Diapers at the doctor

Anyone who isn't incontinent, have you ever worn a diaper to the doctor's office? Did they see it and say anything or did they ignore it?

I did a search first before making this thread and didn't find anything specific I was asking so I made this thread.

I have worn ABRI-Wings disposable diapers to the doctors office, the male doctor did not notice, well I do not think he noticed being he never said anything to me, my doctor has been switched to a female now, in which I found out last week when I went in for a checkup.

My first time wear to the doctor was like most people here, did the doctor notice or was it not part of the visit so he did not care. In 2010 when I went to the doctor for problems down there and showed up wearing the doctor had lots, being I was also in the army there was more. In 2011 when I got out of the army I had to start all over, new doctors, new specialest and so on. Still to this day if it is not my normal primary or Urology doctor. But then again the VA here is a teaching hospital so you might only have your doctor for a few visits...

@hawaii_baby Do you know what your doc wrote in your records about your diaper wearing?

For myself I have taken the step two years ago to tell my doc that I am incontinent (have wetting ashes etc.) , got meds for it, referral to urologists etc. So I know what my records say.

If my doctor is any example, if you are under 50 you probably won't have to even untuck your shirt. When I told him I had OAB he asked if I wanted to look into it, and I said no. That was it. Given there is not a lot of knowledge of what truly causes OAB, the reality is that if you are fine dealing with it on your own then they won't pry or send you to a urologist.

Hello. I wear for need. Most of the doctors are find about it. They don't care. But I have had my share who just HAVE to comment. I moved to a new area back in 2006 and saw who I THOUGHT was going to be my new doctor. He was a real jerk. I am on pain medication for a spinal injury. He refused to prescribe me the meds saying I was fat and that maybe if I don't have pain meds I will be motivated to lose weight. So pissed off, I moved on to the diapers. He told me "You don't need diapers. Your only bed wetting to keep people away!". WHAT? He was fired shortly after when 6 other patients filed complaints. Then I had a hospital stay and the nurse is there while I am unpacking my bag and sees me take out diapers. She says "aren't you a bit old to still be in diapers?". Hmm, didn't realize diapers came with a age limit. Last I checked, the bag did say "ADULT diapers". One time I was in the mental hospital. I had been seeing a therapist who's part of the hospital center. I had shared in therapy that I was AB. I didn't know it would be read by anyone else. I got on the ward and this nurse calls me up to the nurses station. She says "I just wanted to know, do you REALLY sleep in a crib?". It was then I realized what I thought was said in private wasn't. The next day it gets worse with the psychiatrist now looking over my chart decided he's not going to let me have my diapers because he said they were not "Age appropriate". I told him to have a janitor on stand by because my wetting wasn't just role playing. He changed his mind and said I could have the diapers after all. Sadly, some people are not ok with adults in diapers. Even with so much education about adult incontinence, people still see diapers as something only for babies, and maybe for kids. But they feel adults should choose ANY method other than diapers as they are "embarrassing" or "childish". I beg to differ. The side effects of pills suck. There is a big risk of infection with cathaters since the line goes directly into your bladder. With diapers, a virus had to fight it's way all the way up, while with a cathater they have a straight line right up. So I will pick diapers. The only side effects of diapers are leaks and diaper rash, and that's only if you don't keep up on your cleaning and airing out. Clean well, air out a hour or so a day and change often you will be fine. :)

I have been off work with spine infection for 4 months i have spent all that time in nappies or pull ups, i have regular check ups with gp always wearing a pull up with trunk under pants on top, nothing said by him at all. Wore a pull up to the urologist last week, through need at the moment because of the back stuff, it was a little bit wet when i pulled it down for the exam but he didn't pass comment, he was a bit surprised i think because i keep myself shaved down there but he didn't say anything about it.

Maly.

Always wore diapers when I went to the doctors from 1987 onward to today, been seen by every specialist there is when it comes to OAB, its in my medical records that the nerves that control my bladder are dead/inactive due to spinal injury.

Before 87 I would wear to the doctors office only if I knew I was being seen by a male doctor.

I have been hospitalized for psychiatric reasons in the past, and have shamelessly asked the nursing staff for diapers, stating that I am an infantilist, and find that the diapers help keep me calm.

Wow, so it can be that easy to get free diapers. I thought they do all these tests first and try and treat it before they prescribe you them but I guess every doctor is different.

The only thing I am worried about is if I was honest about my diaper usage, social services would be called. Some people are closed minded and think you're mental or something when you wear them and have no medical need. You never know what a doctor could think.
