  1. I was a bedwetter until aged nine. My mom scolded me and told me I was lazy. She put my mattress outside to dry to try to shame me and eventually placed a plastic sheet on my bed. When a friends mom asked if I could stay over night she blurted out “no, he wets the bed”, in front of about ten people. I was incredibly embarrassed. Once she grew tired of washing my sheets, she finally made good on her promise and put me back in diapers. Pampers at first, then hospital grade disposables when I outgrew those. I don’t wet the bed anymore, but sometimes I wish I did.
  2. I HATE cloth-backed diapers. They do nothing for me. Plastic-backed is the only thing that turns me on. The softer, more silky plastic, which they don’t produce anymore (think vintage Depends or Attends, were the best! Please turn back the clock 20 years!
  3. They’re in demand because they don’t make ‘em like they used to. Diapers may be much more absorbent now, but they lack the super soft and silky plastic back sheet of diapers from years ago. The old ones remind me more of vintage Pampers, which are the diapers that got me, and I’d guess a lot of us 50-something year olds, hooked. If you are younger than 40, you likely have no idea what I’m talking about.
  4. When I was 5 or 6 I started setting the bed for no apparent reason. I was out of diapers for a few years before that. Of course, she got mad and scolded me. One night I went to bed and could hear the loud crinkle of the plastic sheet she had put on my bed. While it protected the mattress she still has to wash the sheets. After a while she had enough and said if I wet one more time, I would be put back into diapers. Well, no matter how hard I tried, not drinking water after dinner, going pee before bed, I wet the bed again. The next day I came home from playing outside and went into my room. There on the dresser was a box of Pampers and some baby powder. I started crying. That night I was diapered for the first time and every night after that for about a year. I remember the feel of the super soft plastic backing. I was intoxicated by the heavenly scent (in those days, diapers were scented). I have been hooked ever since.
