I'd wear much more often but probably not 24/7. I already wear outside, if it was socially acceptable I would wear much more outside and be less fastidious about making sure none of the diaper was on show.

Tried dulcolax only once.....not keen on trying again. Produced lots of cramping and pain. I held it in for an hour...not really near loss of control, I could still hold things in it was just uncomfortable. The bit I liked the least was the couple of hours of recurrent pain and cramping after I messed.

Sounds fungal. Canesten cream can be bought OTC in UK. Use for 5-7days. Its essential to keep using even once the rash has gone - if you stop too soon the fungus may come back.

welcome to diaperspace. weather in scotland bad...probably only 4 months till you get some days when its not cold, rainery, dark and grey. I'm originally from glasgow hence the opinion on scottish winters. Manchester is a bit better but not much.

So with the UK NHS you can choose your family doctor (GP). When you need hospital care you can choose hospital and if you want you can choose a specific specialist (although most people just choose a hospital). In the past people did wait a long time for some operations but with increased recent investment most people are operated on pretty quickly. The vast majority of drugs are avilable for free or at minimal cost (although there is a charge for prescriptions in some areas of the UK only 15% of people actually have to pay it). Some expensive drugs with low efficacy are not paid for by the NHS. But then my understanding is that not all insurance plans cover every drug either. Private medicine is available in the UK for those who choose to puchase it. There is a lot of moaning about the NHS but its free and pretty good. Is it better? Haven't experienced the US system so I can't really say. If you're poor you'll get better health care in the UK. if you're rich you'll be better off under the US system. Is healthcare a right or a priviledge puchased by wealth? Both the UK and US systems face the same challenge in the future - rapidly spiraling costs of ehalthcare and an ageing population.

Although trying to raise awareness I noticed Ulrike couldn't actually bear to say the word incontinence but referred to it as "the condition" throughout the interview.

Inguinal henias can now be fixed in two ways. the traditional open operation involving an incision in the groin - advantages are that it can be done under local and as a day procedure - disadvatages are pain and limits to driving (you won't be able to do an emergency stop for a couple of weeks so can't drive). The modern (but not necessarily better) option is to have the hernia repaired laparoscopially (keyhole surgery). This has the advantage of very small incisions so almost no pain afterwards and the following day you'll be back to normal. Disadvantage is that it requires a general anaesthetic and an overnight stay in hospital.
