Slipping catheter?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I use the smallest catheter with great success! However, I notice that sometimes I will have the urge to pee and when I let go I feel a pressure on the bladder sphincter, if I keep letting go sometimes it gets uncomfortable.

I believe what’s happening is, as urine is passing by the catheter and threw it it’s causing it to slip down and the ballon is being stopped from going down further by the sphincter. Which creates that uncomfortable feeling.

Is there anyway to stop this?

Smaller is not necessary better in catheter sizes. in fact, an adult using a 12FR will find it slips in easily, but you will likely have more bladder spasms and some leakage. You didn't mention the size you are working with, but a normal adult should be using a 14FR or a 16FR with a 5CC balloon. Some, including myself, can comfortably use a 20FR with no issues. There is a lot to learn when using catheters. Fetlife has several groups dedicated to catheter play.

Play safe and remember catheter play requires you to be extremely clean when handling/inserting a cath.

I’m with @Loveable_guy on this one.  Small catheters tend to induce more spasms.  A catheter that is too small will wiggle around a lot inside your urethra and the balloon in the bladder, leading to more irritation.  Hence the  discomfort you’re experiencing.
