When do you write?

I'm wondering when others write their stories.  For me, I have a hard time writing when I'm tired, which makes it hard to write during the week.  I come home and I'm too tired to think about the story.   I tried to write in the morning or afternoon, but I have to do something to get in the zone.

I write...honestly, whenever I can squeeze the time in- usually when I come home from work for an hour or two. Sometimes all evening if life is calm and I'm lucky. I had hoped to get a lot of writing done over the Christmas break, but then I got sick and that torpeodoed my writing plans. 😑   Sometimes if work is very busy and stressful, when I come home I just wanna chill and don't have the spoons for writing.

I have been writing steadily for more than fifty years, and have pretty much followed the same routine throughout.  I exercise daily, and I compose a scene in my head as I'm building up a sweat.  I store it away, and sit down to type it up late in the evening.  It's rare for me to hit the keyboard before 10 PM.
