I've not worked with coppermine before, but is there a good reason why you're not simply customising the out of the box skin (i.e. logo replacements, colours and different header etc.)? Generally its best practice to keep things as close to the release version *layout* as you can. Making a new skin will likely lead to pain later (like you currently have) when it comes to upgrading and such. Sure, some tweaks are fine (colours, putting your site standard header/footer etc. in place and tweaks to the CSS), but what is really gained from re-skinning it entirely?

That said, looking at the current site, it does appear pretty close to what the out of the box template would have been - what actually needs doing?

-------------- EDIT --------------

Having just downloaded and set-up Coppermine 1.5.12, the "sample" theme seems pretty close to what we have already. Replacing the logo at the top is a trivial affair, as is putting the login stuff on one line. This took about 3 mins and leaves everything pretty much as it is. If you want it really looking how the current site does down the exact colours and layout widths then there is no reason why it can't be done, but honestly I don't see much of a point.

  1. Copy ~/themes/sample/ to ~/themes/dd/

  2. Add a custom header by making a new file (' ~/themes/dd/head.html'), include the code below and configure it to be active in 'Config -> Theme Settings -> Path to custom header include'

  3. Edit "template.html" to put the user menu and system menu on one line (i.e. '{SYS_MENU} <img src="themes/water_drop/images/orange_carret.gif" /> {SUB_MENU}')

  4. Set the theme to be 'dd' in 'Config -> Theme Settings -> Theme'

  5. Done.

If you're really looking for something more complicated than this, fair enough, but before throwing money at the problem, think about if its actually a good idea or not and what you're hoping to get out of it. I would say you really need to think about putting a consistent framework around all aspects of the site - a common header, footer and navigation system which helps users understand where they are and what options are available. At the moment it all looks as disparate functionality not necessarily related in any way related to "DailyDiapers" as an entity. I don't mind there being a lot of variation and difference, but the current somewhat schizophrenic nature and inconsistency in the site generally does seem to be its biggest downfall. At a minimum it would be nice to have a common colour scheme and site geography.

NB: 'http://www.dailydiapers.com/images/copper-topper.jpg' should probably be 'http://www.dailydiapers.com/content/images/top-logo-dailydiapers.png'.
