. Although it is Lexan rather than wood.

The one thing that doesn't seem to be considered in regard to spanking and psych damage. Being in my seventies, spanking was an extremely common event. I was spanked as were all my neighbor kids, all my relatives etc. Being an expected event had to do something with the child's adjustment to being spanked. Even a couple of centuries ago people used to take their children to public executions. Which was what was done. Today the kid would be a wreck, in part because they learn that is not a common experience for other children. I'm not saying this is a total answer (group experience creating acceptance) but I have this nagging feeling it had a lot to do. Which in part explains "I was spanked and turned out all right" for we older people.

Yes I am talking consensual. And the covered bottom is part of the initial stage and usually leads to the bare bottom. But I just like the feel as compared to the feel of the say of smacking a panty covered or bare bottom. But it is just part of the total experience which normally moves on to a bare bottom and often the use of an implement.

For the spanker, what feels best? While bare has its' advantages, just in terms of feeling, I prefer the sensation of my hand smacking a bottom clad in a panty girdle. And my all time favorite was to smack was the rubber Playtex girdle. In part, as I am in my seventies, might have to do with early experiences? What are your favorite sensations of what a bottom being spanked should be covered (or not).

A question, how long did you have to wait until you could sit in the front of a car? In my case it was a month. they were afraid if an air bag went off and hit my weakened sternum, it would be the end of me.

Mine wheeled me out to the car and verified someone else was driving. They told me before hand and as I said they checked at least for the first trip.

Wow, I can't believe they let you drive. I wasn't allowed to even ride in the front seat for a month. They were afraid if I was in an accident, an air bag hit could kill me. Considering my sternum was not healed.

Been there,done that. I was lucky it was caught before I had a heart attack. Not caring is an interesting thought. I do remember when they took out the urinary catheter thinking "Oh No, now I will have to pee" No other thoughts since you will be very tired at first. I hope you like enemas. The pain meds plug you up. I think I was doing several a week at first. But do the cardio rehab and watch your diet. My total cholesterol is now under 200.

Returning to this thread again. I remember a conversation my mother had with a neighbor mother about a third mother (call her Mrs Jones). My mother thought it was odd that Mrs Jones spanked her kids in their soiled training pants. She did say that Mrs Jones' children were too old to be still not properly trained. Her big objection was that spanking them in soiled training pants made clean up harder. And she definitely was not disapproving the spanking for potty training. My experience is that the child would be cleaned up before they were well spanked. That was usually the application of one of those ball on a rubber band type paddles.

Getting back to this thread. I paralleled my parents, most spankings were given in a bedroom. My best friend and his siblings were spanked in a small hall off the kitchen. And when we were out mom (or my wife) usually took the child to the ladies room. The men (dad and I) took them out to the car. At home it might be just hand, paddle or strap; but in the car it was always a belt. The comment "Do you want me to take you the car?" was usually enough to stop any misbehavior. So where was the spanking room (or place)?

I agree about not understanding because of lack of experience. Centuries ago, they believed in blood letting to rid the body of bad humors. It is difficult for us to comprehend this procedure. My great grandmother was the kindest, sweetest person I ever knew. But there were family stories of her whipping her kids with a switch. She was trying to do what was best for her children, as she thought was right.
