dprtodd
Ya I been looking forward to it - no download form the US yet though. They do have a message up that it will be up for sale soon for non UK folks. I will be more than happy to buy it (I guess thats fair since it was paid for by UK Television Licenses - makes me think of "Quick eat the Teley!" from the young ones...) Link to comment
Little Faerie's Daddy
ok talked with my dr. who expert co-worker who said the 'new' daleks are actually the original ones from the first first episodes..... so they are not new at all, just bringing back older characters... What are these NEW one I have yet to see new one at most I have seen ones of different colors for rank unless I'm behind on episodes and don't know it 1 Link to comment

New ones are wayyyyyy bigger, eye stalk is different plus other things. Center unit with sink plunger(were all darleks plumbers?) and laser etc bigger. There is also a new colour/type err classed as elemental? darlek or something or other. I'm no expert but know two and i have all episodes so err yea it's wrong Link to comment
Goerge
Doctor Who is soooooooo fricking boring, I'll rather watch cbbc any day then this shite. 1 Link to comment
sarah_ab
in one of the episodes the daleks had gotten ahold of some of their original genetic code, the daleks from the past couple seasons, small shiny gold things are not PURE dalek genetically... well they found a way to bring back the genetially pure daleks, which promptly saw the little gold guys as inferior and killed them! 1 Link to comment

Because in the earlier (1960's episodes) you could take a ball of mud smash it in their eye stalk and they were blinded, now in the "Stolen Earth" episode Donna's father shoots a Dalek in the "eye" with a paintball gun and the Dalek melts the paint off his eye and says "My vision is not impaired" so upgraded models for a more efficient extermination. As far as color there was red, black, bronze/gold which was a show of rank. In the 11th generation Doctor the rainbow set are the "pure" Daleks. And more and likely they are the most high ranked members of their government or military. But that is just a guess on my part, to sum up color is rank or class 1 Link to comment
dprtodd
Yes the Daleks are the 'original' in terms of genetic material - however their casing and hardware are entirely new even refered to as "New Paradigm Daleks" Each of the five New Paradigm variants first seen in "Victory of the Daleks" has a casing of a different colour, with each colour representing a different role in their society. These roles are: red, Drone; orange, Scientist; white, Supreme; blue, Strategist; yellow, Eternal Link to comment
dprtodd
So even though they are supposedly original they are sub specializing in a way they have not before, have all new armor (The plunger has always been there AFAIK - mainstay of Dalek construction), all new colors, and implicitly a new way of acting. Therefore to me at least they are 'new and improved' (Fingers crossed that I keep that opinion) Link to comment

There was a special weapons dalek in one of the stories years ago err McCoy was the Dr. Darlek just had one huge cannon (wasn't a sink repair arm in sight). Rememberance of the Daleks was the story. curiositykilledthecat
Red shirt daleks, lmao. Well as long as they still look like daleks and not become giant octo spiders or something, I'm cool. Link to comment
Guest Katharsys
Is it just me, or does the new Doctor bear a striking resemblance to the epic troll guy? My vote is still out on the new Doctor. I see good things and bad things, and I will hold off on my opinions about him until the season ends. That said, I am just happy Dr. Who is still even on the air! Link to comment
nitrous
I'm not sure what is going to happen, but I do know the doctor will not die. He will not die because he still has to take River Song on some adventures. The first time the Doctor Meets River she talks about all the adventures she has had with him and tells someone in her archeologey party that He(the 10th doctor) is like a man you see in a picture just younger not quite the man he will become or something like that. So point beeing he still needs to take her on adventures so he won't die because of the pandorica, did i make any sense? Link to comment
nitrous
I'm also sad and happy that so many of you guys are into Doctor who. Sad because I wish i had known about this sooner. Link to comment
Hasen
Well season one is almost over. Time to download it and see how it is. High hopes. Link to comment

When I refer to him dying I mean regenerate into a new form the Doctor can only DIE (that I know of) if he regenerates and before completion is mortally wounded before he is finished regenerating. So if this 11th Doctor had to become a 12th Doctor then he can still take River Song on these adventures that may happen, remember this seasons revelation is time can change... maybe???? SoCalAB
We agree with you on Matt Smith. The Toddler in the TARDIS should be put in diapers though and I bet Amy Pond is just the one to do it... although Sarah Jane Smith is sure looking motherly! She can pamper me anytime. I go pee pee Auntie Sarah Jane!! Part one of the season finale just are and now the Doctor has to stay in the box all week until we find out what happens next Saturday. Did anybody else jump behind the sofa when what Cyberman arm came to life?? We did! Stay Pampered SoCalAB http://socalab.250x.com noooooooooooo! Matt Smith is a gorgeous man and I want to bear his children! Link to comment

SoCalAB
Hi Nitrous I have been watching Doctor Who since before you were in diapers... err.. that didn't sound right in this group because we are all still in diapers! LOL! I started watching back in the 1970's when Jon Pertwee and loved every Doctor who has followed him. I still have a thing for Sarah Jane Smith. Now thanks to DVD's I am familiarizing myself with the first two doctors as well. Every one is unique and brilliant in their own way. Stay Pampered SoCalAB I'm also sad and happy that so many of you guys are into Doctor who. Sad because I wish i had known about this sooner. Link to comment
SoCalAB
They are sooooo like the Star Trek Next Generation Borg. They adapted their defenses. Has anyone notice how the Daleks and the Cyberman combine are pretty much what make up the Borg? What's with that? A rip off or an hommage to Doctor Who baddies? Well... of all the people complaining about the "NEW" Daleks it seemed there was some dramatic change not things that could easily be chalked up to technical upgrades to make it a better exterminator. Little Faerie's Daddy
Oh I need to keep my mouth shut I watch it on boot legs on the net. So i need to watch out for "spoilers". So I guess some have not seen the finale? Damn BBC America lagging?! Link to comment
